We had our company midyear event at Toca. I love how easy they made it for us to make arrangements to have our company event here. The grass area is so nice and lush. The best part for me was during the event sitting at the tables and looking out into the vineyard. The bathroom was super clean. The tasting room was really nice and appealing. Technically our job can't pay for alcohol, but employees that wanted to purchase their own alcohol could. The person working in the tasting room was very knowledgeable about every single one of their wines. They made it super easy for us to arrange our caterer to come and serve all of our employees and have entertainment. Everything was seamless. Set up to take down everything was great. Usually when we have an event, there's always a couple of people that will complain about something. No one had any complaints after our event they loved everything. They loved the scenery, the location, how relaxing and inviting the venue was. Everything If you're thinking about having an event here you will be very satisfied. read more

Visited this place with my husbands cousins a few weeks ago... I've never had so much fun with the hubby... we were in a group but we were kind of on a date night too. We ordered pizza from the pizza truck that was there, ordered wine from the bar, went and watched the jazz band front and center, The Vocalist, AMAZING voice. While we were enjoying the music, they must have thought we left so when we came back our new bottle of wine was gone. Cousin to the rescue went back inside and talked to them and they gave us a new bottle... Cheers cousin Jessica! I really liked the set up of the location and the people that were there, everyone was feeling the vibe and smiling at one another just as it should be all the time. I took some really bad pictures... I blame it on the wine... but I hope we do find something else there to go for... We talked to one of the workers and he was mentioning a couple upcoming events... The idea of "approachability" seems to conflict with the rigid format and overly structured timeline of the tasting, which felt rushed rather than relaxed or educational. Second, I don't doubt your winemaker's credentials or accolades -- and I certainly understand that taste is subjective -- but I found the wines to be lacking in complexity and depth. While awards may impress on paper, they don't always translate to a memorable sensory experience for every guest. I think it's important to recognize that while medals may validate a winemaker's technical proficiency, they don't guarantee every visitor will be wowed by the flavor profiles or varietal balance. Additionally, if your goal is to provide a thoughtful and curated tasting, then the pacing and engagement from staff during the session are key. Came here for first time as well as first time to the Madera Wine Trail. The ambience is beautiful out on the back patio with views overlooking the vineyards and live music. Came here on a Saturday at 12pm with reservations even tho we were only guests there (table of 5). Staff was very friendly and professional. We brought out own charcuterie plate which was nice. Very nice winery in Madera. Has an incredible outdoor area. The garden space is beautiful with a view to the vineyards. Great place for anyone looking for a party venue too. This is a review solely based on the Winery as a wedding venue. It was my dear friend's wedding earlier this month (May 2023) and it was a beautiful day. The winery itself is gorgeous; not too large but not too small. Intimate enough for about 175+ guests. The staff serving wine worked very fast and had great service. I would totally recommend having a wedding here (from a bridesmaid's opinion). The interior is modern and they were very bulked up with security all night. All of the bridal party were able to arrive early in the morning and the winery had a large "getting ready" space inside. There were 4-5 large mirror/make up stations for the makeup and hair artists to come and beautify us. There was space to store all 12 bridesmaids' dresses, change of clothes, and food. There was a sofa inside the room so the bride was able to have some of her family hang out in there. Overall, a beautiful view, a beautiful winery and a very beautiful venue for a wedding! read more

The dude and I participated in Madera Wine Trails the weekend before Valentines Day 2020. Toca Winery was probably my favorite winery to visit. I thought it was so thoughtful that my dude surprised me with experience. When we arrived we did not know we had to check in at each location so we strolled through here through the back and security swooped in faster than PD ever would. The security guard was so nice and respectful and let us know that at each winery we had to check in. The dude and I thanked him for the information and carried on. I tried a wine out of this world which I forgot to snap a picture of but it was a Sangria so yummy it didn't taste like alcohol so the dude purchased one bottle here and we explored the Winery. They had shopping in the patio area from honey vendor to chocolate and unique items like custom wine glasses. It was a packed house and I probably tried about 10 wines here. The bathrooms were very clean and tidy. Staff was friendly and this location is so beautiful! They had live music...i wanted to so stay here for the rest of the wine trails but we had to continue our journey. They also had food trucks and ample seating. Lovely winery. To start off, I've had very positive experiences here in the past. It's a shame that people in general remember negative experiences more vividly than positive ones when they write reviews such as this. We had 2 reservations already booked at 1PM yesterday, approximately 5 people in each reservation. When we arrived we were already aware that because our group had 2 separate reservations we might have to sit apart from each other (which was fine with us), we just wanted to enjoy some wine, buy some bottles and introduce wine tasting to some of our friends who had never experienced it before. At the front desk we were met by Phil and Cortney. We greeted Phil and explained we had 2 reservations for 2 different groups, he looked at all of us and said "I can't accommodate your reservations, you are cheating our system". We asked Phil about the "system" we were supposedly "cheating" and he told us because we had a large group (even with 2 separate reservations) we should have booked a private event and put down a deposit. After he said this we asked Phil if we could just sit separately and he said "No, we are refusing to serve you because we know what you all were intending to do". Most of us were pretty speechless because for myself I've never had a customer service representative begin the conversation with accusations of intentionally "cheating" their system. After this Phil seemed as if we were not worth his presence or time and nodded towards Cortney, and Cortney came over to the desk and explained she would be refunding us. We told her that we would just have to take our business to another winery and she said "that's fine..." "thanks for coming" , all while looking down never making eye contact with us. While we were walking out we were already on the phone with Fäsi Estate Winery down the road, and we explained to them we had a group of approximately 13 people. They were extremely polite and told us they would have a table and chairs ready for us in 20 minutes. We ended up having a great time and purchased over 12 bottles from Fäsi Estate Winery AND signed up for their Wine club! Phil & Cortney from Toca Madera could have handled the situation better from the start. I didn't expect this bad attitude and behavior from Phil, as he is the event coordinator for this winery. We had several friends in our group who had never been to a Winery before so this definitely was a bad first impression for them. read more

