This food is always tasty! We ordered the fajitas, charro beans, tacos, beef burrito, enchiladas and tamales! They give you a lot of food! My fajitas came out piping and sizzling! Why 2 stars? Because there are just too many decent alternatives to come here. --- --- --- After 3+ years of living in Montgomery, we finally decided to try 7 Leguas. And I really do hate to write negative reviews, but there's just no way around this one. Every time I review a Tex Mex restaurant, I have to mention that the economics never cease to blow my mind. There are approximately 4 billion restaurants like this in the Greater Houston area. They all have the same menu and they are all of similar quality. Except, unfortunately, I just learned that 7 Leguas was not of similar quality with the rest. My go-to order is steak fajitas and that's what I went with here. Technically they were called ribeye fajitas on this particular menu. There was plenty of fat in these fajitas, so I do believe that they were indeed from a ribeye. The issue is that the meat was completely flavorless. It literally tasted like chewy water. It's not crazy to assume that they did not place one speck of salt on this meat before cooking it. The meat also just wasn't visually appealing at all and didn't come out smoking like fajitas usually do. Also, our server would disappear for 10+ minutes at a time, which was really frustrating. At one point, my in-laws ordered sopapillas, but then *poof* our server was gone. At one point, I had to go grab another server and just request the bill. They insisted that the sopapillas were about to come out, and then shortly after, our server re-appeared with them. Like everything else, they were a massive disappointment and tasted like they had been obviously reheated. I feel a little bad crushing the server because my wife thinks she heard him telling another table that he was brand new. So I do take that part of the experience with a grain of salt, but I will also say that even if you've never been a server a day in your life, you should know to not go into the back so long that your tables are asking if maybe you got fired or quit. Given the competition here with Tex-Mex restaurants, it's just impossible to justify coming to a place again that misses the mark so badly. The restaurant has a nice exterior, and we chose it for a relaxed afternoon meal. The service was good and the food was decent. Unfortunately, after we paid and left, a waitress came outside to question us about a missing receipt. We were asked to return inside to re-sign it, even though the waiter had already been at the table clearing it. It was embarrassing and unnecessary. We had been enjoying ourselves, but that interaction completely changed the tone of our visit. It's disappointing that what started as a pleasant experience ended on such a negative note. Was so very many Mexican food restaurants to choose from one reason to definitely put this restaurant at the top of your list Is there Sunday buffet. I have everything from a crepe station to a chocolate fountain. They will make you an omelet to order, or you can have menudo. The staff are extremely professional and you never catch anybody just sitting around on their personal phone!! We have been going here for years and I can say that the food quality is better than it has been and the pricing has still remained very reasonable. Highly recommend! read more

Great service, we got plenty of beverage and chips/salsa refills. The food came out quick and was piping hot. The portions are large but the prices are small. I got the chicken enchiladas with Mexican rice and beans and I cleaned my plate. We also got some of their queso to go (the queso is amazing). I was given two tortillas. waiter never returned to the table so I made do. Needed drink refills and more napkins but no waiter. Food was moderate at best. not freshly made. So disappointing. Chips and salsa needs improvement but The food was delicious! Stuffed full of chicken in every bite, seasoned to perfection! I wanted to try a margarita but since the Arnold Palmer was subpar (I sent it back) I decided not to chance it. The service was awesome! We were seated and order was taken really fast. The food came out within minutes. The dining area is decorated with umbrellas on the ceiling and they have several tv's. The patio looked really nice but I think it was closed. The food was fresh and there were many options. The star of the show was the MENUDO!! You are able to add hominy corn, onion, cilantro, and jalapeño. The street tacos were also a fave. I washed down my food with a mango margarita They also had American fare as well. If this place were in Houston, I would go back often. The staff was kind and brought items out quickly when asked. We ate here for the first time and had a delicious meal. There is a happy hour until 6pm. We took advantage of that and enjoyed affordable margaritas. Red sauce comes out, but they also have green if requested. Luis was our waiter. He was in a good mood and joked with us. He was so good, I complemented his service to the manager on our way out. The atmosphere is cool looking, nicely decorated inside, the patio is ample and has lake views. Also, dogs are allowed! A big plus with us. Since moving to the area in August, I've eaten in a few times and ordered delivery through DoorDash a couple times also. They're always busy, but the waitstaff seems to accommodate this with ease. It helps that there's like a small team of other folks running