Nice bar to come and have some drinks when you're down several hundred dollars and need something to take the ache and pain away of spending a second mortgage on a house you don't even own, when you realized the ladies of the night wandering around notice your husband is too poor to approach, and that drinking your pain away is a lot cheaper than gambling any more. This bar is expensive, and did I mention the several hundred dollars that I'm currently down, but they make really nice drinks. More of your old fashioned, fancy martini, Moscow mule variety, rather than the "free drinks" you get for gambling like Jack and Coke and pineapple and rum and stuff. I feel fancy here, and it actually helps to stem the bleeding from my open, but dwindling wallet. The bartenders are friendly, helpful in alcohol suggestions, and very nice. And it's feel good when you paid for a tasty drink that lasted a lot longer than the $300 you lost in less than an hour in the slots. read more

Last month (6/19) our company had an event at Red Rock and the after party moved to Onyx. We had well over 70 people show up essentially unannounced on a Thursday night. Even with only one bartender (Elizabeth) and one cocktail waitress (Hailey) our group received wonderful service. The *Best* Apple Martini in Las Vegas. We visited the Onyx Bar over Memorial Day weekend and the bartender Hailey made us a craft Apple martini using her special recipe and passion for food & drink. My father was an executive at Seagrams so we are familiar with a quality drink and quality ingredients, and when we took the first sip were awe strucked with the taste. This is located in the hotel lobby of the casino, which is tucked away. I like this bar because it is off to the side of the casino and is quiet. It also is a little more upscale and each section is a couch or lounge area. They also have piano player that plays beautiful music which is a huge plus. The reason for 2 stars is because of terrible service and the drinks weren't so great. My girlfriend and I arrived at 10:30 and sat down. They don't have a cocktail server so you have to go to the bar to order The bartender was moody and short. Even though they have a drink menu (saw thanks to Yelp) they don't have any at the tables or even the QR code. We asked what specialty drinks they have and the response was. "Idk you tell me when you know what you want" At 11pm when the piano music stopped and we ordered another round, which again the response was " when the music stops i end as well. It's last call" how am I suppose to know that? But then he stayed at the bar for another hour and makes drinks for everyone else. So I guess they close at midnight? Drinks were overpowering and took over 10min to make. Use to come here to this bar past and they were 24hrs but with this kind of service, I won't return until they get a new bartender. read more

This place very versatile. It has alot more to offer than meets the eye. There is a private back room that is perfect for larger groups. The bar is also great. There is an extensive selection of spirits. The cocktail list is well thought out. I have seen little change to the cocktail selection in some time. The wines are pretty good also. The staff is always very nice and informative. We're locals and will head here for a drink if we are looking for somewhere close to meet friends. read more

Wow, am I disappointed in this bar. I've been to this hotel many times for dinner etc. I'm a local here in Las Vegas and to be honest there was nothing extraordinary about it. My friend and I went to go meet some people that came into town and it seemed like a nice little spot to sit and chat that was out of the way of the slot machines. Nice chairs to sit down on but that was about it. The number one reason I gave it a one star is because of the price. Oh my goodness, when I got the bill for only TWO drinks I was shocked! $45 for TWO drinks that I only got a couple sips out of because it was filled with ice. This is a stations casino that's across the street from a neighborhood shopping mall. I mean come on. This isn't an ultra lounge, a high rollers area, or club... it's literally just a bar off to the side of the penny slots. I ordered a crown and coke and my friend asked for a fruity drink that the bartender made for him. We honestly didn't order anything special or ask for the highest grade of alcohol. Just a basic drink. The bartender was courteous but not overly friendly. At one point I saw him arm wrestling with a customer who was wasted and singing at the top of his lungs. He never came by to see if we needed anything else. For that I'm actually grateful because I can't imagine how high the bill would have been. I've been to the clubs and ultra lounges on the strip and they don't even charge that much. If you happen to go here be aware of the outrages prices they will charge you. read more

This update is long overdue. Boy this place has changed. First off I know the prices are high due to the undisclosed entertainment taxed tacked on to your drink price. But the entertainer does not get any of that money. Two extra dirty martinis $32. At least they were good but I've had better for cheaper. The big change is now the put reserve signs on each of the side tables. You can only sit there for $100 minimum which is not hard to hit with those minimums but it was tacky since this is not a club and we are not on the strip. Needless to say those tables remained empty the whole night 3 plus hours when we were there. Seems like poor business management considering I watched numerous groups come in look at the table reserve sign and leave the bar. If they staffed appropriately there any have been a waitress to explain the minimum which again wouldn't be hard to hit especially with groups of 4+. I use to recommend this place now I say pass on it. read more

I've always wanted to try this place, but every time I come by wanting a drink, they're closed. I did some research and found out that they open around 5pm. Was watching the Notre Dame vs Michigan game this weekend at the Red Rock Sportsbook (great game I might add) and realized it was after 5pm so I figured I would tip toe over there for a drink. Onyx Bar is located in the eastern part of Red Rock casino right before you get to the shopping area and the stairs that take you down to the check in counter and the lobby bar. Every time I walk by this place, I always think that it would be a nice place for couples to hang out, take someone that you just met and or getting to know or else discuss some business. But I just came for a drink. The bar is in an open area and its seating arrangement is great for people watching or else to just cozy up with a drink or two. The bartender was really nice and made good drinks. First drink I had was a Midouri Sour and the second I took back to the sportsbook was a Raspberry Mojito. Both were amazing and came in large glasses. (but I did have to ask for a large glass) Drinks were not expensive at all. No walls to separate the two. And the dinging of the slot machines can get frickin annoying. Oh and did I mention the awful cigar smoke being blown in our faces the minute we sat down? Of course none of that is the actual bar's fault. The bartender made a mean martini and he was friendly and attentive. I had two Hendricks Martinis and they were perfect. My wifey got a chocolate martini and an espresso martini and my buddy also went with the Hendricks Martini. We were feeling good and we didn't want the party to stop. Yuck! Stinky bar, open to the casino floor. The drinks are crazy expensive and aren't even that good. I went for the Thursday night chocolate salon and I was thoroughly underwhelmed. We sampled 5 desserts and of them, 2 were disgusting. The lavender white hot chocolate was bitter and way too sweet- I had a big swig of water to wash down the first sip. The pot de creme was runny and splashed down off of my spoon- absolutely not the consistency it's supposed to be! When the waitress asked how everything was, I told her it wasn't very good and she just smiled and walked away. Save your money for T-bones across from the bar- they have great drinks and desserts and it doesn't smell like a giant cigarette! read more
