We have been to Amphora many times prior to last night but after our disappointing experience last night we may not go back. The place was not busy and tables were open but we chose 2 seats at the bar. The bar was also not full. A server gave us water immediately and some menus. And then we waited and waited. Finally after watching the 2 bartenders clean glasses, walk back and forth, chat with others at the bar, we asked if we could order drinks. We got our drinks and were not asked if we wanted to order food. The service was at the lowest laziest point I've seen in a long time. The place slowly filled up and others were served. Not sure why we were invisible. We had to ask to close out and when she brought the check I explained our experience. She was nice and apologized but the service was so unprofessional and although we love to support small local businesses there are too many choices to put up with inattentive service. We paused after dinner at this wine bar and enjoyed sipping a couple of glasses before heading back to our hotel room. I loved the interior design with the modern garage door window that opened up the whole side wall to the warm summer evening. The plant array on the wall near the bar gave an organic feel to the ambiance. While the initial entrance has limited cozy seating with tables and a long bar, there is actually a back room a well. The bartender was nice and got our drinks out to us right away. The snacks they offered sounded really good, but we were quite full. I was content to enjoy a glass of port, which was excellent. Neat little spot for sheet dinner drinks; I would definitely go again next time I find myself in Green Bay. read more

Great Gatsby vibes! The space: You walk in and feel transported back in to the roaring 20s - will black and gold art deco decor. I just love it! You just want to grab a cocktail at the bar. It's so inviting. The drinks: Yes, it's a wine bar! Grab that wine menu and find something you enjoy. But don't dismiss the cocktail menu - I have been able to have some AMAZING cocktails here. It just might be my favorite cocktail bar in the Green Bay Area. I was able to have a pisco sour - which is incredible hard to find up in these parts. The food. My husband and I met here for our first date. We were asked to leave because theyd been closed 20 minutes, were empty, and the lights were on. Lol we go back every year on that day and have a date. I visited for the first time on Saturday night and sat at the back bar. We had exceptional drinks, excellent service and delicious food. We dined with friends and did not take pictures, however I will next visit. We had the hummus, lamb meatballs, rosemary focaccia, chicken skewers, truffle oil chips and garlic dip and fried brussel sprouts and cauliflower. We have been back in town this summer & we continue to frequent the Wednesday Farmer's Market on Broadway. Even though we no longer live here we do love to go to our favorite spots! Amphora continues to be one of our favorites!! I asked for a Vesper Martini as I had seen on an older menu on Yelp and I wanted to try one as I had seen it on the 2nd to the last 'This Is Us'. The waiter bartender told me it would be no problem to make for me! It was fantastic!! And, presented to me rather nicely with the small piece of lemon peel in a 'V. Just so!! Met friends here for dinner when we were visiting Green Bay. We sat in the back bar area and started with cocktails (grapefruit jalapeño margarita. Tao of bourbon, and an Old Fashioned). The margarita was not at all spicy and refreshing! We then moved onto salads, sharing the special salad - beets, carrots, micro greens, and fried goat cheese. We all agreed it was very good! Next up was focaccia with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - nothing stand out here, "grilled cheese" - queso blanco grilled cheese, crostini, grapes, apple slices, and jam. This was very tasty, although I ended up using some of the focaccia as the crostinis kept breaking. Also had the pork belly (with bread, mustard, and cherries). I'm vegetarian but the other three enjoyed it. Krista was an attentive server and warned us that a large party (14) would be arriving at 8 pm. We were out before then but appreciated the heads up. Only things keeping this from a five star review: the music was a tad loud, interfering with conversation, and the chairs had wheels and I kept rolling away from the table! read more

