This place is really beyond terrible. I wish I could give it zero stars. Sure, the view is nice, but the food is awful. The lobster rolls taste frozen and are over priced. The steamers are beyond sandy and just don't taste good. Besides the food being bad, paying top dollar to watch the owner(?) manager(?) talk down to and scold her employees for every customer to see is not why I go out to eat. We're frequently in town, but usually loyal to the Fish Shack when it comes to dinner time. Today, though, we decided to give 7th Wave a try. Admittedly, neither of us had high expectations... we figured it was overpriced & probably very "touristy." Not true! Prices were in line, the menu offered a good assortment, and the view from the top deck is hard to beat. I had the special... grilled mahi mahi with coconut rice & mango salsa. It was excellent! The salsa had a nice bite to it, the rice tasted ever so subtly of coconut, and the fish was grilled to perfection. My companion had the grilled salmon with asparagus. She commented how well everything was prepared, too. The only "wish list" I have is that the servings were a little more substantial, or maybe offer up rolls or a salad with dinner entrees. My special was sufficient, but the salmon/asparagus dish would have left me wanting "a little more." read more

The food sucked the steak was small in portion and tough. Ran out of potatoes on a Sunday really??? Minimal menu not much to pick from. Food was luke warm at best. Looks more like people cashing in on a location to draw people in. Spending 4 star prices for subpar food. Do yourself a favor eat at Roy Moores Fish Shack at 21 dock square. Way better food at excellent prices. We used to go to The 7th Wave all the time but it must have changed hands and the new owners seeming don't care about food quality. read more

I am shocked to see so many bad reviews. i went to 7th Wave today for lunch and was greeted by the young beautiful manager. She was very friendly and professional and seated us up on the upper deck. It was a bit windy but the veiw is amazing. I am local so I am very familiar with the local restaurants and the level of service at all of them. The service was fast and friendly, we ordered lobster rolls that were amoung the best I have had. Three weeks prior to this my wife and I ate at My Place By the Sea, the waitstaff there could take some lessons from the staff at 7th Wave. I hope people will at least give 7th wave a try, they are new and working out the bugs but my lunch experiance was great and I will go back. read more

Went to the 7th wave for the first time couple weeks ago and it was awful! Has nice outdoor seating on top of the building but has a roof over it so even on this nice day it was freezing being under the shade of the roof. We got calamari for an appitizer which didnt take long to come out but had absolutely no seasoning. Our meals took forever to come out and our waitress was never around, we had to get the attention of other waitresses to get drink refills. When our meals finally did come out the bread on my blt was hard as a rock. All in all not the best experience read more

Keep on walking...I went here yesterday with my family for lunch, after walking around town and enjoying the sights and shops. We were all getting hungry, and decided that this would be a good place to eat. Boy were we wrong! Waitress was nice, but overall service could be better. We all ordered our lunches and patiently waited, and waited and waited. We were served our meals, AFTER, 3 tables that were seated way after us were served their meals. So, we waited for: lobster sandwich, steak salad, kids chicken tender & kids mac and cheese. Really, not sure what took so long, after the people that were served before us all had fried dinners. Didn't realize that a steak salad, ordered medium well, took longer then a fried dinner?1? After the wait, we thought that it would have been worth it, but yet again, we were wrong! Went to 7th Wave recently, it was an enjoyable time. All we did was order some drinks and fried clams. Now, I fully understand why some people would rate this place a little lower...service was a little slow, even though there were few diners at the time. However, assuming you go before there is a large rush, you shouldn't be completely ignored. The drinks were good and priced decently for a restaurant with a view. The clams were better prepared than some places (not overcooked, and not heavy breaded), but portions were small, as were the clams. However, if it is a nice weather day and you get seating on the roof with a view and a cool breeze, you will enjoy the food and the drinks and view. read more

I had dinner here last weekend. It was fresh and delicious. There service was excellent and the views of the harbor unbeatable.

Our family with two young boys and a baby Met some friends here today for dinner. I always wanted to try this place and it was far better than I had imagined. Of course the view from the deck is one of the best if not THE best in New England. The food was excellent. My son had the haddock sandwich that came with two large pieces of fish. I had the steak Gorgonzola salad which was absolutely delectable. My friend had a giant margarita. Absolutely stellar experience. I wish I had tried it sooner. Staff was excellent also. read more

Attentive service, gorgeous view, unique drinks, fresh and delicious food! This is a true casual dining experience. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the light refreshing menu. The appetizer we chose was delicious! Who knew we have black seabass being locally caught? The Tuna steak melted in my mouth and was served with delicious vegetables in a lobster sauce. Sadly, it has gone downhill since new management. Incredibly overpriced food. The food is bland, boring and - no tarter sauce or lemon served with fish. The most tasteless fish and chips I've ever eaten- the chips were cold and over-cooked. Total lack of customer service. Not surprised the restaurant was dead. I did not like this restaurant. The entrees came with nothing. Such as...my husband got a lobster with no potatoes or vegetables. My son got Mussels with nothing.. I had to get a lobster roll....at least mine had a salad. These were all entrees. No fried fish or clams. When I spend a lot of money. I expect more food. The waitress was very sweet!!! read more

I have not heard of anyone having a very enjoyable meal here yet - lobster rolls that cannot /should not be consumed ,disgusting chowder and bad overall service. I then had some friends that ordered a lot of food to takeout- and shortly after eating they were very sick. Well...we have eaten all over the world...the 7th Wave is not a White Barn Inn and it doesn't pretend to be. It is solid, predictable and even fun. We have been there twice and left quite pleased both times. Wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive, food was great, wine was inexpensive yet also quite good in fact, the whole meal (including the Lobster) was excellent as well as affordably priced...and the view from the top deck was unbelievable. read more

