This place's coffee and Lucky donuts were amazing. We also had 2 of their breakfast sandwiches and they were wonderful. The bread was soft and fluffy on the sandwiches. The sizes were generous and very flavorful. The donuts are made on site but from a different company called Lucly's Donuts and they were so good! We bought a pound of coffee as well to take home with us. Definitely should try this place. It is busy because it is downtown but worth the wait. The service was good and there is additional seating right outside in the enclosed atrium of the complex if the restaurant's tables are occupied. Luckily we discovered this coffee shop early on during our trip. We ended up going out of our way to pick up this coffee because it's that good! My favorite was their iced latte with almond milk and they have a good selection of donuts including gluten free and vegan options. Only downside is that they don't serve matcha lattes and they no longer serve housemate non-dairy milks but they were still have the best espresso beverages in the city. And the chocolate old fashioned - crunchy, dark, decadent, more like a dessert (so it is best later in the day). Got the peanut butter and jelly doughnut, iced coffee, the cinnamon bun and a peppermint tea. Personally, I found the doughnut I got really chewy, I wouldn't say dense or heavy. Flavor wise, peanut butter wasn't too strong and the jam sort of melded in to the dough, so it was "soggy"-esque. The cinnamon bun was chewier, dense but I personally preferred it to the doughnut because the taste was so much more cinnamon-y. I ordered a maple nut donut and iced Venezuelan coffee as a snack and sat at one of the tiny tables to enjoy them. The donut was honestly way too sweet for my liking, and a bit too much dough to topping ratio. The iced coffee, however, was mildly sweet and very refreshing. I quite enjoyed this one and would probably only return for the coffee, not the donuts. It's pretty downtown so likely very difficult to park, so visiting by foot would be the easiest. read more

Staying in downtown we needed our opening coffee fix and this location was close to our hotel and centrally located in downtown Vancouver by Robson street. On a Sunday morning the place was packed with folks but the line moved quickly. We opted for a mulberry old fashioned and a couple of the speciality lattes. The donut was fantastic. Airy and light with the right amount of crisp and the flavor of mulberry was not overpowering. This coffee shop gave off some great vibes and had pretty solid choices for breakfast--I did get confused with prices because I kept forgetting it was in Canadian dollars and not USD. The sandwich was good--i got the Avo sandwich which had some really great flavors. However, the bread was a bit over toasted so it was a bit bitter. So come Dec, we're back in town for some Christmas and winter festivals, and of course, we make a point to come back twice more! Second, here's a list of everything we tried & shared during the 3 mornings we stopped in (all delicious!): Avocado Toast Vegan Banana Bread Currant, Ginger & Lemon Zest Scone Toast with Almond Butter & Fresh Jam Don't forget the Lattes and Flat Whites with their Organic Sicilian Almond Milk! This is the special kind of fresh-made, high quality almond milk that we do not mind paying extra for. They also offer an Organic Tuscan Hazelnut Milk! If you happened to ever watch the series Chef's Table, there is a great episode in season 4 about an Italian chef, Corrado Assenza, who helped save almond farming in Noto, Italy. Having seen this episode and knowing about the almond farming in Italy made us appreciate the fact that 49th Parallel adds this extra special touch of organic, Italian goodness to their menu. Donut and coffee, really good! My fave donut. But giving it only 2 stars for super slow service. I spent 15mins in the line alone when there was only 6 ppl in the line. There was only one cashier and the line up was getting long and the baristas were just talking about soccer (the big curly dude, and the bald guy). No hustle whatsoever. What really drew my wife and I to this location is the variety of doughnut options AND very distinct options at that. Many options for breakfast sandwiches, donuts and coffee/tea. My favorite is the lavender Earl grey Bismark. I've tried a few Earl grey donuts around Vancouver, but this was the most unique. The lavender topping wasn't too overpowering, and the Earl grey filling was surprisingly better than I ever thought it could be. It was cool, there was a lot of filling but not too much that made it messy, and it had a very good taste. I also had the brisket special breakfast sandwich with egg and jam. Came by during lunch hour solely for the donuts. I've heard the hype around the doughnuts from Lucky's before and seeing a location Downtown compelled me to get out there and see what the hype is all about. Oh boy do I believe the hype now. There's a wide selection of doughnuts and they all looked very delectable and appealing. It was hard to narrow down since I would have wanted to try everything available. Eventually went with two old fashioned vanilla, one old fashioned caramel, and a pistachio. These were easily the best donuts I have ever had. There's a good amount of sweetness when you take in a bite but at no point does it feel like there's too much sugar. It feels like the right amount to feel satisfied without being concerned about health. I could actually taste the other half of the doughnut aside from the sweetness. The actual bread part was delicious as well and it was a nice surprise to taste such quality in that aspect. I also loved how the old fashioned had a nice crunch for the outside and on the inside it was all soft. It was definitely worth the trip from my work all the way to grab doughnuts. I don't even have to think twice about it. Best place to get doughnuts in the city. Will definitely be making more trips in the future for more delicious treats. read more
