Great bar to pop into! Meet with friends, a date night, if you live in the area great spot to grab a cold one. I especially love the beautiful brick and reclaimed wood that is throughout the entire bar. The wood is from an 150 year old farmhouse. Gorg!! Beers are cold, drinks are strong. As a final stop for the SF Halloween bar crawling, we came to this place at around 1am of Friday night. The place was still very crowded and to get a drink we still had to wait for a couple of minutes. The ambience was nature-themed and very warm and I thought it could be a nice cafe or something as well. There were not that many tables on the first floor and it was more like a dance club than a bar. We didn't get any cocktail or something that we could consider the taste of drinks but the bar tender was really nice. Went here for my friend's grad party and it has a very exclusive vibe to it. It's not a very big bar, but it's a good place to socialise and have a good time with your friends. It was difficult to get drinks because there were only two people at the bar making drinks. I had the strawberry margherita and a shot of gin. Those two drinks cost me about $25. I've been coming here as a must every time I hit the city. There is just something nice about relaxing about this spot that pulls you away from the craziness of SF. And since I was introduced to it 4 years ago, I never miss a beat. I order the cucumber gimlet and probably the first time I realized how obsessed I am with cucumber and alcohol. We needed to find another bar in the area to have a drink before heading into the Regency for a concert. The name was a little....not off putting, but gave us pause. Then we walked past and thought "wow, this looks really nice." There's a big bar on the left, and tables, a fireplace, and then some high top tables where you can sit and look out at the street. It was warm enough that they had the windows open. There's also an upstairs seating area. We got our drinks. Hubby was happy that they had a decent selection of single malt whiskeys and got a double Oban neat. I had a well made Manhattan. And we sat there relaxing while watching people. We chatted a bit with the bartender. He was friendly and pleasant, and we liked chatting with him. Sorry we didn't get more time, but it was time for the show. We'll happily go back the next time we're up there for a show. Bathrooms were straight in the back. They're individual. And there's a long sink with a big mirror outside. So if you needed to primp or wash your hands, you're not taking up a toilet which is very cool. It was kind of dark in there, but maybe that's what the regulars like. Lush and I go back a ways when my friend Carlos used to take me to the old, more compact location down the street to get the Lemon Drops. He liked chatting it up with one of the bartenders while we both got sloshed. I know from taking the 19 all the time that Lush moved up Polk to bigger digs with a fireplace and an upstairs area. It's like an episode of "House Hunters" where the bickering young couple is staying with her parents in her girlhood room as they shop for a house with four walk-in closets and twin sinks in the master suite. Lush has swung it's doors open once more, new doors, but Lush Lounge's doors none the less. You'll find the new and improved Lush a block up from it's old location, right in the thick of the Polk St. bar scene, with more room for your lushing and lounging pleasure. The most important thing here is that they're back with same squad of bartenders because lets face it, good bartenders are what makes a good bar. You can have the fanciest, hippest location in the city and if your team sucks ass you won't last long. It will take me awhile to get used to as I'm sure it will for many of us who remember the old, much smaller digs. I'm no old man though, I embrace change, and I have to say while completely different I'm very impressed with the new setup. Much more room, longer bar, more tables, more lushing. Did I mention the fireplace? Cozy. I asked if I could bring my own materials for smores and while I didn't get an explicit "no" I could tell the idea wasn't really embraced, I may have to hold off. Lush Lounge was probably the most "normal" bar of the Bachelor Party pub crawl. Not too crowded. Warm, hipster, and casual environment. Music in the background,but at the perfect volume so that you can still talk and hear each other. Drinks are surprisingly affordable for San Francisco....beers available as low as $6 and wells drinks as low as $8. Not the most exciting place to be on a Saturday night, but you won't be disappointed either. Probably a great spot for your first Tinder date on a week night. read more

Actually one of of my favorite bars on Polk street. Also usually the very first bar I go to because of their affordable drinks, good vibes, and chill environment. I remember the first time I came here with 5 other people on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded nor was it too empty. We ordered 6 tequila shots and I think it was about $5 a shot! Pretty decent place to start your night with that kind of price! We also got a free cocktails/mixed drinks which were pretty unique and good too! Didn't pay a cover fee and there were restrooms conveniently in the back. One of the cocktails I had was the mojito. Didn't taste like it had too much alcohol in it and a tad bit diluted with too much ice but a good drink to sip on while chilling with friends. They have quite a few seats upstairs and and open area on the bottom floor to just chill/possibly dance. This large window opened to Polk Street where the people watching was amazing, and the cool San Francisco breeze was whisping on our faces. As I approached the table, I noticed everyone was drinking these wonderfully pretty blueberry drinks. I guess they are the house special. Special they were, as someone dropped a glass and broke it on the table top. We had a great time talking and hanging out in the wonderfully comfy and friendly space. With a name like Lush Lounge, this place sounds like a Vegas bottle service joint with hotties in their hoochie mini-dresses, with velvet seating, sheer drapes, and a jammed disco dance floor of sweating young bodies with Polynesian armband tattoos and tramp stamps. It is not this at all. Lush starts off the evening with a nice vibe, mature and comfy, with a casual ambiance to meet up with friends to imbibe a few and catch up with friends and their latest drama or gossip. It isn't crowded early, and the drinks are reasonable, like $8 call and $7 well. The long single bar is to the left, there is a large picture window in front which is open on nice days to the street, with tables and chairs there and around the edges of the room. There is an upstairs mezzanine section for the overflow or private function crowd, but there isn't any table service that I could see. It is step up to the bar and order. There are plenty of helpful bartenders, so the wait is never long. They offer a blackboard of specialty concoctions like most hip bars in SF do nowadays, but they aren't bogging down the bartenders with 5 minute prep time drinks with crushed fruits, shaken and never stirred girlie combos, mortar and pestle veggies, and a dab of bitters. Lush Lounge is part of the Polk Street corridor of nightlife spots, where on weekends, particularly after 11 PM, the streets fill up with young revelers looking for a good party time. After 11pm here, the vibe changes from comfy and friendly to young hotties, single ready to mingle, and a line forms almost exactly at the strike of 11. It isn't like the dance clubs in the TenderNob, since there is no dance floor here, and you can easily talk over the music, unlike most clubs, or even some bars like Rickhouse on Kearny. If you don't like the vibe (or change in vibe) here, you can just walk down the street to another spot on the Polk corridor. Decades ago, Polk Street used to be famously Gay, before it was castrated by the Castro. You'll still see the occasional cross dresser and trannies in the lower Polk, which is an area that used to also have male prostitutes. But up here on the upper Polk area, it is Hetero, with the young Marina crowd migrating up as the evening wears on, and they tire of Buffy and Bif (or should I say Mitt?) named lawyers in the Marina spots. During fleet week, there were groups of the Few, the Proud, the first in battle, roaming the bars in uniform, prowling for friend, not enemy. We applauded them and befriended them, thanking them for their service. I think they were looking for girls, but since the repeal of don't ask, don't tell, anything is game on Polk Street. Bumpin on a Saturday night for sure. I haven't done a run on Polk since my 21st. My friend chose this place because she was having dinner nearby. Place gets crowded but the birthday girl managed to snag a table. Good drinks specials like $9 Patron shots & $5 Watermelon Shooters. Surprised that the space it's bigger than the pictures make it out to be. It's a chill place and I usually go for a more "dressy" lounge but it's not a bad place at all. And the birthday girl had a good time so that's all that really matters right? Only minuses: Cash only & parking was horrible!
