4118 Burger and fries, chicken tenders and cabbage, pastor, and chorizo soup.
    Jess H.

This place had the BEST BURGER I have ever had. Whatever their special blend is for their patty, we thoroughly enjoyed it! Likewise, the chicken tenders were phenomenal. 6 tenders that were moist and juicy. The breading was light and flavorful. This would have been hands down a 5 star review of the service had been better. I got the soup of the day (cabbage, potato, and chorizo), and expected some spice - chorizo, duh. However what I got was a VERY spicy broth, and I couldn't eat it (there had been no mention of it being spicy). The waitress never stopped to check on our food, and when she cleared the plates and left the soup, I told her she could take the soup as well since it was too spicy for me. I said it politely (that's how I was raised). She just looked at me annoyed, said okay, and walked away. I was still charged the upcharge for the soup, which I can understand, but most places would offer fries at least (which came with the meal). We had been looking forward to trying dessert, but she seemed eager to see us go. Her attitude was a huge turn off, so I would get my order to go next time.

Wow... what a great experience! We decided to check this restaurant out and it was wonderful. From the start, the service was EXCELLENT!! Hallie and Sam were the best! We started with some cocktails, which didn't disappoint. I had the cucumber refresher... delish! And then, the summertime mule. The strawberry basil syrup was a perfect twist! My husband tried the meatloaf and I had the 4118 burger. Both were cooked perfectly and a nice size portion. We both had to ask for to go boxes. What an amazing experience!! Highly recommend

Spinach artichoke dip with grilled pita

Quaint and friendly atmosphere. Service was great, and our server was extremely helpful in making our food choice. The staff worked as a team so well. Spinach artichoke dip was delicious. My husband loves the turkey melt, but it was too smoky flavored for my liking.

    My yummy burger !

Hey this burger is amazing ! And we already ate one to split with fries now we ordered one with slaw ! Yum !!! Come try it !!!

We arrived just a few minutes after they opened for lunch so getting a table was easy. Food took maybe 10 minutes to arrive. We ordered the Cornbread and Buttermilk Biscuits, Smash Burger, and the special of the day which was a heated sandwich with mushrooms, onions, cheese, and beef. Everything tasted good. Only downside was that it was somewhat difficult to get our server's attention for drinks/refills at times.

Thanks Jarred for the great wine recs.

We've always enjoyed visiting 4118 and today did not disappoint. Pics don't do it justice, the Griddled Chicken Sandwich was amazing. I was a little hesitant with the combination of pimento cheese, mushrooms, bacon & purple onion added to the grilled chicken but the flavors were amazing together. My husband had the Fish and Chips, he said it was some of the very best chips he's ever had. 4118 also has a good selection of wines! Enjoy!

I rode up to Highlands with the family last weekend. It was their first weekend open since Covid shut everything down. The place was empty, but we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The waiter was funny and went above and beyond taking care of these out-of-towners. He found us a store that was open where we could buy playing cards. He called the owner of a local spa (at home) to see if they would be open the next day. He was pretty snappy with our orders too. I've never met a barbecue sandwich that I didn't like...well there was that one time in Crawfordville, but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, the Cheerwine bbq sandwich was delicious. It was a bit sweet for my tastes, but I prefer a more vinegar flavor anyway. If you like sweet bbq, this one is on point. The kids got the buttered pasta and burgers. The macaroni and cheese is really good. By the time we left, a few more folks had drifted in and everyone there was happy and outgoing. A little old local couple decided to make 4118 their first meal out after the shutdown was lifted. That tells me something right there. If you enjoy a cocktail with dinner, 4118 has a full bar and can make anything you want. The drinks were tasty and not overpowering, but not too weak either. We went right after the restaurants were allowed to reopen and there were a few hiccups, but overall, it was a great experience.

Good food, very casual but fun location. Not meant tables so get there early. All dishes were plenty of food and the service was good.

Everything that we ordered was delicious! It is a hidden gem for sure! It's in a strip mall near the grocery store.

The live music was an awesome touch and made for a fun atmosphere. I was able to bring my pup since I sat outside, which was a huge plus. Just keep in mind that if you're dining on the patio, the service is more limited, you order and pay at the bar, and they'll bring your food out to you. Overall, this is a must-visit if you're in Highlands, North Carolina, especially if you're a fan of great burgers, good beer, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Ended up using the back of the booth for our water bottle and condiments and still struggled for space. Buffalo wings were good but not exactly Buffalo. No buttery spicy hot sauce. It was more peppery than buffalo. Wings were cooked perfectly though Reuben is excellent as are the jalapeno Mac bites. Cheese dip was also excellent but we (and the table next to us) had to ask for more chips. Not portioned terribly well. Beer options were very slim (2 on tap from what it gathered). I'm sure there were plenty of bottled options but draft was disappointing. We ordered the ale but they tapped out and brought us brown ale. At 5pm...only a brown and stout on tap. Overall, it was a pretty middling experience but the food was good and they offer a military appreciation discount.

Very Disappointed -- Would Never Go Back…read more We had eaten at Primary once while visiting the Highlands a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, that experience was disappointing from the beginning. The bartenders were rude and unhelpful, and the food and service were two stars at best. The one reason we decided to give Primary another chance was the Sunday night prime rib, which happens to be one of my favorite meals. I completely understand requiring a credit card to hold a reservation. I was a chef for 10 years, so I understand the business side of reservations and no-shows. Unfortunately, our French Bulldog became seriously ill around 3:30 AM Sunday morning, and we felt we needed to rush him to BluePearl in Atlanta. Because of the emergency, we obviously could not make our dinner reservation. I tried calling Primary, but no one answered. The recorded message instructed me to send a message through the OpenTable application, which I did. I explained exactly what had happened and asked if they would please refund the reservation charge given the circumstances. I also emailed the owner personally and explained the situation. His response was simply no because we did not show up. I reminded him that I had followed the restaurant's own instructions and contacted them through OpenTable as soon as I could. He still refused. What bothered me most wasn't the money. It was the complete lack of professionalism, customer service, and empathy. Emergencies happen. I would have expected a restaurant to understand that a sick family pet requiring emergency veterinary care is very different from simply deciding not to show up. After our first disappointing experience, we gave Primary another chance because of the prime rib. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled guaranteed that we will never return. If I could give the owner negative one star, I would. Don't waste your money or your time supporting a business that treats customers this way.

It's such a beautiful and peaceful space to dine, especially with the amazing Spring and Fall temps they get there. We were with a party of 6 (plus a baby), and walked up without a reservation a bit late in the evening. We figured we'd try it and see if we could get in if it wasn't too late, and luckily enough, the hostess was kind enough to make it happen for us! The menu actually has a lot of variety for a wine garden - drinks and food wise. I started with the French onion soup and it was delicious. The Caesar salad was also quite yummy, but the meatloaf was the showstopper of the night! I am still dreaming of it now, and wish I could replicate it myself because it was that good and memorable! For dessert, I ordered the affogato which is their house made vanilla bean ice cream with an espresso shot and it was the perfect ending to the night!