around quietly doing refills of drinks and chips, salsa etc. This is not a complaint at all as I rarely appreciate a hovering waiter or waitress (sometimes if they are hilarious, this is acceptable IMO ), but during the bulk of the meal the waiter was at the POS putting orders in, at other tables or otherwise occupied. Somebody else brought the food out, but as if on queue the waiter was table-side simultaneously as the tray was placed to see if we needed anything and to distribute the plates. Now, if the waiter was in the dining room, on any of my previous visits, like in an auction, the slightest nearly imperceptible movement on my part or making eye contact and he was there immediately. If you are given the option, I strongly suggest you avoid paying your check at the front register. I often pay with my phone at restaurants. This is one of those situations where the waiter would need to walk my phone over to his POS And I would have to go too, because the payment app uses face recognition to unlock. I took one look where he was pointing for us to go, looked back at my five-year-old, and I saw the wild look in her eyes. Parents, you know the one... I couldn't risk her running into bustling waiters or asking some poor fellow at the table next to the POS why he has a cane or a face mole or why his hair is blue, etc. So I volunteered to pay at the front on the way out so the waiter could flip his table and because I honestly thought it would be super quick. I was barely acknowledged at the front and spent the next 20 minutes alternating between trying to get someone's attention waiting for her to get off a phone call, coralling a kid , been bop by people walking by The cashier kept taking phone orders, and maybe there was a shift change, but there were no fewer than five waiters up there huddled next to the cashier, settling up for the day and trying to get big bills to take in exchange for their small ones and doing the tip out etc. While they did this they talked about how much money they made or didn't make or who did better or why they did better or how many tables they had whatever. This was exhausting and frustrating. I always get the fajitas but I've tried a few different things. Everything is pretty good! I feel like they should give more tortillas with the fajitas from the start. I really dislike asking for more and waiting while the meat goes cold. But hey, I guess if I could remember next time, I'll ask for more from the jump when dining in. I ordered delivery through DoorDash a couple of days ago -of course it was delicious -but three paltry tortillas arrived to accompany a bounty of meat and fixings. Yes you can add more for added price. I'm just struggling with this because I wouldn't get charged if I were eating in. And...for some reason you can't order kids meals from here through DoorDash. An adult meal is just too much food and expense for my five-year-old. I hope if they read this, they will consider adding that to the available delivery menu, because if they did, I would order delivery WAY more often when I'm craving Mexican food but don't have time to eat in or just don't feel like chasing my daughter around the house for 10 minutes trying to get her shoes on her feet. read more

This place was recommended for their cocktail specials. We did have a really good margarita, but... they put American cheese on their Mexican plates. Somebody please explain this? its not like they were out of the normal cheese used at every other mexican restaurant, not due to covid, nothing other than their own personal choice. And yes, it does change the way the food tastes, and I didn't like the meals with the American cheese. They do have other things which are good, but when you want a good enchilada, and you see its topped with American cheese, you can't help but be disappointed. I will say though, they do have a Sunday brunch buffet that we do like, its abit too expensive for what it is, but its a nice treat that everyone in this area seems to agree on. The brunch buffet is always busy, and has several options that we enjoy, including omelets and crepes. Sweet crepes, not savory, which is a shame, because I would love a nice savory crepe. We always enjoy 7 Leguas, especially sitting outside where there is usually a nice breeze. Salsa is warm and tasty. The salsa verde has a nice spice and chips are good. We've shared the appetizers as a meal, had fajitas and combination plates. All tasty and enough fajitas to take home. The staff is always friendly and available. One of the managers frequently stops by our table to chat and check on us. There are plenty of regulars there when we go, so maybe you would call us regulars too. Absolutely Horrific service! To start off with, there were about 7 waiters/waitresses gathered at the bar standing around talking. They looked at us as we walked in and nobody greeting us or budged from their position/conversation. I knew at this point it was going to be BAD.....oh and it was! Service was the absolute PITTS!!!! Food cold, chips thick and hard, rice/charro beans no flavor. Bad, bad, bad! The only thing I have heard this place has going for it, is their margaritas. They are suppose to be tasty and cheap. We had our sons' rehearsal dinner at 7 Leguas. Nancy assisted us in the coordinating of the event and she did a wonderful job. We had close to 100 people on the back deck. My family got there early to decorate and they already had the tables set up, wiped down and covered with the table coverings.