I would like to state that I am regularly not a person to write a negative review on businesses, but my brief interaction with the business yesterday had me feeling disrespected and utterly dehumanized. When my group had arrived at the winery for a reserved wine tasting, we arrived at the same time as another group of our friends that had a different reservation at the same time. I had to use the bathroom so I stepped in quickly and by the time I had left the bathroom the energy in the room had changed quickly. One of the staff, Cortney was being curt and snide saying that we were "cheating the system" since according to her our two friend groups were clearly together and we should have booked a private event. Keep in mind we were not asking for any special treatment and were more than willing to be seated at complete opposite sides of the winery, as we just wanted to have a good time and then meet up later for dinner with the rest of our friends, but they wouldn't hear of it continuing to call us cheaters of the system. I learned later that Cortney had taken over attending us from Phil, who according to my friends was making similar accusations and was just as rude as Cortney. When another staff member came in, I am unsure who it was but might have been a manager, and asked if he could help Cortney with us, she just stated sarcastically that she did not need help and that she was just trying to refund us as "they were cheating the system." This staff member seemed a little taken aback by what she had said, but did not say anything to Cortney or the rest of our group in order to get more context. All in all, I know our whole group felt extremely dehumanized to have been treated so poorly by customer service reps when we were trying to respond calmly and fairly. I hesitate to mention this, because I cannot know why they treated us so poorly, but I know that many in our group felt discriminated against because our group was Hispanic. I highly doubt that they would have treated more affluent, Caucasian customers the same way. Even if it was not racially motivated, customer service should never be so poor that you give your customers that doubt. The staff needs to be trained on how to be professional. Or they should be replaced with better staff. I would not be here writing this review if I was turned down professionally, with phrases such as "I'm sorry we won't be able to accept your reservations at this time, as it goes against company policy" or something similar. Instead we just got berated and attacked verbally throughout our interaction for who knows what reason. Luckily we took our business elsewhere further up north where we treated much better and bought over $200 worth of wine. I would never recommend Toco Madera for being one of the few places to ever treat me like a subhuman. read more

I have been to many wineries, from Temecula to Paso Robles and this one was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, wine was great but Phil really didn't seem to care if the customers were there or not. We have a 4:00 reservation and no urgency to get us seated. Gave our first pour, dirty glasses and left us empty for 10 minutes. We had to get up and ask for water. We eventually were served by Courtney and Lena, who were great! But Phil wasn't finished. He didn't hesitate to walk by our table after we received our 4th pour and said "Eight minutes left". We really didn't feel like valued customers. They barely had enough wine for our 5th pour and we missed out on the bonus pour. If you would like a lovely experience, enjoying wine on the beautiful property, this is not the place. read more

The winery is beautiful. They are an estate winery which means they grow their grapes right on sight. The tasting room and grounds are beautiful, service is great. There seem to be new pourers every time I've been there. It's nice to see new staff but this limits their knowledge of the wines. The wines are mellow and drinkable. They always have great musical events going on which makes it a fun hangout spot. Definitely one of our favorite wineries in the area and place to take guests and explore the region. The only thing I wish is that they have more comfortable seating. They used to have these great outdoor seats made from old barrels, but to keep with their decor, they modernized seats and they are not as comfortable. I guess they don't want you to get too comfy and hang out all day; the message is more like taste the wines and move on. That's the main downer for me. read more