One of my favorite spots for dinner in Green Bay. Excellent choice if you love food that is not your standard fare. Wide variety of food with vegetarian and vegan options. The ambiance is retro, warm and inviting. The service is reliably exceptional. My friend has a corn allergy and has to be careful where she can eat and she can reliably eat here due to the quality of ingredients. They have a lovely back patio for outdoor seating. I came here on a mini date night with my husband and I loved it. The building is gorgeous with a take back to art deco architecture. I was obsessed with the owl wallpaper on one of the walls. I ordered a white wine flight (3 oz) pours, the shareable plates of bread and meat/cheese plate. I really loved the bread with the dipping sauce of olive oil/ balsamic vinaigrette. The meat/cheese tray was good it could use some sort of sauce/jam on the plate. Otherwise the quality of the options offered on the plate we enjoyed. NOW the wine flight-- What a great idea! I loved picking out the three types of wine that were served on a little board with stemless wine glasses. I enjoyed tasting each kind and if I did not like one that was okay it was a small 3oz pour. This is a great date night location. Pick a flight of three wines you want to try so you don't have to commit to just one. We had three shareable plates. One was a special fried mozzarella in risotto. Incredible. Then we did the Swiss cheese fondue plate. I would have never paired red peppers with Swiss cheese, but it was excellent. Then we had the lamb meatballs which came with all the fixings for your own gyro type of bite. The lamb had just a little kick and the cucumber sauce balanced it out great. We had the PB&J old fashion for dessert. I know, it sounds strange, but be warned, this will go down smooth. (Also have beer if that's your thing). I LOVE their French 75. In addition to a great wine selection, they offer wine flights for some of their wines so you can have a variety and then choose your favorite. If you go towards the back during the summer, they open up the tables to make it an indoor/outdoor area which I LOVE. The bartenders have always been spectacular. They have a a decent selection of small plates on the menu, but I do wish they expanded the food menu a little bit. It hasn't really mattered for us as we usually go here before or after dinner anyways. I had been waiting to check this place out since I moved back from Tampa. Stopped in last night (4/5/24). The people who worked there were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered in Green Bay Wisconsin. We had just had dinner at the Bottle Room and wanted to stop for a nightcap. I asked the bartender if they had any blends and he said "one" and poured it. Didn't ask me to taste it. Come to find out, it was terrible. I had heard that the back bar isn't as pretentious as the front bar so we went back there instead. The bartender with the dreads was great. The blonde with her was so rude. We asked for a round of drinks as she was just standing there on her phone drinking her Dunkin. She then asked the other bartender to do it. It's always exciting when a new business opens up, and Green Bay just a got a new trendy wine bar, Amphora! They were open a couple nights during the Farmers Market, but I went on their first official night of being open. Like any new business, there are always a couple of hiccups. They were taking only cash because their credit card machine wasn't working, and their ATM wasn't working either. The good news is that was the only issue for the night! For that night everyone got a complimentary meat and cheese board, which was a tasty delight! They have a small drink menu. About 15 each of red and white wines, close to 10 craft cocktails, and about a dozen bottled beers (nothing to exciting in that department). You have to appreciate when the menu is quality over quantity as the three red wines I had were very good. Be ready, you're going to pay anywhere between $7-13 for a glass, but you can get half a glass for a little less. Obviously you can buy a bottle if you really want to indulge yourself. My friend had two of their cocktails, the El Choto (mezcal, rosemary honey syrup, lime & cider) and the Pisco sour (brandy lime, simple syrup, egg white) and was impressed by both of them. I sipped on the pisco sour and it definitely wowed me. The space is small, dark with a modern feel. There's plenty of seating at the bar, tables, and stools by the big glass windows up by the front. It can get crowded pretty quick. Good thing there is a second bar area in the back which is about the same size, so there's plenty of space for a small wine bar. Service was good for the first. I recognized the bartenders as they've worked at other bars. They knew what they were doing and was attentive to everyone. Only hiccup was finding the right bottle, and having to open so many wines lol. It's a great addition for downtown, and excited to see them grow and prosper! read more

I love this cute little wine bar! First off, I'm a waitress at a fine dine restaurant myself so I know great service and food when I see (or taste) it. The waitress was by herself when we went in and still provided us with amazing service although it was very busy. The cocktails and food were out of this world!!! We got the cheese board and Rosemary focaccia to start with the cat's meow and basil gimlet, then, we ended with the NY strip tartar.
