Walking around the bookstore while waiting for my order and then after my coffee break was a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Bookworks is a 'must visit' in Pacific Grove if you're in town. And if you live in the area, they have a large self seating area where you can easily stay to read, study or work.

The whole interaction still only had to have taken 2 min with only one person (who had been there for a bit already and seems local/older) behind me. Yet the minute I paid, even though I apologized for the questions and tipped, she loudly and passive aggressively said "sorry for the wait" to the next person right in front of me and they both laughed right in front of my face. I read the other review of the person who said they'd been here a bunch and usually loved it and then had a bad interaction and are also not like the "usual" demo of PG - I am also a person of color who was made to feel the same way. Such a shame what one bad impression can leave. Multiple comments about this has to be more than a coincidence... I would come back only maybe if this person wasn't working but not going to go out of my way anymore

Everyone has off days, and this may have been one of them. Because he proceeded to lie and at random claim that he refuses to service me because I "interrupted his conversation" (actually admitting he was just chatting away) of course I made a call and as I was stepping outside he still had the audacity to follow me outside the store minutes after the door was closed behind he proceed to instigate me while I was on the phone with dispatchers because no I have actually shopped at this store prior no problem. Hence a cashier who proceeds to follow you once you left out the store is clearly a danger in addition to claiming you're the supposed issue clearly is lying and honestly providing the worst customer service. From an individual who has actually dealt with customers being racist and demanding--me asking him to please ring me up should not have been an issue at all. I shouldn't even have to request a cashier do his actually job. Mind he's complaining about being there till midnight? Some of us get up as early as four am grind go to school take care of our families and go to sleep after midnight no complaints. For an older man "cashier" to be upset at his job just tells me he should consider quitting and not projecting his nonsense. This happened at 19:15 hours I really do hope corp fired him because he is not a safe cashier ladies please do not go there!

We came to find some snacks and fruits to munch on before we went "hiking" on nature trails in the Carmel and Point Lobos State Natural Reserve areas. We found lots of goodies, some at regular prices, others on discount or clearance prices due to expiring soon, and all reasonably priced. Overall, this GO isn't too different from others, there's plenty of produce and pantry items, tons of snacks and candies to choose from, and frozen items in the freezer aisles like ice cream and microwave meals aplenty which is what we often look for to enjoy in the evening at our hotel. There are even kitchenware should anyone need to pick some up before a camping trip if they forgot to buy or bring from home. I'm thankful for this GO when we're on the go.
