Great drinks, excellent lunch, and even better view! There's a cute back area as well, which I would've sat at, but it was a little hot. However, there's an amazing view overlooking the water and downtown Fish Creek, so I was able to snag a seat. I had a Matcha lemonade, which I've never had before, and it was fantastic. I also had curry chicken salad, which was very good. The lettuce looked and tasted like it. It just came out of someone's garden, and now I am ruined. Fantastic little place for lunch. Everything is packaged to go, but you can sit in the back or front of the restaurant. It's right next to the beach and a tiny little playground so it's perfect to pick up food here for a little picnic. We chose to sit in the back of the restaurant but I think it would've be wonderful to sit in front and get a waterfront view. The food is fabulous. We got their soup (only one option), egg sandwich (they serve breakfast all day), curry chicken salad and turkey sandwich. Their turkey sandwich was the best thing on the menu that we ordered and the best turkey sandwich I've tasted in recent memory. Soup was warm and comforting. All the other food was also well made. Whenever I visit Door County, a stop at Blue Horse Beach Cafe in Fish Creek is a must for breakfast or lunch. Their sandwiches are always fresh and delicious, and the bread they use is so good- it's soft, hearty, and the perfect base for their flavorful fillings. One of my favorites is the Curry Chicken Salad sandwich--it's bursting with sweet and spicy flavor. Their soup is great, often with a spicy kick that I love. Blue Horse clearly enjoys experimenting with Indian spices, and it shows in their bold, unique flavors. I mean, who wouldn't want to visit a restaurant that has a sculpture on the front lawn that looks like Blucifer, the blue horse of death that's said to be one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? I love thinking about the end times while I'm sipping coffee. It's so good for digestion. The coffee here is really good. I just got a black drip coffee, which is my preferred. It was nutty and smooth, and didn't get bitter as it cooled like some black coffee can. Blue Horse Beach Cafe offers all-day breakfast, like breakfast sandwiches, bagels, breakfast burritos and other handheld foods. I got the Sausage & Egg in a Biscuit (catchy name), which is a sausage patty, egg and a slice of cheddar inside a buttermilk cheese biscuit. It was great -- especially the biscuit. They make them in-house. I think they are premade, though, which is a bit of a bummer. The reason why I think this is because I was originally going to order a different sandwich but swap out the ciabatta for a biscuit, and the people behind the counter told me that they can't make substitutions, because the sandwiches are already made. Alrighty! Despite the sandwiches being preassembled and warmed up, mine was really good. Sunrise egg sandwich at the Blue Horse Beach Cafe is a great way to start the day if you're out in Door County. You'll get a little morning energy from the buzz in the cafe, as well as the sweet treats they've got to offer. It's sort of a weird thing; the line can be out the door, and the hold-up is not from the staff. Whatever it is about the place just has people sitting at the checkout register asking questions about so many things on the menu. I'm not knocking the cafe for it--I've sat in line for a long time just because of people taking long amounts of time to order food or drinks. You're already likely waiting in line to begin with, but it's even longer because people get to the register and take awhile to order their food. So if you see a long line and you're in a rush, it's likely not going to be a fast-moving line--just keep it in mind. Anyway, the overlook to the water, as well as the back seating area, is a great spot to relax while you're enjoying the food and/or drinks here. And when you're done, walking across the street by the water and catching some rays is a great way to start your day. Nice sandwiches and prices; we have not been disappointed with anything we've ever gotten here. The place is a pleasure to visit when we go to Door County. read more

I'm still thinking about the sandwich I ate here, if that tells ya anything! We've been to Door County many times, but somehow only recently made the visit to the locally-loved Blue Horse. It was a rec not only on Yelp, but also from a handful of friends. Turns out it was indeed a great little place with tasty food. It's a quite a small sandwich shop but that's what makes it cozy and quaint. They have a front room for sitting, with huge windows looking out at the water. Plenty of more seating outside in the rear of the building too. It's an order-at-the-counter type of scenario, and then they call your name when it's ready. Very casual in the best way. They do all day brekkie and lunch anytime - from sammies and bagels to salads and wraps. Also a variety of cafe drinks including unique lattes. I honestly had such a tough time choosing what to order but in the end got the roast turkey sandwich with tomato, lettuce, pickled onion, house-made mayo, provolone cheese and fresh basil pesto on ciabatta bread. It was the right decision! They don't short ya on the fillings and ciabatta was nice and squishy on the inside, and the perfect harder outside. The rest of the group got various items like the sunrise breakfast sandwich, lox & bagel, and the jalapeno eggs. Happy customers all around! We were on a camping trip to Peninsula State Park when we stopped by the Blue Horse Beach Cafe for the first time. We had heard from folks in Milwaukee that this was the place to stop and so glad we did! First of all--it's cute as a button. It's absolutely adorable inside and out. They have some amazing outdoor seating in the back in addition to being right across the street from the lake. What's not to love? We ordered a specialty latte (chocolate covered cherries latte--it is Door County after all) as well as a basic egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was good but basic. We were taking it to go and I didn't want anything overly messy as we'd be eating in the car. They did have some other super interesting breakfast sandwiches on the menu that I'd opt for next time. The latte was decadent and delicious. The service for our coffee was swift and lovely. The food took inordinately long (considering they were not at all busy at the time) but came out piping hot. I've been coming here consistently for 5 years. They have never got an order of mine wrong and the food is consistently exceptional. They have never failed me and I will continue to come back. What a great place! It's Veterans Day so not a lot of establishments are open. I'm visiting the area for work and wanted a local cup of coffee. So I drove almost 2 hours from Marinette (not really local) to check this place out. It was worth the drive for sure. Very easy ordering process. We had a great lunch here in door County at the blue horse Beach Café. I got a gluten-free breakfast sandwich on a gluten-free bun They make the bacon pretty crispy, and the sausage was good too. My wife got the curry chicken salad and really liked it For dessert, they sold a brand called "naturally delightful" and I got some oatmeal raisin bites.... Okay- I've been going up to door county since I was born and have always seen the Blue Horse Cafe sitting in Fish Creek and have never stopped in. I must be crazy because this was one of the best breakfast places in door county! For a loaded breakfast sandwich and a breakfast burrito (not pictured), it was only 19$! I think that's a bargain compared to some of the breakfast joints in the area. I would have loved to try the coffee or even their matcha drinks but I knew I had to get some food instead. The Tuscan Breakfast Sandwich was actually amazing. Warm ciabatta, turkey, a runny egg, cheese and Italian dressing. So good, it came pipping hot and quick too! The breakfast burrito also hit the spot. It had chorizo, lime rice, egg, cheese, black beans and veggies with a side of habanero salsa that was so good I could've drank it. The cutest tucked away cafe in Fish Creek! The service was great too! Loved the patio seating and it overlooks the fish creek beach so I bet come summer, this place is busy! This place makes you feel like you are somewhere coastal, without leaving the Midwest! They were extremely inviting with their decor and entryway, and the employees were so warm with greetings! They were also very helpful as we were navigating their menu. When I was looking at it online, it didn't show that you could pretty much build your own breakfast sandwich... DO THAT. So delicious. And I HAD to snag a chocolate croissant for a pick me up later in the day! I had a meeting during our time here, and they have the best little dining area that is essentially a bar, looking out at the water that is across the street.
