Great view and location however the food and value are seriously lacking. I got the fried scallops and they came out cut up in order to look like more and way over fried. It was really sad so I sent them back and got a lobster roll instead. The lobster roll was was alright but it tasted like garlic powder so if you don't like garlic I wouldn't recommend it. We were told the clam app at $18 and the platter at $26 had the same amount of clams but one has fries and coleslaw. We decided on the app but again for the price for the amount of clams was extremely disappointing. They said they weigh them which is unfortunate because they were good but sadly not worth the money. I went here last Sunday on my first visit to Rockport. We just asked around what's a good place for lobster. I was ok with prices that would be somewhat steep, assuming that the quality would match, but this was not the case at all for the 7th Wave. Granted, we just ordered the mussels and the raw bar, both of which do not require a sophisticated culinary execution. The mussels came in a bland sauce with two laughable pieces of bread (I mean, why would you just bring two pieces of bread for so much sarcastically delicious sauce?). And then, the raw bar was too expensive for the few things that were brought. I guess you pay for the nice view at this place, because its interior left much to desire. Not coming back! read more

We arrived in a Sunday, fairly late (730 pm). We soon found out that the restaurants close at 8!!! We hurried down to a waterfront restaurant and this place was nice. Apparently rockport doesn't have any bars, so you can get a table and then a drink... But no partying at the bar! Lol. My hubby and I are on our anniversary trip and had planned to stay out and have a few drinks. The girl here told us we would have to go to Gloucester bc Rockport doesn't have any bars. It is a nice place, very friendly service, gorgeous view, fair priced menu, food is okay... 3 out of 5 stars :). I would come again. Oh, and all the little stores are open late... I went back this summer because a friend from out of town wanted to go there. They have definitely improved their service and the food was better. The wait was brief, the service was quick, but not rushed. Still over priced for what you get, the waitstaff is all teenagers but I would not discourage anyone from going there anymore. Loved this place. Walking down the street and looking for some sort of outdoor dining/bar and we struck gold with this place. Great atmosphere and awesome bartender. He was super attentive and service was great. Also got the shrimp cocktail, also great. Not a huge draft beer selection but they make up for it when the other alcoholic selection in the menu. A nice view too of the ocean. This was a great place and we stayed here for about 2 hours, wish we could've stayed longer! read more

This is one of the better spots in Rockport, the view is fantastic from the upstairs deck and the food, although nothing fancy is solid and fairly reasonably priced. We had the Tuna Poke and it was very good, just ask for more wontons. The steak salad was fresh and the fish and chips very satisfying. This place used to be the Portside Chowder House, which was a good place to grab lunch during our annual visit to Rockport. Sadly, they're gone, and 7th Wave is not an improvement. The service was SLOW. The table next to us had obviously been waiting a long while when we first got seated, and their irritation was clearly apparent. We ended up sharing their irritation, as we waited at least 10-15 minutes before our orders were even taken. Our wait for our food was easily 30 minutes, not cool when you have little ones who are bored and hungry. I'd have understood if they were busy at the time, but they were not. The food was decent, but very expensive. Overall, we were unimpressed with our dining experience. Next year we'll be looking to eat somewhere else while visiting Rockport. read more

While some might complain about the lack of parking - it is on the end of a street loaded with shops and well worth the short walk. We went with a family member in a wheelchair and were pleasantly surprised when 3 staff members jumped to open the gate and handy cap accessible ramp to the patio! And the excellent service didn't end there. Everyone was cheerful and exceptionally attentive and helpful in every way. This was a constant thruout our stay. Now, to the food. First, everything was served equally fresh at the same time for all four of us and we ordered all different things from the menu from shrimp to lobster to fish of the day. The shrimp came in the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. It was a jumbo shrimp, which was seasoned and pan seared before being skewered and added to the drink. I had the Chef's special of 3 baguettes with three different toppings (lobster salad, tuna salad, and crab cakes) seasoned to perfection and served over a huge salad with wine vinegar dressing. The term "Fish-of-the-Day" was never so accurate as the salmon over prima-verde pasta was superb! And the fish sandwich was equally great. Great food, great service, great view of the ocean! What more can you ask? Pricing you say? While you may expect them to be high for such good fare- not at all. Very favorable and comparable at an average of $20 PP. Great atmosphere came free! Drove almost 200miles to visit Rockport and specifically have lunch at 7th Wave Restaurant. Already planning another trip there...maybe dinner this time. read more

View is amazing. That's the only nice thing we can say about our experience. Unfortunately the service was bad and the food was worse. Note to the waitstaff: if you're summering at the shore and waiting tables to make some coin to pay for books for next semester, here is a tip that's probably better than the one we left you - things like providing utensils and water in a timely fashion, small plates for all when sharing appetizers...just the basics that get noticed when you have to ask for everything. Now about the food: mediocre at best. The clam chowder was nice and hot and thick but not even as good as a can of Snow's. The seared tuna was tasteless and doubtful that it was ahi.Our advice is have a cocktail and enjoy the view but go to Lattitude 43 in Gloucester for amazing food and service. read more