this place is soo beautiful! We came here for a work event just when the sun was setting. We had the venue to ourselves and plenty of space for the guys to play some games, the women walk and talk, the wine was really good, they also provided beer and snacks and it was just soo relaxing. The twinkle lights shined above us when it got dark and the inside was nice and cool, it was just a great place to host a party. I can see the appeal to have a wedding there as well, so pretty. Unfortunately we were not able to try their wines or visit their location because it was impossible to get ahold of the event coordinator Phil. He messaged me via email a couple times with information about their tasting room; however when I attempted to book a tasting for a bachelorette party he never responded. I called and emailed him multiple times weeks prior to the date and I never received a call back. If your trying to visit their winery good luck reserving a tasting room. The only way to book a party of 10 is through the event coordinator. Edit: I emailed Phil my phone number in order to provide my credit card and he did reach out ONCE via telephone serval hours later. He called me at 7pm which is a random time to call and I missed his call. Prior to his phone call we emailed in the morning therefore I was expecting a call between the hours of 8am-5pm. The Toca Madera winery hosted our wedding a few days. My fiancé and I started planning the wedding in June of 2020 with Chelsey. She was the best! She was very detail oriented & very personable, we kept in touch a few times a month up till the month of November. She took the stress out of sooooo much. I recently went to a wedding at Toca Winery. First off, I felt like I was visiting a prison, with all the security. They hassles us because we brought some hard alcohol. Thats understandable. They wouldnt even let us take a glass of water back to the car. Way over the top!! Once the reception w the drinks started, I asked for some ice. They told me there is no edible ice....huh?? Then when I was looking around for a napkin, there were none to be found. I went in the bathroom for a paper towel. NOTHING!! I ended up using toilet paper. When it was time to eat, I asked for a beer. The bartendr told me the bar was closed. I couldnt even take a beer or anything to the table. Which only had a pitcher of warm water. At this point, I was pretty much in a bad mood. So we went back to the car and did shots. On our way out we were confronted by security, wanting to make sure we wernt taking a glass of warm water or something. I would not recommmend having a wedding here. If it is the summer and hot, which it was when I was there. You are going to sweat your butt off!! No shade. read more

For my first time ever attending a winery, I am disappointed to say that Toca Madera was the worst in terms of costumer service. A group of friends and I were attending this winery and had made reservations prior to attending. When we arrived, we were accused of "cheating the system" since our group in total was a group of 10, but we had made two separate reservations. Our goal was never to cheat the system as the first 5 people had made a reservation and later the rest of us confirmed our assistance and made a separate reservation for the same time. We could have sat a separate tables since we were going to have a good time regardless of how the seating worked. Instead, we were wrongfully accused of cheating the system when our two groups arrived at the same time. Phil did not even let us explain our situation. It made me wonder if the accusations were made because we were Mexican? It felt a bit racist when we were kicked out even after requesting that we should be treated as two separate groups. Instead we ended up going to Fäsi Estate Winery in where they treated us politely and with respect. I recommend you go to Fäsi which is not far away from Toca Madera. I wouldn't want to give business to a place that doesn't have to professional service. The situation could have been handled differently at Toca Madera! read more

One word: wow!!! I'm surprised I've never been here before. I was really amazed by the warm service amongst a rush of people. Came here for a live band, which they're an awesome venue for. The venue is very pretty for a wedding. I loved their wine. I tried the contigo which was similar to a Chardonnay. I also tried the companero which was an awesome red blend. Toca Madera's sign can be seen on Avenue 9, but what you can't see on the road are the AMAZING vineyard views. Toca's by far, has the best views of any local winery. The sommelier advised us that in addition to weddings, they also have bands or dj's perform on the terrace. The wines are great. I really enjoyed their marsanne. I have been coming to this winery for years. I joined on my first visit (sure it was after a few bottles of wine to the dome but I don't regret it). The environment is incredible! Whether it be the views, the food in wine release parties made by Shane, or the live music, I literally have never had a bad time. I have gone out there in the rain, the cold, and the head and it's always so enjoyable. The wine is incredible and I feel so grateful to have a little gem like this so close. However, my favorite part of Toca by FAR is the staff. Courtney (who is no longer there) Phil and Alison are amazing! Phil can be seen at any given moment literally breaking his back for the patrons to move tables, chairs and grab tastings at the same time. He has been our go to guy for reservations and all things events if we have questions on what happening at the winery. Allison is hilarious! I love when she is pouring our wines because not only is she so knowledgeable, I actually just want to hang out with her! She is such a fun time and totally embodies the exceptional experience I have at Toca each and every time I go there. If you haven't tried this place, run, don't walk! Wow! I had my wedding at Toca Madera Winery and it was the best decision we ever made. The venue is absolutely breathtaking and so dreamy. It is so luscious and their grounds are very well taken care of. The bridal suite is gorgeous, spacious with vanities and a bar area. The wine is amazing and the staff is so pleasant. Cortney at Toca Madera is the best coordinator ever! Thank you Cortney for going above and beyond for Joshua and me before, during and after our wedding.
