I stumbled upon here with some friends after coming from another bar. It was very loud, but somewhat a vibe. Apparently it was R&B dinner club night where the DJ spinned R&B hits and you ate a prix fixe meal which looked good but my friends and I only ordered drinks at the bar (we had already ate). The drinks were well made. The cucumber gin drink was delicious and not too sweet. It was just too damn loud. Music was good, just wished they turned it down a a tad bit. There were tickets/cover for this event but we didn't have to pay since we came before 10pm.

Went for a work happy hour. Super spacious inside and the front is a sports bar but the back has more of a cocktail lounge feeling which was cool. The drinks were overall good I liked my cucumber cocktail. It's pretty loud inside but service was good too.

Our corporate events are always here. We were on the 2nd floor. There are 3 bathrooms up there. Decor was nice. They had pitchers of water. The cocktails were good and strong. I had the espresso martini and lychee martini. Bartenders were nice.

Soo disappointed. My co-worker made reservations for us and they had a table for us upstairs. When we sat down, a server came to our table and dropped off water. However, she seemed annoyed and practically tossed the cups at us. Hoping it was just an oversight, but this went on the rest of the night. The other server tried, but she kept forgetting our drinks and we had to flag them multiple times after waiting for a very long time. The first girl literally looked at us and acted like she didn't see us. We considered getting food, but after how hard it was just to get a drink, we opted out. I will say, they may have been short -staffed, but ignoring customers when they politely call for you and having an attitude is not the way to go. Simple communication about the situation is usually enough to help people understand and most will be patient. We were made to feel like an inconvenience, which is a shame when our company has booked multiple events here and we even had a separate event going on downstairs. With so many choices in NYC, not sure I would give this a second try. Sadly, the drinks were not very good either. One of my drinks even had a weird aftertaste.

I ordered a martini here at a networking event. I finished it pretty quickly, an indicator that I liked the drink. The service here was quick as my friends and I arrived before the crowd. The space was pretty open, so it was easier to mingle. There was also plenty of seating available.

Andrea was our server and she was so attentive, fun and kind. We had a tough work day & cancelled flights. We had the worst day and Andrea made our night. This is now our go-to place above all in this area, by far.

We consistently have work happy hours here, and Idk this place is just uninspired. It is essentially trying to be a Yard House (no shade I LOVE Yard House), but comes up short. The music is a bit too loud, the food is the definition of 3 stars, and the place is littered with finance bros. But this is finance bro capital of the Solar System so I should have anticipated that.

Spinach artichoke dip - better than Applebee's - I kid you not! I personally think applesbees SA dip is the bomb so...take my word for it...this is gooood stuff! Came here for after work drinks with a friend! To be honest, I had 2 Happy Hours that week so I was cocktailed out...stuck to a crisp pinot which was really nice. They have a good HH drink menu. But we'll be going back just for the spinach artichoke dip. Hats off to our waitress - she was super attentive and right on point with this reco. It comes with a side of truffle pita chips, but we swapped out for basic tortilla chips. I don't mind truffle oil, but honestly, it can sometimes be quite overpowering. This way, you can properly savor the dip! We also ordered the buffalo cauliflower bites. I don't recommend it. They were just disappointing. The place is almost like an upscale sports bar. TVs everywhere. A really cool open window concept in the front, so you can ppl watch if you're so inclined. We were deep into our conversation, so didn't do much of that. But it helped that the place was not super noisy. It was the perfect spot for a proper catch-up.

Came here for my cousin's birthday. However, I was hungry because it was 3 p.m. day party. I got a few drinks and ordered lobster mac and cheese, and wow!! It was really good. So my brother ordered grilled chicken, and he was like, "Yo! Food is good here, so highly recommended y'all."

I had my birthday party here and had a great time! We had the back of the first floor to ourselves. 5th & Mad is such a gorgeous venue! I absolutely love the ambiance and moody lights. Service was great. Yoshi and Vanessa are amazing! They played the playlist I made for my party. I had an amazing and unforgettable birthday and all my friends really enjoyed themselves.

I may be biased because I do not enjoy this area of manhattan and find many of the spots here to be mediocre. Unfortunately, 5th & Mad is one of those. I will say there are some perks to this spot that I'll get to! This barsteraunt is beautiful and not too far from the 34th st stop. It's well decorated from the holidays, so if you are visiting the city it could be worth dropping in. The major perk is the number of TVs they have!! I wish I knew this spot when it was world cup season. They had some yule log up which added to the festive vibe. Outside of the vibe, the waitress was very nice (and so pretty). We had a group of 11 which can be overwhelming, but she handled us super well. I visited on a Wednesday and it was dead. Not another table full! This was advantageous for us as I could hear conversations down the table. I had the Smokey Mezcal Paloma which was nice but not that impressive. It isn't a sweet drink in my opinion, so keep that in mind if you have a sweet tooth. The Midtown Heat was also a popular pick. As for food, it is not worth it -- please stick to the drinks!! $20 for a slider-sized burger is not it. The fries were really good though (included with the burger). I tasted a friend's Mac & Cheese which was good but nothing special. Seriously just buy a pack of Mac & Cheese and some cream to make at home. Overall, it's fine. That's about it!

$175 worth of food - abysmal.

I hosted a professional event here for a group of 35 lawyers. I'll start by saying the venue is absolutely gorgeous. All of the servers were very kind to myself and my guests however I was incredibly disappointed by how much I was overcharged for food and the managers refusal to remedy the issue. For $1100 I paid for 50 drink tickets and 3 platters of food. Nowhere on the marketing brochure was there any indicator that the food platters serve 3-4 ppl. Considering that each platter is $55-70 I would imagine that would be a detail worth mentioning since I stated this event was for 35 ppl. When the food came out I explained to the manager why this was an issue and she simply shrugged her shoulders and said well you can always order more food. That definitely wasn't the response I was expecting. It was further baffling because we were the only group in the venue at the time so all sales and business was generated directly from my group. That being said I will not being visiting this business again.

We stopped in here really quick, new cute spot with good music and good vibes. Loved the atmosphere in here and the owner was so nice! And tall. I hope to stop back by because this is definitely the type of spot to come on a cute date night. The owner also let us see upstairs as well. Beautiful decor and furniture there is another full bar up here with plenty of intimate space. It was empty at the time we were touring this area. Highly recommend to check this spot out, very different vibes you would expect for this area in a good way. I will be back with a bigger appetite and more thirsty!

Is this place good for dancing?

The upstairs dance floor is kind of small compared to a club, but you can dance. If it's crowded, you'll not only be brushing up against your partner but other people as well.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.

Dim lighting, plush seating, rich wood + wallpaper details, and that lounge-library vibe make the place feel like a secret hideout right in the middle of Midtown. It's moody, cozy, and effortlessly intimate -- perfect for a date night, a chill catch-up, or just a night out with good drinks. Nice service, too! However: be ready for the price tag. The cocktails are absolutely beautiful -- well crafted, creative, and flavorful -- but each one will remind you that you're not exactly paying dive-bar prices. It's worthwhile, but the "overpriced drinks" vibe absolutely hits. That said: the interior design and ambience are amazing. My only two gripes with the spot were - they didn't acknowledge my birthday, even with a happy birthday from my server or the hostess. Though there wasn't a dish that just blew my mind, everything was consistently really good and enjoyable. I recommended ordering a handful of dishes and sharing with a group. The cornstar martini was fun (and the popcorn was great!), the vodka pasta, caesar salad, and truff fries were enjoyable as well. The cute matchboxes were a cherry on top as we were leaving!
