Every time I come to Clovis to visit family I have to pay a visit to one of the 559's most unique brewery's in town. I absolutely love how they incorporate the local grown fruit in many of their beers. It's always a very subtle hint of fruit (not overpowering), just a enough to slightly add some flavor to their beers. I've never tasted anything else quite like them, and believe me I've been to brewery's all up down the coast and am the current beer club president at our company. I hate giving bad reviews. Especially when it concerns something that is so subjective, such as beer. But my wife and I and some friends dropped in here for some craft brew and not a single one of us liked any of the beers. I think the brewers are just trying to be too unique, and they are creating some concoctions that were just simply horrible smelling and tasting. I've been to dozens of breweries all around the country and this was the first time I've not been able to finish a beer flight. Even beer styles I don't love I will finish anyway. But I just literally couldn't get these ones down. Two of them just smelled so bad I couldn't get past the first sip. On the upside, the people who work there were so kind and friendly, and the vibe of the place was really cool. So that makes me feel really terrible to giving a one star review. I gave this a 1 for the 1 beer that was palatable. The staff was nice but just didn't get that we wanted a flight of beer. The WPA (Wawana Peach Ale) tasted like old apricots that molded. The WSA (Wawona Strawberry Ale) tastes like a strawberry soda. The only beer we liked was a new IPA. The CIA was okay. Off favors. Off bitterness. Just didn't come together. The atmosphere was okay but the high chairs felt like a child's chair that was too tall. Not my forté and we won't be back. We have been to hundreds of brew pubs, this is on my list of "the worst". If i could give less than 1 star I would. We went in last night and the lady working was horrible and rude so we ended up leaving after getting a beer. Fast forward to today we ended up going back because we left our card there. Upon waiting for the card this woman who worked there was yelling at everyone there customers employees and even her Boss Shery. Calling out customers for not sitting at the specific table she moved for them and how it inconvenienced her. Literally yelled it at them. She asked a guy who didn't even work there to serve other customers their drinks. Not only did he not work there but he was already drinking himself. Totally illegal. Right in front of my brother called her boss and was crap talking saying how it was such and inconvenience for her. Then some cusfomers left and she started talking badly about them for customers and everyone to hear. This person needs to be fired!! she treats everyone horribly. I cant believe her boss tolerates that kind of behavior! I will never come here again. We were offered a free sampling of the brew as soon as we stepped in the front door. After sampling several beers I was pleasantly surprised by the distinct taste of each one and had a tough time choosing my pick for the night. The Wawona Peach was Amazing!! Our family came her on Father's Day & they were out of the 2 beers my husband wanted to try. The menu is mediocre & the food was overpriced. The food wasn't that great & the service was below average. The lemonade tasted like Country time powdered lemonade and was watered down. The drinks came in a can & the waiter didn't even offer us a glass of ice. It's extremely hot outside so a cold drink would have been nice. The music was too loud in my opinion. Had the unfortunate experience of stopping by the 559 on 2/13/21 while waiting for our reservation at Lunas. Only to be met with lazy management that were unable to light the outdoor heaters and provide prompt courteous service to my fiancé and myself. Parched from dancing, I go to the front to purchase a root beer float. Staff ignored me for 5-7 minutes, then i pay with my card, wait even longer than i did before, and then a female employee approaches me and says they ran out of ice cream. They had been out of ice cream before i even made the purchase!! I had paid for a root beer float i would never receive!! A bit mad, i take my card to the front to get my refund. A male working the register told me the payment had been returned, gave me the receipt, and i left. today, I look on my mobil banking app, i NEVER received a refund. So, I tried to be reasonable and the owner had my review removed. It's posted below. I've been to this brewery at a grand opening type event. There was a band and there were 2 beers available. They were both so terrible, I assumed I got a bad batch or the lines were dirty. I just figured it was impossible to make and serve such bad tasting beer. They seemed infected. I was so convinced I bought a bottle! Alas, it was also terrible. The bottom line is, this is an inferior beer. All of them. But don't take my word for it. Try if for yourself.
