2 ate a genuine Honduras breakfast for $29.78. Place is bright, clean, really good service. You can get traditional American breakfast or authentic, speaking the language Honduran food. Gave 5 stars because it was really, really good but also a different. The restaurant itself is like a diner, traditional. You've gotta try it! See the menu pictured below!!

The staff weee awesome and even brought us the homemade hot sauce (delicious by the way). Their chips for the chips and salsa are obviously homemade. Had to resist not gorging on those. I got a pork chop with rice and beans and fried plantains. The pork chop was fine but it was completely overshadowed by the rice and beans which were overstuffed by the plantains. This was just a delicious meal. The place has a wide variety of seating options for almost any size group. We also noticed they seem to do a brisk takeout business as well. If you're around or even passing through this is a must try.

Ten en cuenta que solo aceptan efectivo, pero estás aquí para disfrutar de la comida, no de sus métodos de pago :) / The Coal Miner, Carbonero ;) is the real-deal for Salvadoran cuisine. I love places that let one channel their inner Anthony Bourdain right here close to home. The cuisine is primarily Salvadoran with some Mexican-influenced dishes as well. No disputing the authenticity of the food; this is not a chain. The service was fast and friendly, although it did take a short while for the meal to be delivered. El Carbonero is quite casual, this is not a fancy spot. There were families and workers enjoying their freshly made pupusas. They only take cash, so be prepared. Get outside your comfort zone (perhaps) and definitely give this spot a try. Estarás gratamente sorprendido :)

By the time I left around 6, there were people standing and waiting to be seated. The patio was open with one couple enjoying the nice weather and relative quiet of outdoors. Embur recently relocated to Smyres Place in Greensboro and the new space feels much smaller than I expected. The design reminded me of what I imagine a modern restaurant in Peru might look like. Industrial with solid wood floors, warm finishes, and a large wine display. There are around 25 to 26 tables, mostly two tops and four tops. The largest table seats six, but they will push tables together for larger groups. While I was there, a group of more than 20 came in celebrating something and they were seated quickly without disrupting the rest of the room. The small patio has outdoor seating with about 8 tables and a they have bar area with about nine comfortable seats. The menu took me a minute to understand but I ended up liking the setup. You choose your entrée, which comes with set ingredients, and then choose your protein. Each protein has a different price, so you can control the cost of your meal somewhat. Most menu items can also be made gluten free according to the menu, and vegetarian options seem easy to do. For my appetizer, I ordered the flatbread. Perfection. Rosemary, olive oil, sea salt. Crispy outside, soft inside, and so flavorful I almost ate the whole thing before my meal was served. The server came with water right away and remain attentive but not intrusive the whole time. For my entree, I ordered the Arroz Chaufa with salmon. Arroz Chaufa literally means fried rice. At first the dish seemed a bit salty to me, but once I added the green sauce that comes with it (served on the side), everything balanced out. The green sauce has very mild heat, so if you are not a fan of spicy food, that is the one I would recommend. There is a list of sauces so I assume you can customize your entree. According to my server, the other sauces bring more heat. The salmon was excellent, well seasoned but not too much, and moist. The portion was ample. I was very hungry but I had leftovers to bring home. Service was exactly what I want when dining alone. Attentive without being intrusive. I watched Netflix while I ate and enjoyed my meal without feeling rushed or bothered. The noise level is average for a busy small restaurant. Comfortable enough to relax, but if you want to talk to someone in your group a couple of seats away, you will need your outside voice. This place feels upscale without being fussy, so expected to pay more than average, but I thought it was good value for the quality and portions. I loved this restaurant and will absolutely go back. Must order: Rosemary flatbread appetizer. Tip: Ask about sauce heat before ordering. If you do not like spicy food, start with the green sauce.

Then he literally never came back to take our order, we actually had to ask another server to take our order...smh We asked for drink refills and he was just chatting it up with co-workers, then brought drinks without ice..what is going on, we wondered... No one checked on us our entire visit. I really enjoyed previous visits to Embur. The food was good as usual. There aren't very many Mexican stores in the area so I only had 2 options to go do since this is a really small town. The have a decent selection of items but wish they offered more. I guess being from Cali I set the bar high. I went to the meat counter I got 1.5 lbs of flank steak which I think their prices are overpriced at $14.99 a lb sheesh! I also got diced asada from street tacos as well it was still on the pricey side but not crazy like the flank. I also bought there homemade tortillas which honestly weren't good they were hard and stuck together what a waste of money we didn't like then at all. When you come here you'll need to have patience as when I went only one person in the whole place spoke English so you have to wait for that one person to come and help. Overall, I'd probably stop by again for other iris like the baked goods and the fresh drinks they make. This place is only just way too expensive.

Came here after the Durham Farmers Market with a friend and wow this place was a surprise. …read more I went with the grain bowl and honestly it is one of the best I have had in downtown Durham. It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. It is finished with a crunchy mix of pepitas, nuts, and grains. The balance is quite ideal in my view. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out. The vibe inside is festive and relaxed, bright and open, and just a fun place to hang out for lunch. Porbably not a special occasion. I also suspect it could get loud when full. This is definitely going into my regular rotation. That grain bowl is going to be hard to pass up next time, so instead of replacing it I will probably just add a side or an empanada and start working my way through the rest of the menu.

I got the two empanadas with aside and was able to try both the chicken and the pork. I think I liked the chicken a little bit more, but both of them were very good and the plantains were also very good. Not overly sweet, but also not super dry. I will say the parking is kind of annoying without parking space directly nearby. Had to park in the parking garage across the street. The server was very nice and mindful of waters and when we needed things. I will say almost $20 for a regular dish seemed very expensive but the food was pretty good so I would probably come back - just for the cheaper empanadas as they were pretty filling as it was. The one thing that kind of threw me off was how they set the table with their water cups upside down, touching the table. I wouldn't say that I'm a clean freak, but also that seems kind of gross to me because that's where my mouth is going to be... I'd probably do something different there myself. This definitely is more of a Chapel Hill / Carrboro money type of dining experience $$ but I'd be back on nicer occasions. The pastry on the empanadas were very good. Really liked the yuca Frits as well
