Delicious pastries! Chocolate croissant and almond croissant are my go to desserts! Can get crowded so be prepared and patient. Great fast service!

    Christmas Jazz band.

We were walking by, across the street from this place, and heard some Christmas jazz going on. So we walked over. They had a wonderful jazz band and singers doing Christmas music. The band was fabulous! Coffee we ordered was wonderful! Staff wasn't very friendly or personable, but we had a good time. And the music was lovely.

I come here every time i visit PG to get their mocha chai lattes. Smells delicious. Tastes so good! Warms the soul. The setting is warm and cozy. Love the couches. The staff is super friendly. They always have a welcoming smile and friendly vibes.

Live music on a Friday night with the reggae band, Dub Souljah + Seansi.

A casual place to meet up with friends, have coffee, beer, wine, smoothies, or soda. They sell pastries, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches too. It reminds me of a cool and quirky place you would find in Berkeley or a similar place to Central Perk from the TV show, Friends. Indoors, you will find tables with chairs, and a few couches. There is outdoor seating too. They even have entertainment! I came here after dinner to listen to some live music and enjoy a mocha. The night I came, the reggae band, Dub Souljah + Seansi, was playing. They were great! If I lived in Pacific Grove, this would be my hangout with my friends...

    New name?

I love this place. Good assortment of baked goods, paninis and coffee and teas. Just found out they are changing their name along with the new owner. So far they are doing great things. Personally not a fan of the name change. But I could get used to it. Service here is always quick and the ambiance is nice with the background music and couches. Wish pg had more places like this.

Amazing local spot that we stumbled into this morning. It is like sitting in someone's living room with the fire going on comfortable couches listening to live music. Local Coffee house/wine bar with small bite menu. Definitely will be back!

Juice and Java is a fun coffee shop. There are tables for working along with comfy sofas. The cappuccinos and sofa gave us a nice break before our next meeting. Several people were working there in the relaxing environment.

Great coffee with a strong, bold taste. The ambiance is nice and the staff is efficient. It can get busy, but the coffee is worth the wait.

The new owner is AMAZING! He is such a gem and the coffee and food are so so good! I love this place and will be back every time. They're in the process of a name change but come get this place while it's hot!

Great ambiance, cozy seating feels like you're in a large living room. Great open mic nights as well as coffee/beer options.

I decided to go the next day, and the line was more manageable and I found street parking nearby. The pastry counter is the first thing you see when you enter. You can also order food and drinks from the counter. There was seating throughout the space which was in a historic building. I got a few goodies to try which included the blue cornmeal cookie, almond financier and an orange blossom tea cake. I also ordered their seasonal coffee which was a honey saffron latte. The cookies, financier and tea cake were all delicious. The latte wasn't overly sweet and was even a bit savory. It grew on me. There were a few sandwiches ordered by other patrons that looked scrumptious. If I hadn't eaten breakfast already, I would've ordered something substantial. Hopefully, I'll return to Monterey again. If so, Alta will be on my list.

My 7- and 9-year-old didn't like the croissant sandwich because it had spicy mustard and sweet pickles. Unfortunately, they had run out of the other sandwiches, so our only other option was the spinach wrap, which I ordered but found bland and lacking flavor. We may have missed their more popular dishes because they stop serving them at 11 a.m. The tables inside also weren't clean. I chose this café because it was highly recommended on TikTok, but I probably wouldn't return. Cappuccino: 9/10 Fancy dessert: 8.5/10

We ordered and iced and hot Mexican mochas and they were delicious! I appreciated them having decaf espresso as an option as well for those of us with caffeine sensitivity. Sometimes they've been lovely and bubbly, but for some reason this one blonde staff member never seems like she actually wants to help. I had some questions on summer specials since "refresher" doesn't tell me much and she kept telling me about other drinks instead and being super short. The whole interaction still only had to have taken 2 min with only one person (who had been there for a bit already and seems local/older) behind me. Yet the minute I paid, even though I apologized for the questions and tipped, she loudly and passive aggressively said "sorry for the wait" to the next person right in front of me and they both laughed right in front of my face. I read the other review of the person who said they'd been here a bunch and usually loved it and then had a bad interaction and are also not like the "usual" demo of PG - I am also a person of color who was made to feel the same way. Such a shame what one bad impression can leave. Multiple comments about this has to be more than a coincidence... I would come back only maybe if this person wasn't working but not going to go out of my way anymore

Lots of different merch to look at while waiting for order- coffee beans, olive oil, delicious looking bagged cookie, biscotti, hot dog buns and kitschy toys. Pros- service was friendly , helpful and patient! Pastries were top notch. We've been hitting bakeries all over Carmel and Monterey and liked these the best. The cream bun and earl grey bun were our favorites with the cardamom bun and chocolate croissant a close second and third. The dough on all these had great layers which has been missing in a lot of the pastries we've had while bakery hopping. The sun-dried tomato and cheese scone was the best savory scone I've ever had. Coffee- I got a latte with half serving of the miso caramel bc I was worried it would be too sweet (I'm a flat white gal). It tasted perfect and went well with the sweet pastries. My family got iced lattes with the miso caramel and the tonka vanilla. They liked them but thought they were light on flavor. If fancy lad coffee is your priority then probably not the place for you lol. Cons- parking is of course challenging but same for every business around there. Seating is very limited so prob have to plan on to-go if there's a crowd. Nice that they have a few outdoor tables. We couldn't find seating for three so we dipped and crashed at a table outside a restaurant that wasn't open.
