NEVER EVER come to 5 stars nails spa in El Monte! Everything about this place is terrible. went in to get a pedicure and paid extra to get gel. Lady doing the pedicure took a good 10 minutes. she took out so much of my nail and skin using nasty unsanitary materials and ended up giving me an infection. paid $10 extra for gel so it can stay on longer & the nail polish was already chipping a few hours after leaving the salon. called and told the manager about it and she told me to come back and she will do them with nasty attitude as if i was lying to her. the same lady that ruined my nails the first time ended up fixing them for me. left and not even a week goes by and the nail polish was coming off again. manager was very rude and disrespectful when bringing up the issue to her. she expects me to keep coming back to get it fixed as if we have the time of day to keep going back and forth because they do terrible jobs. I started coming here after a friend recommended me this place and have loved it ever since. Dustin does an amazing job and I always go to him for a full set he never disappoints. Today my experience was not so pleasant I decided to get a pedicure and the experience was not the best. I seriously didn't want to leave this review but it needs to be known. The hand nail techs are fantastic, except for 1 and they know which isn't the one I like because she doesn't listen and I didn't like how she spoke to me long time ago. But this review is about their pedicures. Recently, about 6/7 weeks ago I got a pedicure from an older lady for the first time. I didn't get her name because I didn't care, but she's older tiny and wears glasses. She hurt me BAD and she blamed it on my ingrown toe nail which I didn't really have and it wasn't bothering me. But I played a long with it as she was putting the "excess" on top of my foot. Well, my toes hurt and were swollen for days. I still tipped her that time because I didn't mind and figured she was rushing because she kept jabbing me with her tools. I went in yesterday, Sunday and I got her again. Immediately I thought "oh no" but figured the last time was just an accident. Well once again she's hurting my toes with the tools as she's pushing the cuticle, she kept scraping the side of my toes with the drill (which hurt) when she was filing the gel polish off and when she was cleaning under my big toe she literally stabbed me underneath on the right side. I said something and she said she has to cut it because it's ingrown. First off, it wasn't even with cutting tool that she hurt me with it was with a pointy cuticle pusher so I don't know why she even said that. So I told her I don't mind her cutting the nail but that's not what she was doing. I let her continue and she begins to cut my nails from the side. The right toe hurt but not extremely bad. She seemed to think my nail is ingrown but it's literally my nail and how it grows on my nail bed. She began the left toe and she cut into the nail to start pulling back and immediately I can tell it's wayyyyy too much. It was my nail she cut into! I told her to stop and she kept pulling the nail back, so I repeated several times "stop stop stop" and she kept pulling the nail literally off my nail bed and finally I leaned forward and told her to stop and took my foot away. If I tell you stop, you should stop. Geesh. Well my toe is swollen, I can hardly walk on it and yes, it's confirmed, she ripped a slice of the entire left side of my nail off my nail bed. I'm now in pain, toe is swollen and it began oozing like it's getting infected.This happened about 12hrs ago. Staff should actually listen to their customers overall and if someone says stop, you should stop. That lady needs a lot more training on pedicures because she has no clue what she's doing and is definitely a lawsuit waiting to happen. I went to cut my nails short so I can run comfortably and now I won't be able to run until this heals. I'm actually very very upset about all of this. read more

If I could give this nail salon 0 stars I would... I gave this business many chances but unfortunately their service is always horrible! The nail tech left a mess of gel around my cuticle and when I brought it up to her attention she casually proceeded to mention it was okay because she was going to cut the excess gel off ...? THEN as soon as I got home they chipped. I requested to get them fixed and the owner personally told me to go in and they'd take care of my chipped nails however, when I arrived they asked me to come back the next day due to being busy. I went in the next day and everything was fine until I got home and they chipped AGAIN. I didn't bother going back anymore, it was a waste of time coming here. read more

I usually come here to get my nails done today, I came in with a full set of acrylics and I wanted to take them off because I wanted to do a manicure the lady and booth number two asked me what I wanted and I told her I want it manicure French tip proceeds to start taking it off with a nail tip and nail clippers to a point where she rips them off and damages my nail under which made my nails uneven she says that my nails are too short for French tip when she's the one ripped my nails apart and then ask if I want color and I told her I want clear but then she put clearcoat on it and I still have acrylic on my nail. I asked her to remove it, and she only removed acrylic on left pinky but not on my other nails. read more

She was going a bit too rough, a bit too hard too and fast. The way she files nails are slanted. I kept saying how slanted they looked and she kept filling them down shorter... never going back.. she really hurt my finger .... Then my thumb nails look shorter. One looks shorter than the other. But this time tech that I had an appointment with was no there. I got a pedicure while another tech opened. The woman doing my feet was distracted the whole time and I'm pretty sure making fun of me. She was more interested in talking bad about other customers than her job. She cut me 3 different times claiming it was an ingrown nail, even if that was true no need to cut people like that. The manicure tech Tina did the same thing. She cut me over 5 times. Then charged me way too much for a simple design and then forced a tip out for her and the butchered pedicure lady. TLDR: UNSANITARY AND RUDE! DON'T RISK IT. All I came in for was to get my remaining gel polish removed. It was only $5, which I thought was very fair priced, but whoever worked on me had no patience what so ever. She kept hitting my cuticles with the drill, and was just scratching and peeling with her fingers on the gel instead of filing it down. The worse part was how unsanitary it felt...before she worked on me, she spit out something that she had been chewing in her mouth onto her hands and didn't even wash her hands. She "accidentally" charged me $68 instead of $6.... And I refused to sign the receipt because I didn't want the payment to go through but she kept speaking to me disrespectfully as if I didn't understand that she'd pay back me in cash...I don't want cash, I literally don't want a $68 charge on my card. My 5th time here and each time my nails were done beautifully. There are a few "delux" pedicure packages that are very luxurious. They have various scents such as lavender, green tea, cappuccino and a few others that include scrub, whipped body butter cream and lotion. Very relaxing with a massage for each part. They have a wide variety of colors and polishes. I got matte a few times and it is really cool & modern. They do a great job with acrylics in all shapes. The salon is spacious and clean. You can also reserve your own tools that they keep only for you in a cabinet labeled with your name (if you don't like to have your tools shared). The base boards are dirty and the floor looks like it needs to be mopped. You won't know what color you want bc it is too colorful. The girl who did my deluxe pedicure is Wendy. She took care for me carefully and massage well. They have many types of sugar scrub, lotion, and mask. The special thing when you do deluxe pedicure, they will massage with hot stones and rolling bars. So professional Tina did my nail. So good.
