My hair is now shorter on the right side than my left side, Uneven, and when I pointed it out, he tells me it's because he is right handed. He didn't fix it. He is over priced, $155 for touching up my roots and I bring my own Goldwell Color & Developer, because I have allergies to Loreal products that are full of toxic chemicals. When I told Pete I would not be coming back, he raised my price on my way out the door on my last visit. He lied to me and said he raised his prices in January, I have been here three times this year, and he lied to my face. He is a very passive-aggressive jerk..... I would Never Trust Pete..... I needed a haircut and color (We moved here 6 months ago from Sacramento) and a new hairdresser. I went to Andrea for a cut and she did a great job and gave me a fabulous blowout. Feeling confident I went back to have her dye my hair. I had texted her the exact color and toner my hairdresser used. I explained that the highlights were always toned down to give it dimension but she insisted it would be all one color. She fried my highlights by putting me under a hairdryer in foils and whatever toner she supposedly used left me with ugly brassy damaged highlights. I've been coming to Salon 506 in Monterey and absolutely love my stylist and the welcoming environment. The team is amazing. However, I need to bring something urgent to your attention: all three shampoo bowls are extremely tight around the neck. During my shampoo, it's so uncomfortable that I can't breathe properly. The towel doesn't fit right either, and I end up with water soaking my clothing. It honestly makes me want to rush through what should be a relaxing part of my visit. I strongly encourage an immediate upgrade of these bowls to match the otherwise excellent salon. I truly want to keep coming back and enjoying the full experience. I've been seeing Pete for about a year now and he's honestly made maintaining my hair's style and color a breeze. This year, he added lighter shades of blonde and caramel to my hair - but not in a way that was too bold or required constant upkeep. Even after 4 months without a touch up, friends and coworkers still asked me if I just got my hair done because it grows out so well with my natural color. Pete is a gem with cuts as well. I have wavy hair that grows out in the weirdest way, but for some reason with Pete's magic it seems to grow out gradually and evenly. He never chops it all off if I ask for a trim, which is amazing because in the length of time I've been to Pete, my hair's gotten longer and healthier. From shampoo to oils and masks, this place has everything you need to wash and tend to damaged or color-treated hair. At first I would recommend this place but now I would not. EVER. I called the place multiple times over a month to make an appt and had to eventually go in to the salon because no one returned my phone calls. Spoke to a guy there and he was nice so I ended up making an appt. Since then tho I called another 2 times before my appt to get some info because they don't have a website I could find or pricing or anything on yelp. I just wanted to know how much I was going to pay. Again, no one returned my call. I decided to not show because over 1.5 months of multiple phone calls no one called me back. The only phone call I got was when I was "late" for my appt. I then told him I wasn't showing because I've been calling and nobody has called me back so I feel like you just want money and not very good with customer service. He clearly didn't like my honesty because now he starts to get nasty with me and then I start going right back at him. I'm sure their really good at what they do but their customer service is the worst I've ever seen. I'd rather go to a Supercuts just because they are nicer. I'm paying you my own money, I deserve some respect... he claimed he checks the phone but never got my messages... that's false because I have phone records that prove I made those phone calls... The person didn't do good job when I went to cut my hair, plus for 10 min hair cut and 5min washing it, I was charged $39. That's quite expensive for this service. The place where I normally go to cut my hair they charge $16. I had to go here because I was running late for some business. I waked out not happy with the job the person did. read more

Top notch salon. Very professional; featured in the 831 Magazine. I used to go to Pete (the owner) and then left the salon to find someone closer (and cheaper if I'm going to be honest) to where I live in Salinas. Needless to say I found cheaper, but I could not find anyone to get my hair the right color of blonde. It just kept coming out brassy. Then I met a guy name Michael Lira who said he could hook me up a better do for cheaper. Unfortunately I trusted him. I told him I wanted to get the brassyness out and get more of an ashy blonde. He ended up bleaching my hair NEON yellow. And completely drying out my soft fine hair. Totally damaged. He also used a razor on my hair - Do not let anyone do that to you if you have fine hair. I now have broken little pieces of uneven hair all over my crown. After breaking down in tears and running over to my friend's house, she immediately grabbed me by the hand and rushed me down to Hair 506 (where her mother also has been getting her hair done by Tiffany for years). Pete wasn't there, but Tiffany (my hair savior) was. I'm sure my god aweful hairdo and tears helped, but she ended up scheduling an emergency Sunday appointment for me. I cannot tell you how many compliments I've gotten since she fixed my hair. No one at work ever saw the neon yellow atrocity but they immediately noticed what an amazing job she did. And it had to have been amazing to transform it from the tragedy it was. She deep conditioned, toned and then did highlights and lowlights. My hair has never looked so good. I never should have left Hair 506. It's worth a few extra bucks trust me!! read more

As a male I was very hesitant to come here - I normally go to Supercuts or Great Clips for a haircut - no appointment needed, just get in and get out (also saves me some money)! Finally my friend convinced me to go to 506 Salon. She highly recommended that I see Tiffany - so I made my appointment with her. As I pulled up to the salon I started to get very uncomfortable - thinking how embarrassing it was to be at a Salon and getting my hair done by a "stylist". What would my friends say if they saw me there!? I had to man up and get it over with. As I walked inside, the smell of women's perfume and hair products filled the room, Burberry and Louis Vuitton purses on the shelves, high heels peaking underneath the hair cutting gowns, and what I assume was Coldplay on the stereo - I didn't belong here. I had a seat on the circular couch waiting for my turn - finally Tiffany calls me up. Her warm smile and laid back attitude was very comforting and made me feel at ease. We chatted for a bit as she was trimming my sides with clippers. All of a sudden she stops and said, "OK, time to wash your hair"...Excuse me? Wash my hair? They don't do this at Supercuts or Great Clips. As I sat in the chair she massaged my scalp with a peppermint scented shampoo - ridiculously relaxing! We returned to the barber chair where she worked her magic. The end result was perfect! This was something that I could never imagine. Because of this woman, I have been getting great compliments on my style. Who knew that this visit would be life changing - I now go to Salon 506 for every hair cut and purchase every hair product that I need from this place (Shampoo, Gel, Conditioner, etc.). Nicole is an excellent hair stylist, also she gives great advice in hair color choices. The highlights she chose go perfectly with my hair color. I typically wear extensions and Nicole does great extensions, so much so, that my friends inquire as to who did them. Nicole is always up to date on current hair styles, bling, feathers and such. Pete who is my favorite stylist, as well as the owner, is very talented in his craft!! He is so talented that I know several people who come down from the Bay area just for Pete to do their hair. I am new to the area and was so shocked at how expensive salons are here. After calling about 4 different places I decided to go with this salon and was given Jessica's number when I called the salon. She was quick to respond and also texted me which is my preferred way of talking so that was really convenient communicating with her. I found the salon downtown and they have their own parking lot but you have to pay 50 cents and hour which is better than street parking on a 2 hour limit and having to rush back to your car. I met Jessica and she was so sweet and asked me a lot of questions about my hair color so she could get it right. I have dark hair and it always sucks leaving looking like a witch with jet black hair. Jessica nailed my hair color and the cut. She is talkative without it being overwhelming so we talked the whole time and the appointment flew by. With cut and color the total came out to $180 which isn't too far off from what I normally pay.