Our lunch was miserable! I ordered the buffalo salad for $12.99 and the lettuce was rotten through out. Waitress was nice and horrified and brought me another and the same thing! The chicken was boiled and tossed with butter and some hot sause...... Gross! Our bill came and we were charged full price and no manager was there to speak with. We went to the 7th Wave today because we had a dine.restaurant certificate. I knew that they were open thru Columbus Day. We arrived about 3:00pm, they open at 11:30am so we figured they would not be close to closing. We entered the reception area and saw a crowd of about 10 people waiting. There was no host, I looked into dining room and saw an almost empty restaurant. Two waitress walked by carrying dirty dishes did not acknowledge customers waiting. A third waitress walked by and barked at a customer that peeked in to see what was going on "Wait outside". After waiting over 10 minutes, seeing an empty dining area and staff looking ready to go home we left. We could go back in next summer but from this experience and the reviews we don't think we will. read more

Can't understand how this place stays in business. The food is very low quality, overpriced, and the service is slow and inattentive. Our party's scallops were underdone, the cauliflower puree was stone cold, and the hanger steak was tough and bad-tasting. Avoid if you want an edible meal. read more

My husband and I visited Rockport last weekend and wanted to eat at 7th Wave as it was within walking distance of our hotel and it was recommended to us. We attempted to eat there several nights but the restaurant was either closed that day (during the week) or had closed early due to the rainy, cold weather and therefore, lack of clients. While this is understandable, we were greatly disappointed when we tried a third time (and our last night). Talia, the owner, was there and she asked us to come by for lunch the next day, before we left and she would make it right. We are so glad we did. Talia and our waiter, Patrick, went above and beyond to make our lunch amazing. We got the best seat in the house (the furthest table on the upper deck with a stunning view of the harbor). The Tuna Poke was simply delicious and the mussels were in one of the best sauces we had every tasted. The rest of our food was great as well. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We were looking for a nice sit down restaurant and this place has a spectacular view. While waiting for a table, we ordered a round of drinks from the bartender and she was excellent. It quickly went downhill from there. Our waitress was perhaps one of the worst I have encountered. We asked about the catch of the day and she seemed put out to find out how it was prepared. They have a limited menu with a few various sides like smashed potatoes and vegetables. When asked if we could substitute the fries only beets and greens were given as alternatives, once again seeming annoyed. The food was mediocre and my kids got steak which was charred and they could not eat it. When the food was brought out we had no proper utensils. The waitress never came to ask if we needed anything. We had to track down a different waitress and ask about sauce for the steak and the staff was stupefied. Once again, after another extended wait, a third waitress finally brought us Worcestershire. It took another long wait to get our check and by the time we left the whole town was shut down. This place has a great view, but I would stick to drinks in the bar, she was the ONLY person that seemed to know what was going on. read more

Horrendous service. We asked for salt and pepper two or three times, asked for a glass to put a bottle of beer in also two or three times. And we had to flag down the waiter to ask for these things because she wasn't coming back to our table. Yes it was busy, but if you say you're going to bring something as simple and common as salt and pepper for the table, you shouldn't have to be asked multiple times. They served our side dishes 10-15 minutes before bringing out the entrees. They brought out the entrees separately, so none of us got to eat at the same time. The steaks were overcooked. The "Garlic/Parmesan" fries, which cost $1 more than regular fries, tasted exactly like regular fries. It looked like they had shredded a teaspoon of parmesan on top of a bowl of fries, and the fries weren't hot enough for the cheese to melt, so then what little cheese there was didn't stick to the fries. The food was only mediocre in taste and flavor. And when we spoke to the manager, while she was apologetic about our terrible service, the only thing she offered to do was buy us another round of drinks. At that point we just wanted to leave, so that last thing we wanted us another round. Also, they apparently only had one single-stall unisex bathroom, which is a bit strange for a restaurant of this size, and it meant that there was a 20ish minute wait to use it. So, yeah, don't bother going here. Unless you just want to have drinks and you don't mind terrible wait service, because at least their cocktails were very tasty, and the view is very nice. read more

I recently ate at the 7th wave this past weekend and was quite impressed. I am from rockport maine and was quite excited to visit another town so named. Before going I searched for nice restaurants to go to and found the 7th wave. However upon reading the other reviews I was almost scared off! Stories of poor service and unprofessional staff frequented the reviews of unhappy patrons. My wife and I decided to take the chance and dine out on the deck. Everything was great!!! I don't know if all the people who wrote reviews attended the restaurant when they first opened and thats why there were so many problems, but there was nothing amiss with either the service or the food. Our waiter was a charming young man who was quite professional, and the hostess was also exceptionally pleasant. As for the prices, people have to understand that that is simply the price of food these days, especially in a tourist town such as Rockport, where the money making season is so damn short. People need to stop being such cheap pricks and realize they may need to pay a little bit of money for their food. I don't know for sure, but their prices are nowhere near as high as other establishments in the area. You can always tell how well a restaurant is run by the simplest things, like trying to figure out if they are open or closed, or if they even answer their phone. I work at a local inn and attempted numerous times last year to contact this place. The web site hours and voice mail message conflicted, and the businesses around the restaurant weren't sure what the story was. Mind you this is in the beginning of September, not December. I've also had several interactions with people who have commented on this restaurant and I've not received one positive report about it. This is a tourist trap, with obvious issues as stated by other reviewers. I can only hope management reads these reviews and has an "a-ha" moment to realize that "Houston, we have a problem".. I have not and will not refer anyone to this place unless the service and food improve and when they can clearly communicate when they are open and when they answer their phone! read more
