    "Grapefruit" martini
    Melissa C.

Pretty swanky decor and decent drinks. I had to try a martini, as the bar vibe seems to cater to those. I had a grapefruit martini, which actually has no grapefruit! It's gin based, pink, and has a sugar rim. Yummy! The poker machines, however, are too far back from the seats. Not conducive to being comfortable while playing. Alas, there are other seating areas away from the bar where you can stay a while. There were bottle service menus in these seating areas, which probably means they have music on the weekends. It's a round bar, with a panoramic view of the casino floor, and the jeweled chandelier centerpiece provides a touch of elegance. This was my first visit here, and I asked the bartender if they had a martini/drink menu. She said something to the effect of, they used to. I assumed they had one after reading about it somewhere. Nevertheless, she recommended the "grapefruit" martini, and that was a great drink.

Honny and Jimmy, the bartenders at this bar are so wonderful and attentive!!!! They have amazing service and make sure you're always taken care of. Definitely make it a regular spot to visit on the weekends.

    Passion Fruit Martini and whiskey

Wow...the last review was over 2 years ago? No review from the duke? This place is quite nice and bright. We were waiting on some friends to join last night's sausage party but they came a bit late that I ended up playing video slots and blackjack. Never playing slots ever again, I'm sticking with blackjack. I had a passion fruit martini, a love martini and a raspberry gummi bear. The bartender was a pretty hot biatch and she has a nice rack. Make sure you look for Nhuhoang when you go here. Her pornstar name is "Honny" but don't call her that. All I had to say was "I want something fruity" and she made the best cocktails I've ever had. She gave me some candy too. I think I love her but I think she likes hairy men. They have lots of TV's here too so I was able to catch a basketball game. They play pretty good house music.

Had a business meeting here during Happy Hour at 4 pm on a Wed.....good move on my part, wine by the glass is 1/2 off during Happy Hour!!! The bartenders that were working there were good looking and very friendly. They made sure that our glasses were never empty. It was a perfect spot for our meeting. I went on their website and got more details on their Happy Hour...see below: Daily Happy Hour Specials: 4pm - 9pm Reverse Happy Hour: Sunday - Thursday, 11pm - 1am 2 for 1 Martini Menu Half-Price Wine by the Glass Half-Price Bottled Beer $49.99 Bottle of SKYY Will I return? Absolutely!

A resounding YES was the reply when we asked if it was still happy hour (at 536pm). Happy Hour (Daily) is 3 PM - 6 PM with $7 fancy margaritas and snacks including ceviche, guac, queso, empanadas and chicken or carnitas street tacos. We were hungry and thirsty. She asked if we wanted to start with (thick warm) chips and salsa. YES, PLEASE! Wished the chips were saltier, but too lazy to ask for salt (which just causes water retention anyway). Salsa thin and almost smooth, with clear pieces of roasted red jalapeno pepper yes chipotle baby! Busy solo, our bartender eventually came around for our drink orders, and we both chose fancy margaritas. My Black (Berry) and Basil may have been the perfect cocktail ever. Sugar rimmer made sticky hands, but OMG I loved this sweet boozy concoction. Hubs ordered a Spicy Piña with pineapple and jalapeno slices. When he was about half done the bartender came around with extra and filled his glass again. Leftovers from the shaker, OH Yeah! While munching on the chips and salsa we decided on the chicken street tacos and the shrimp ceviche. The ceviche came in a small bowl with a huge pile of more chips. We probably could have eaten two orders of the shrimp part though! Rough chopped shrimp, peppers, onions tomatoes and a light broth were perfect on this hot day. The tacos were small on very soft fresh corn tortillas with a good portion of shredded chicken tinga. I was able to add the avocado that my husband removed from his ceviche and round out these tacos, which were only topped with cheese and sauce. Maybe some cabbage would be good here? These were just ok but I was hungry. Alas, the potent concoctions were enough that I only required one. I really wanted to get the spicy mango margarita too. Which will necessitate another visit to La Neta for happy hour again on our way back through town in a month!

I cannot given enough praise to The Lakes for every experience we receive when we dine or pick up our meals. Whether you are eating in the restaurant itself or if going in later hours and eat at the bar, you will receive excellent service, excellent food and reasonable pricing for what you order. While I did enjoy the fish and chips, I now go and pick up "TheLakes burger" every time I choose The Lakes for a meal. Their burgers are cooked on a grill, with fresh, quality hamburger meat and cooked to your desired preference. The seasons they use on the fresh made patties is always spot on and you get that grilled taste that is just perfection. The burger is also never dry, so you really get all the flavor. Did i mention also that they are a half pound? The bun, which is a quality bread, is always flash grilled so it helps holdup to the burger and all its dressings. The lettuce, onions and tomato have been crisp and fresh every time I order it. Bacon is a good quality. The fries served as a side are some of the best steak fries I've had at a restaurant. If you prefer them saltier, you will have to add more salt to them although I prefer this due to it allows you to control how much salt you like on them. If you don't prefer steak fries, you can swap them out for regular fries or do what we do and upgrade to their onion rings. I'm not sure if they're battered there although I'm not worried because they always have a great crunch and taste amazing. I forgot to mention that on the fries, you can request Parmesan on them and although I'm not typically a fan of Parmesan l, they hit the spot. Service has always been above and beyond. Regardless of if dining in or just grabbing to eat at home, we are always treated warmly and professional. I would recommend if dining in to check their high volume times due to its a smaller seated restaurant but if you do have to wait, I highly recommend the wait. Between the great quality of service and food, it's a place that you have great options on food and the employees are personable. The Lakes will continue to be my new favorite local gem and I hope if you give them a try, you'll support them happily the way we do now.

I even tipped on the fly after winning 30 bucks on the machine due to making me play to get the seat (no one was there) but there was still zero hospitality or acknowledgment. What stood out even more was watching the staff prioritize someone yelling across the bar, while completely overlooking customers who were actually sitting there and trying to engage respectfully. Coming from California, I'm used to a higher level of service and attentiveness. This just wasn't it. There are plenty of other local bars in the area that value their customers' time and money. I had the grill cheese and tomato soup which was only $10 and pretty good and the service was also good the only thing not to my liking was the Irish coffee it was prepared with too much baileys which harmed the taste. As far as gaming is concerned there is no welcome offer, I couldn't see any other sort of promotion active either no four of a kind bonus, point multiplier, free play, etc... just points it remains to be seen if they even send out mailers. Beyond that the game quality is poor 6/5 bonus poker and 8/5 DDB is the best you are going to get so everything is below a 97% return.