I went here with my family of 5 on a beautiful summer day. We sat downstairs, which has a water view, because it was a bit chilly for the upstairs open air seating. The waitress was attentive and the food was good, including fish and chips and Caesar salad. The only negative was the $120 bill even though one meal was a Kid's meal. This place is usually a staple for us when we are in town and have a beach day in Gloucester. This however, will be our last time. We arrived around 7:15pm for dinner on a holiday week and were seated promptly with no wait. (That should've been our first hint that this place had lost its luster). We sat on the outside patio and ordered a couple of beers and a some drinks for the kids. Drinks took a long time to get to us. When it was time to order we were told that there was some flooding somewhere which led to them not having any fried clams. Total bummer, but understandable. They have in the menu a fisherman's platter for $66 (no, that's not a typo, it's really $66!) The server told us that they just double up on everything else since there were no clams. I asked if they could just take of the price of the clams and still get the normal platter. She said they can do that, and they'd take off $15. Now mind you, clams are the most expensive part!! But, whatever...I was excited for some good seafood (we moved to Raleigh 5 years ago, and it's just not the same). My youngest daughters food (kraft Mac and cheese) came out first and no one else got their food for well over 10 minutes after. We had to send the Mac and cheese back because it was cold while waiting for everyone else's food. My platter came, and was one of the most disappointing moments of my life. It was 90% French fries and the same size piece of fish that comes with the $19 fish and chips. There were also 5 pieces of medium shrimp and a few scallops. I told the waitress that I felt like I just bought a $51 order of fries. She said that she would note my comments. I asked her to speak to her manager and the manager took off another $3. For the 5 of us, the bill was $141! The food was ok, not great, the service was awful, and the management didn't care. Again, a place that was once a "must go" is now a "must avoid"!!! read more

Was in Rockport and decided to have dinner here. The view is GREAT but the food was average at best and the prices are quite high. But what can you expect when you are in a tourist area. Had the raw seafood tower which was average and steamers. This place really looks inviting, the dining room setup is very nice with a good view of the harbor. The food on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. I went in really excited, we had a large party of people so we were able to sample many things on the menu. The calamari was okay. I didnt like the tomato sauce they served it with.. it seemed kind of lazy, like someone just cracked open a jar of pasta sauce. The curry shrimp.. yuck!. The shrimp was alright, the rice and sauce they served it with was too salty. The fish and chips was not that great. I've definitely had better. I could only take one bite out of the lobster roll, that's how bad it was. The chicken panini was okay. This restaurant seems to do really well with chicken, the chicken tenders on the kids menu was hands down the best dish, as sad as that sounds. They really missed the mark on the other dishes. It felt like they were trying to hard to cover too much. I really think they should stick with and perfect the basics and they will do much better. The food was definitely mediocre when compared with the prices, it is definitely very overpriced. The only comfort is that its a new restaurant, and they are probably still figuring things out. Hi we went there I had a Groupon, it was just ok. Tourists love it, it is a beautiful setting. Order a hot and dirty martini but they didn't have the hot, but did try to make up for it. We ordered the lobster claw app it was over cooked. The steamers were good, cooked well and hot but it is cool on the deck even on a hot night so the food get's kinda cold first or you feel in a rush to eat. My friend got the blueberry lemonade, not much liquor. So I guess I go for drinks on a hot night and an appetizer but it doesn't have a bar and Rockport closes at 9:00 P.M. so I guess it's a no unless you want a view and it's totally hot and 4:00 P.M. read more

Hostess was excellent. We had the 3 kids with us. Although busy, she had a table for 5 ready, quickly. Then the millennial with the pony tail (not judging) finally came over after 20 minutes. He took our order, making sure to write every spoken word down, slowly. After ordering, the table behind us, same waiter and sat after we ordered, already had food coming out, while we waited. When our food arrived, my middle son didn't get his food, and he didn't recall us ordering a hot dog, which isn't on the menu and we had to ask for it, and was what he was writing down, slowly. After we finished our meal, my son's food arrived. 20 minutes after he was finished, I finally pleaded with the guy for our check. He brought it over, and just dropped it on the table. At this point my family had already left the place to go walk around. I typically tip 25%, even if the service was just OK. I was seriously prepared to leave $1.00 and a noet about working for a living. However, he auto billed the 20% tip into the receipt, and I was stuck with letting this dude with a man-bun earn a decent wage, while not understanding the economic consequence of poor work habits. My wife and I have been long time fans of the 7th. Wave ... until today. We typically make several trips to Rockport during the summer to enjoy some shopping and some time near the ocean. We always go the 7th Wave for the great view and the fresh fish and chips. After waiting 40 minutes for a table we were seated and handed out menus. No fish and chips, not much of anything that we though was appealing. We asked the waiter if the menu had been changed. He said new owners, new menu. We settled on hanger steak for our meal. We both asked for medium rare. Neither meal was even close. The inside was red and cool and tasteless and the fries were cold. My wife ordered a beer and decided on a second one of something different. She got the wrong beer. I tried one cocktail and decided on a different one for my second. I got the same thing again. One other couple who also questioned the menu change decided to leave while we were there and another couple next to us just got drinks and commented to us the same disappointment with the menu change. For the new owners. If this is working for you and your making money, I guess I can only say, stay with it. As for us, we won't be back. read more

This is probably the worst place I've ever been too. If I could take off stars I would. Besides slow service and not so pleasant hostess, the food was inedible. The salmon was burned to the point It was charred from outside. However it was raw on the inside and probably unsafe to consume. Veggies and salads were tasteless. How difficult is to add a pinch of salt? After mentioning this to our waiter we got an apology but that's it. So we left our food practically untouched, paid close to 200$ for 4 over cooked meals and left. The steamers are beyond sandy and just don't taste good.
