The bartender, Lisa, asked if I wanted to keep the tab open so that if I wanted to step out during the show and order another round the sale would be expedited so I would not miss much. I told her yes and allowed her to hold onto my credit card. I went to the bar and ordered a 2nd round of drinks during intermission and returned to the show. When the show concluded we left immediately since my elderly mother was not used to being out so late. It was not until I arrived back home that I realized I had left my credit card at the bar. The next morning I called the hotel and they told me they had my card in the lobby and to stop by anytime. I drove there and approached the hotel lobby employee sheepishly and explained. She was very nice and told me that it happens all the time. There was a receipt wrapped around my card totaling $109.72. I added a tip of $10.00 and left. When I arrived home my wife, who is good with numbers, took a look at the receipt. She asked me why I left a tip when Lisa the bartender had already given herself a tip of $18.26. I was confused and took a closer look at the receipt. The drink total was $83.00 + $8.46 tax + a credit convenience fee $2.74 + the self-added tip of $18.26 totaling $109.72 not including the tip I had left on tip of the tip Lisa had automatically given herself. Grand total of $122.46. Keep in mind that of the 8 drinks I had ordered, 2 were cherry cokes for the 13 year old. Flustered, I called and spoke with an employee by the name of Sue (11-03-24). She seemed perplexed that Lisa had automatically tipped herself and said that was NOT the normal practice and that she would pass it on to the food and beverage manager and it would be remedied. She took all of my information and I went about my day. I kept an eye on my records and by 11-08-24 nothing had been done. I called back and spoke with Sue who seemed a little annoyed with me. She told me that she had already passed the information on to the food and beverage manager, that she would pass it on yet again AND that it usually took 3-5 business days before I would see an adjustment. Well, by 11-20-24 (18 days later) nothing had been done. We have contacted our credit card company to contest the $18.26 out of principal. I am writing this more as a public service announcement. I realized I've been naive and this falls on me for not looking at my receipt. This being said, I do feel that the self-added tip was dishonest and that I was taken advantage of to a degree. Eric S
