My breakfast special (before 11AM)
Joseph M.

I love this hidden gem. You'll need to look past the fast food and the Mexican food (that all tastes the same to me, sadly). This places has a very wide variety, like a traditional diner should. They have Excellent service;Friendly and attentive. The food was very good. The chicken and rice soup was delicious and not watery (like Campbells), but creamy and thick with actual chicken and rice. I would have taken a photo, but I ate it too quickly. So i did make a mistake and ordered a double jalapeño burger. It''s way, way, too much food, but I managed to eat almost all of it. It too was delicious. I considered lowering my review by one star because the hamburger started frozen. I would have definitely dropped it 1/2 of a star, but that wasn't an option, so I'm erring on the side of their fabulous service and friendliness. The burger was 4 stars; better than McDonalds but not as good as a hand formed one. Finally, I must say their pies and pie selection is amazing. I'm ready to go back.

Inside Dining

Family diners always catch my attention because I know 9 times out of 10, you're gonna get a great meal. 7 Days Diner came through again for us today. This is a small town diner with a mix of regulars and visitors off of the highway looking for something other than chain. The inside dining area is spacious with that home decor look and a nice mix of tables and booths. If you come by in the morning, get a fresh cup of coffee or latte with your home made breakfast. We ate later in the afternoon and had the chicken stir fry and a Rueben sandwich which were real tasty. The soup of the day was vegetable beef. To finish it off we had a piece of pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream. Everything was delicious. Our server took good care of our table just like one of the family. I'll be back!

We were just passing thru and stopped for dinner. We walked in and was greeted and seated immediately. The staff was extremely friendly. The food was fresh and the order was accurate. I wish the staff at every restaurant was this polite and attentive. I can't praise this place enough. A very relaxed family environment.

Ordered an omelet, hash browns, and pancakes and they were all delicious. Very chunky veggies and meats. My only complaint is the prices. I find the food portion and quality is not close to the very high prices.

Phenomenal food. Very clean. Good prices and excellent service. I wish this place was closer. Tip: get the dessert!

Delicious food - not just pre-packaged, reheated fare that is common at diners. Friendly staff. Restaurant is frequented by locals.

The quality of the seafood was a very clean tasting seafood. Even the shrimp had a nice clean flavor. And we're you looking for butter? Oh, they do (not) spare the sticks of butter at this place! The potato. Oh yes, I said "potato". I have never had a seafood bowl - have (just) a single potato. The potato tasted absolutely great. But 1 potato? That was a joke - especially after you see what these items cost! The garlic butter: There was plenty of butter. Tye flavoring of the butter, certainly was unique of sorts. Seemed to have (possibly) a chili powder base. And though I thought it was good...I also got tired of the taste, after a bit. The Big Downer at this place: Cost. You see my (2) platters. Add (3) cans of Coke - the cost was $150.00. Yes, that's correct: $150.00. Sure, there's a whole lobster on one of the platters. BUT, it wasn't that big by any means. And let's remember: 1 potato was included in the platter. 1 small red potato, came with it; at that price! Lol. Conclusion: Krustaceans is where you should go - for the seafood boiler platters. A much better combination of quality, value and price.

So glad we tried this place! Being from Florida and going to a seafood place in a landlocked state…read moreis not usually something I do. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was amazing, full of helpful info about the menu. He told us how the seafood comes in fresh. He recommended oysters to us, and since it was our first time, he threw in a couple of his favorites at no charge. It was also happy hour, and we took advantage of the specials, ordering the cheddar biscuits drizzled with honey and the colossal cocktail shrimp. They really were huge and delicious. We also enjoyed half-price oysters. My husband loved the crushed cocktails We split the mahi-mahi, and we loved how he told us about the fresh fish that had never been frozen and whether it was wild or farm-raised. The mahi was incredible. You could tell it was fresh. We enjoyed the potatoes and the BéreBlanc sauce. This is going to be a place that we will end up becoming regulars at. So happy to have tried it!

