I got a gel manicure and my nails lasted for 3 weeks before they started chipping or peeling. I love that they use vegan nail polish and skin care products and are so gentle! Normally other salons I have been to rip my cuticles up and make them bleed, but not here! Jessica the owner is super nice and always does an amazing job on my nails. They have helped customize the color for me each time and I've been so pleased with how it turned out. For Christmas, I wanted to do gray with sparkles so we found a light purplish gray to go under clear sparkles to match my plum-colored sweater and I couldn't be happier!

After getting a sub-par manicure from a different business, I was desperate to get my manicure…read morefixed ASAP. The business that gave me the initial manicure was closed. I was able to schedule an appointment at New York Nails for the next day--and while I was nervous about going somewhere new, I was grateful they fit me into their schedule. When I got to my appointment, the tech (who might also be the owner?) was working patiently with three older women. I was really touched by how gentle and kind she was with them. She multi-tasked between those clients and myself with surprising ease. I wasn't sure how good she was at detailed nail art, so I showed her two pictures of options I was considering (so she could choose the one that she thought she could execute best). She said she could do either, but we ended up deciding on the ombre design together. She completed the job beautifully. She painted on the dip material, which I wasn't used to, but it resulted in a really smooth ombre that was lovely. The tip of one of my nails broke within 48 hours. I don't blame this on her work; I was at a horse barn doing some serious barn chores. (98% of most manicures can't survive that. LOL) I called to schedule an appointment to have it fixed and she said I could come the next day. Again, she effectively multi-tasked during my repair appointment and didn't charge me for the repair. I had no issues with the manicure after that repair (even in spite of going back to the barn multiple times). I did notice, both time I was there, that she seemed to have some difficulty with creating symmetrical designs. It was not for a lack of trying or effort on her part; I think it just happens. During my first appointment she made a joke to the woman she was working on that now the woman had two different "pictures" to look at, between her different nails. During my repair appointment, someone called to complain about a lack of symmetry, and she told the woman on the phone the same thing about "different pictures" but that they could come back in and she'd try to fix it. So I don't think this is probably the best place to go if you want really tricky and precise work done on your nails, but if you want a solid manicure with more standard nail art, I think this place is a great choice. I would definitely go back.

Last time I went, my friend got a mani pedi and decided to remove the polish on her fingers and toes the next day because it was so sloppy. They often do fewer coats than necessary and don't bring the polish all the way to the end of the nail. Sometimes there's problems with leaving polish or even acrylic on the surrounding skin. This last time lots of what looked like specks of dirt appeared on top of my acrylic nails in the hours after my appointment which I'm told is a result of inadequate drying between coats of gel polish. I stopped back in to the shop to show the woman who did my nails what happened to be helpful - not asking for a free polish change or anything - and her response disappointed me. She said that must be from the hair dye I use or touching ink on paper. I've never dyed my hair and handle almost no physical paper, not that either of those things would create the speckled effect I was left with on my nails. On top of that, the prices have never aligned with the price menu posted in the shop. I'm really unclear what my acrylic nails that look permanently dirty cost me (because it was combined with a regular manicure and 2 pedicures) but they weren't cheap, so if you're choosing this place for price reasons you may want to keep looking.
