I try to avoid gas station bathrooms, unless it is a Buccees, but when your kid has to go, he has to go. I feel like you can judge a gas station based on the restroom, and this location didn't disappoint. A biking group was posted up outside, students were inside working on homework, even though most colleges have not started yet, and plenty of other patrons were taking their Sunday mornings easy. Despite having at least 10 to 15 people in front of us, the line moved pretty quickly. My friend who was more of a regular at the shop knew a lot of the staff and had convos with them. It feels like a little community! I ordered the Maple Sausage Croissant sourced from Sugar Loaf Bakery along with a hot Purple Haze latte made with lavender and vanilla syrup. My drink came out fairly quickly, and I thought it was great. It was well balanced and not overly sweet. As for the Maple Sausage Croissant, it was exactly what it sounded like, a maple sausage tucked into a croissant. I initially expected the croissant itself to be maple flavored, similar to a McGriddle, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. The baristas told me that their chai leans toward the sweeter side versus the spicier side, so I opted for an iced sugar-free vanilla latte, which was not overly sweet. I also tried the beez neez (latte with honey and cinammon) another time and enjoyed it! They offer 2% milk, which I don't always find at coffee shops. Since it's in downtown Plano, there's street parking, which wasn't difficult for me since I came at 8 AM. I believe there are parking garages located nearby. Overall, I've greatly enjoyed 1418 Coffee and will most definitely be visiting more throughout this month while I'm working in the area!