I know I'm a bit behind on my reviews again, but posting now other than later is still fine. lol.. I'm doing my best to keep up with what life is throwing at me. That being awkwardly included and all, sis and I dined on some of the best food I've had in a while. We shared smoked oysters topped with bread crumps and parmesan, a super spicy and flavorful salsa-type appetizer with habanero that came with surprisingly flavorful chips lol, we shared some crab cakes, a beautiful aquatic-toned alcoholic drink, and shared one of the best trout dishes I have ever had in my entire human life! 0__0 The rainbow trout was our favorite part of that entire experience, which was tough to decide on honestly.. My 2nd best thing were those oysters! Our waiter was so kind and entertaining, and I really hope we get him the next time I visit! If I remember correctly, his name was Tristin. Thankfully due to how early we were there that day, the restaurant wasn't super packed, so we had plenty of breathing air for most of our visit. During the last 15 minutes it began filling up! This review is a mess you guys, but it's still an absolute satisfied one!

I say that so people don't get upset when I say, Players Restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere, but it's in a safe nowhere! Pulling up was an exciting moment as my oldest daughter was graduating first in her class, a year early from high school and I hadn't seen her in a year. That said, I walked in about 4pm and almost no one was there. I asked the bartender if I could sit in the main room instead of the bar and she was cool with it. Players looks like a sort of Applebees with "crap" all on the walls but upon closer inspection, the photos are of local people. This tells me it's an authentic experience which I gained a much fuller appreciation. My daughters both said they liked the food there, and I was about to meet "the boyfriend" so I was anticipating the encounter. He walked in and I immediately made fun of him to put him at ease (my daughter warned him that I used to do standup) so the vibe was very nice. Next the waitress came over and was so vibrant and courteous that I was impressed. Now, I really liked a lot of menu items I saw but I wasn't that hungry. Again, I'll bring this back later, but could this "redneck restaurant" really make good Saganaki (Greek cheese) and Calamari? Needless to say, I was extremely skeptical however my sweet tea arrived and was spot on. I even asked for NO lemon and she didn't put it in my glass. Forgive my doubts as I used to be a chef so I can generally spot a disingenuous effort before trying it. First up was the Saganaki which came over a burner. Wow, they got part of it right! As an aside, the cheese can be one of many types with Halloumi or a type of sheeps milk feta that's shallow fried. That said, and I hope they read this to add authentic zest to the experience, it needs to be flambeed and hit with a shot of lemon to offset the richness which very loudly proclaiming OPA! Aside from the theatrics it was extremely good and the warm pita was on the money! Next up I had already determined I was making a mistake ordering the calamari. Well, I was wrong again. The squid were perfectly fried and crispy lacking grease that most restaurants think is ok. Players hit it out of the park with my only addition being I would have liked an aioli with it otherwise the dish surprised me. My kids both got fettuccini alfredo with chicken. I tried two bites and found it was average. The sauce was somewhat bland with slightly overcooked pasta. I think most kids would love it but after people build up a good amount of knowledge with quality dishes, this one fell flat. I'm not saying it's bad, but I wouldn't order it. The pork tenderloin sandwich looked good but I didn't taste it. I was dumbfounded by the huge tenderized pork outsizing the bun 3 to 1 giving it the illusion of getting a lot for the money. My daughters boyfriend assured me it was good and wrapped up half to take home. To summarize my review shows that one should never go in with preconceived notions about a restaurant before trying it. Players proved me wrong more often that I'm willing to admit. The staff are very nice, the restaurant has soul, and the food overachieves. If you're in the area I will highly advise dropping by for what could be the best food in town.

Upstream is set up for the takeaway trade; yeah there's a couple of cocktail tables, but the drink coolers and tiny tables drop a string hint to 'grab & go'. We elected for the fried shrimp/tot platters, one each. After a day hiking along the shores of Lake Ozark we were ravenous! We picked up our platters and a couple of ice cold drinks and headed to a nearby park. After grabbing a park table and sharing our napkins, eating tools, and 'moist towelettes', we surveyed our meals. The shrimp were perfectly deep fried; perfectly seasoned with just a bit of spicy 'kick'. And there were PLENTY of shrimp in each container. The tots were simply perfect. Hot, crispy yet steamy soft inside. The tots seemed to have been dusted with ground Parmesan, garlic, and paprika; lending a entree flavor level to an item that many menus consider a mere side dish. The food prep area at Upstream is dominated by their cooler (pictured). The interior is spotless, the employees are friendly, and there's NO fishy smell!
