Good coffee, delicious bibimbap, and very friendly service! It is a bit tucked away in an office building but there is ample parking nearby.

I decided to grab dinner at The Cheesecake Factory recently, and I had a really satisfying meal. I…read morealways know to expect massive portions here, and I definitely left with plenty of leftovers. I started off with the cheeseburger spring rolls. I loved the crispy, flaky wrapper, and I thought the two different dipping sauces provided a perfect flavor contrast. I could have honestly just eaten a whole plate of these for my meal. For the main course, I went with the meatloaf. I found the meat to be incredibly tender, and I really enjoyed the savory gravy on the mashed potatoes alongside the sweet corn. I also tried the chicken penne pasta. I thought the creamy sauce was well-seasoned, and I loved that they added crispy onion strings on top for a fantastic crunch. I am giving this visit 4 out of 5 stars because, while the food was delicious and comforting, the restaurant was extremely loud and I had a fairly long wait for a table. I will definitely return the next time I have a big appetite and a craving for something hearty!

The Cheesecake Factory as it exists in the Portland metro area is hilarious…read more This food-obsessed, but sparsely populated region is geographically remote enough that most major casual dining chains either plant a handful of locations in its suburbs or bypass it altogether. Despite the fact that the city itself had two full malls downtown until just recently (RIP Lloyd Center), they weren't the type of places that were going to throw a TGI Friday's at customers. Pioneer Square was more likely to encourage you to pop into Din Tai Fung after dropping four figures at Tiffany's. There are exactly two locations of The Cheesecake Factory in Portland, and this is the most heavily trafficked one. Located in the area's most thriving/least dying mall, this Cheesecake Factory lures the kind of business traveler and transplanted suburbanite who seeks comfort in the familiarity of its menu's multiple pages. Its entire purpose its to serve food for every palate that tastes the same in Tigard as it would in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts; Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood; Wayne, N.J.; or at Caesars in Las Vegas. The stained glass and columns are from a kit, the foods are pre-prep, the uniforms are, well, uniform. You don't go here because you're looking for a new experience: You go because you want something you know and either don't have to think about or have memories of that aren't tied to this new, strange place. However, because there are only two for hundreds of miles (the next closest location is Tacoma), it's treated like Disneyland. The family and I were unfortunate enough to be roped into a trip here by extended family who were staying near the mall, and the crowds and lines were akin to people trying to get into Ivar's on a sunny summer day in Seattle when a cruise ship had just pulled in. Considering the baseline, chain-restaurant cuisine you're being offered, there's absolutely no reason to fight this kind of congestion unless you're feeling particularly homesick for your local mall. I have had friends in multiple major cities who've sworn by Cheesecake Factory for various reasons, and this latest trip just confirmed what I thought then: I don't get it. If you have the privilege of living in a place where not only is this not your only option, but where chains like Chili's, Outback, TGI Friday's and their ilk have been actively dissuaded from setting up shop because of the quality of mid-range food offered, exercise that privilege and go anywhere by here. Maybe start nearby at Banning's and work from there.

Beyond the bar is a small and effective protocol for exclusively in-house, fresh prepped treats; always made per order. The (cheese) sauces for chips/macaroni on everything, all the time.

For the past few months or possibly more, there is a server/closing-manager (male Caucasian, glasses, ponytail) who only reluctantly provides the HH menu. About two months ago, I asked when HH started, and he said in 7 minutes (i.e., it was 9:53pm). I asked how much I'd save on the beer I was contemplating if I waited for 7 minutes, and he said a dollar or two, so I told him I'd wait until then to place my order. It seemed like a pretty light day, yet he took a full 20+ minutes to come take our order -- it felt like he was punishing me. Last night, it was 10:10pm and I asked if there was a HH menu. He said "not yet." I thought he meant that they hadn't yet been published, but when I went to the bar to say hi to someone I know, I saw a HH menu already on the bar. I'd already ordered off the regular menu, and chose to not change to something on the HH hour just to avoid the conflict. I have no idea what is inspiring this behavior. Perhaps people who order off HH menus don't tip well? In any case, this new HH attitude has definitely dampened my enthusiasm for Fireside. Which is sad since it still has a great tap list and menu.

To be honest, when our plans to go bowling and have lunch at Big Al's today fell through because…read morethey didn't open till 3, but we still wanted to eat (and hadn't had breakfast yet at 1:30), I tried every option I could think of to not go to Bannings. When we moved to Oregon, it was under construction but we kept hearing how good it was - in fact, all the local FB pages would gush about it when a newcomer would ask about the best restaurant. And once it finally opened, we tried it, but it was kind of like Marie calendars and Shari's, but local. Ok, but not what we had expected for all the hype. So, after trying a handful of options it seemed Bannings was the only place we could still get breakfast so I begrudgingly agreed. Well, I was mistaken! I got the breakfast enchiladas and a strawberry orange mimosa. Now, the mimosa - I'll get that out of the way first. It was weird - it looked curdled. It just had mashed strawberry at the bottom and it actually was quite good. I'd do a normal mimosa in the future, but good. But the enchiladas - delicious. Like, I'll come back again and again for those. And they didn't charge me extra for the avocado, which I think is righteous because I asked for no hash browns. But not all places would do that, they'd nickel and dime even if you passed on one side for another. Additionally; my husband likes a savory breakfast and a sweet one too - so he often gets two breakfasts and though he may not eat all of both he gets that savory and sweet. Well, the omelettes come with 3 pancakes. Perfection. And, I took 3 bites of them - I usually might try 1 or not at all - they are very very good. Last - it did not break the bank. I've about ruled out breakfast out because of how crazy expensive the places that should be reasonable are. This was reasonable - PLEASE DONT CHANGE!! All in all 5 stars, will be back for breakfast; and hey - when I'm wrong I can admit I was wrong! Give them a try if you haven't!

My go-to spot for a delicious and comfortable meal!…read more I am a regular at the Nordstrom Marketplace Cafe (2F), and it consistently delivers a wonderful experience. Whether you're a solo diner or with family, the layout is excellent--I love the cozy 2-person side tables when I'm by myself, and they have great booth seating for groups. The atmosphere is bright, clean, and very welcoming. During my recent stay in Tigard, I enjoyed: * Spicy Wild Shrimp Pomodoro: Perfectly seasoned and delicious. * Penne Bolognese & Chicken Meatballs: They offer gluten-free penne, which is a huge plus! The texture and flavor were spot on. * Cilantro Lime Salad & Roma Tomato Basil Soup: A fresh, comforting, and reliable choice. * Hot Mint Tea: The perfect way to round out the meal. What truly sets this place apart is the staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly and professional--the kind of service that makes you want to leave a generous tip and keep coming back. ### A few tips for your visit: Beat the Crowd: It gets very busy during weekend lunch hours, and takeout orders can take some time. If you're like me and prefer not to wait, order online in advance! It's a major time-saver. Parking: Since it's located at Washington Square Mall, there is plenty of parking available, though it fills up fast on weekends. Highly recommended for a high-quality, reliable, and friendly dining experience!
