I was having a serious hamburger hunger and the 5-8 was my pick. I stopped in after a Vikings loss and the mood was a little somber. For me, it picked up quick after I ordered the delish bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. The wait staff for my table was friendly and attentive and the bar sir and the restaurant side were both super clean and warm. Apologies for no pics...I was so hungry, I ate too quick! This is one of the original places for an excellent juicy Lucy and I def recommend this place!! read more

We ordered takeout tonight because we were craving burgers. We also have had Juicy Lucy's from several different MN places and thought we'd try this one. Maybe because it was takeout, but the burgers were underwhelming. Fries were actually tough and even though we were only 25 minutes away, they tasted like they'd been sitting for an hour. We collectively had two pepper jack Juicy Lucy's, the shrimp basket, the garlic pub burger and a bacon cheeseburger. Despite our Grubhub driver being outstanding, the food left us wanting more and regretting the calories we ate for just okay food. Worst service. it took over a half hour to get a beer... There is only one good bar tender named Jack, she is the best bartender anywhere we have ever been. We wish she was still at the Sherwood Lounge. There are too many nasty people there at the 5&8 just happy all left the Sherwood: lounge and now That's the best bar on the East side now that they are all over there. Santa Fe Juicy lucy was delicious! It was juicy as expected, onion rings were crunchy as needed, and the 5-8 tavern sauce was out of the ordinary! Another place in the running for Best Jucy Lucy in the Twin Cities (I know it's not one of the "originals"). They have a variety of Lucys here, so if you don't want a regular Lucy with American cheese, there likely is something else that will tickle your fancy. There are also daily specials here, if burgers aren't your thing. These are a little more limited than the burger selection, but include hot beef and turkey sandwiches, all you can eat spaghetti, and fish. Everything else is pretty standard bar, although they have fun old aluminum signs decorating the walls, normal tap beers, and quick service. read more

Expensive! Marginal Lucy's and silly service charge to "support the staff". Overall service was good but they are getting ridiculous on the up-charges and the food itself is marginal. We ordered two Lucy's fries and a root beer float which was over 50 bucks!! Are you kidding me? On top of it they have a 3% charge to "help the staff". I boycott any place that is doing this. The OWNERS need to be taking care of the staff NOT the customers! I was hoping this could be a local for me since its right down the road but I will pass. read more

Our mostly out of town group was told by locals this place is a must. But I'm gonna be the odd one that leaves a review not about a Juicy Lucy, but about a salad. First off, I'm so glad they had a few salad options. Due to a restricted diet I couldn't consume an infamous burger here. I didn't have high expectations for their salad to be honest. Everything else on the menu is basically fried and I figured they're in the business of burgers, not salads. But wow, was I pleasantly surprised! The Asian chicken salad had a delicious sesame dressing, great fresh vegetables, and tender chicken. Everyone else at my table had a burger and seemed to really enjoy them. The nice selection of sides seemed to be appreciated by all also including sweet potato fries with a special marshmallow sauce. Unique! read more

We had the spicy chili, which had a kick but was delicious and we had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich which had tender meat and a great flavor. Looking for a good juicy Lucy? Have no idea what a juicy Lucy is? Well it's a patty with cheese in the middle, can't go wrong with that! I got the saucy sally and it was great. It gets a little messy but worth it. Everything seasoned well and the fries are cooked perfectly and go so well with the burger. We also got the chili, not a fan. It was super watery, wish it had more depth and was thicker cuz I like my chili hearty and not to runny. All in all, I enjoyed my first ever juicy Lucy! read more

While visiting Minnesota, my friends and I stopped here to have our first ever Juicy Lucy's. We loved the homey, small-town feel of the diner, and of course, their food! They have great fries, coleslaw, onion rings, and of course burgers - you really can't go wrong with any of their burgers. The reason for this three stars review however was the service :/ It started off very rocky when we had to wait over 20 minutes before someone came to take our order. On the bright side, the service did improve throughout our meal - I just wish it was consistent right from the start. All in all, our experience could have been better. It was alright but not what I was expecting. The staff was friendly and it wasn't a long wait. I ordered the onion straws($9.99) and a roadhouse Juicy Lucy($14). The onion straws were fine(could use a touch more salt but not bad) and they gave me lots, but my burger had no juicy to its Lucy. The center of the patty was completely dry. From what I understand the center is supposed to be full of cheese. The flavor was ok but without the cheese in the center it was only about average of a burger. I could've spent half as much at burger King and would have been happier with the result, even with knowing that the bk burger would've probably been half saw dust. read more
