Tried Bella's for the first time and we were definitely underwhelmed by the margarita pizza despite reading good reviews. I come here every time I am back home. The pizza is the most perfect thin crust pizza it doesn't make you feel too stuffed either. I also got the antipasta salad and that right there is exactly what I mean when I say I want an antipasta salad. Dear Owner Please try to make eating here a nice experience rather than a haphazard dining experience. We have eaten here for many years with the prior owner and have been eating here since the ownership changed. However, our last experience was unacceptable. 1. The chef should have bread ready when customers arrive. 2. Customers should be able to enjoy their drink and or appetizer without having their meal come immediately after. 3. Salads should be fresh and crisp and cool versus warm and wilted. 4. We had our drink and the wilted salad arrived, and we requested bread, after having several bites of our salad, our entrée came. Under new ownership, Bella's Great Road Italian Restaurant opened recently, formerly Filho's Great Road and Bella Famiglia (different owner) several years before. Their official grand opening is at the end of February. This Italian restaurant and bar is fairly casual with a bar area with seating at the bar and high tops and dining room with table seating. The menu offerings include a variety of Italian dishes, pasta dishes, pizzas, salads, soups, garlic bread, appetizers, paninis, sandwiches, burgers, and desserts (cannoli, tiramisu, cakes, creme brulee, ice cream). The bar offers draft beer, beer bottles & cans, wine, cocktails martinis, and dessert drinks. The prices here are moderate. I stopped by Bella's Great Road for dinner recently since I haven't dined in this building since it was Bella Famiglia, different ownership. The place was steady busy around 7 pm on a Wednesday night. I was promptly seated in the dining room and they seated me at a small table, tucked away from most of the noise. I looked over the menu and made my decision quickly. For a starter, the Antipasti ($16 plus tax) was a good sized salad with a mix of Italian cold cuts/meats, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, mixed bean salad, marinated tuna salad, smoked mozzarella, chicken, mixed greens, balsamic vinaigrette and crisp pieces of focaccia bread. This antipasti itself would've been enough food for dinner. For an entree, the Linguine Misto ($21 plus tax) was a good sized portion with soft linguine topped with a mix of a thick marinara sauce, grilled chicken, hot Italian sausage, shrimp, white wine, garlic butter, and cheese. I enjoyed barely half of this tasty pasta goodness before requesting a box so I could get dessert. For dessert, the Tiramisu ($8 plus tax) was a very good chilled dessert, which had layers of espresso soaked ladyfingers, mascapone cream. topped with cocoa, powdered sugar, whipped cream on the side. The check for 3 courses was $48.15 with tax and before tip. The food overall was very good and filling to eat. The service was adequate with food being served in timely order. I was able to barely finish the antipasti and after the big bowl was taken away, my pasta dinner arrived very hot shortly afterward. I would definitely return here to try their other food including other pasta dishes and specialty pizzas. read more

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years under three different owners. Many of the staff have been with the place for a long while and they are very nice to deal with. Shannon at the bar is very friendly and the drinks are well done. Price of the drinks is about average for a good restaurant. Table of five handled quite easily on a Monday evening in September. We were mostly repeat diners as we tried Bella's in 2024 and were immediately delighted with the service, quality and quantity of food, and the great drinks options. Now, this is a homey, older school restaurant (thank goodness as we hate chains and new school places) so go with the flow and enjoy the dining. And, oh, there's a small bar area and outdoor seating too. We'll be back in to 2026. read more

The food here is genuinely Italian but there is always different specials. Great food, great service and homemade desserts. I go here as much as I can for a super lunch or dinner. well new place for us here though have beenhere in a former restaurant....we liked it, interesting drink menu and the pumpkin martini was very much enjoyed, my regular old martini was also very good and nicely sized, service was pleasant and attentive, food was great, reuben ( well maybe not too Italian) was wonderful and the chicken parm very good and plentiful, seemed to have lots of parking but this was lunch so who knows later on....very good Italian, we will be back!! read more

Exceptional Pizza twice! We are very picky about our pizza, we like thin crust not sweet classic toppings. Many times we go somewhere and the pizza is good the night we get it , so we go again and it is not good so we switch to another venue and it goes like this all the time. We got Pizza at Bella's a couple months ago and again last night. The pizza was good last time and exceptional last night. This is just for the pizza- I ordered a Silciccia (sp) pizza for pick up on Friday, 8/15. I sat and waited despite being told 15-20 min. OK, fine. They are unfailingly polite there and everyone smiled...this is not nothing these days! However, the pizza was another story. The ingredients were tasty, sure, but the entire slice fell apart when picking it up; I mean SLID right off the entire slice. A good pizza shouldn't droop like that. I tried reheating leftovers and it was impossible (fork and knife situation a must). There is better pizza in Acton. read more

I want to give Bella's a good review because they clearly want to please. However, the food is just average. The cheese lasagna is a little runny. The tomato sauce is biting without any swe& the meatballs were over seasoned & burnt. Paissano's In Leominster is much better. The lobster ravioli were ok, better at Filoh's in Groton ironically. Bella's Great Road in Acton is @ the same location as the former Filho's, but under new ownership. The great news is that the majority of the former menu items remain, in addition to specials, like their generous, delicious serving of shepherds pie on this St Patty's day. Cake pops made by the owner's wife were featured, but sold out before we arrived. The owner and his staff are very hospitable. Our server Linda was excellent. She was approachable, thoughtful & friendly. In an effort to increase her fan club membership, please ask for Linda's table when you stop by. It's one of my favorite area restaurants. Their chicken marsala, complimentary bread w/herbs that you can mix with the balsamic, olive oil, crushed red pepper & grated parmesan on the table & peanut butter pie, just to mention a few, are excellent. Generous portions with a fair price point. The bar side features high tops w/regular tables on the dining room side. My wife and I have visited Bella's twice now since it's reopening under new management about a month ago. Our experiences were consistently excellent, great food, drinks, and service at a reasonable price. The menu has a wide variety of options with traditional and creative options including sandwiches, pizza, pastas, and mains. One way that I judge Italian restaurants is by their marinara sauce and Bella's was superb. Portions were large such that we had no room for dessert and took home what we couldn't eat for a nice lunch today! To bad, since there are homemade cupcakes and other treats exquisitely made by the owners wife. Service was very attentive and friendly. Our food was served promptly and we were checked on often to refill our water glasses, and to see if there was anything else we needed. The owner stopped by to say hello and receive feedback on our dining experience. It's clear that new ownership of Bella's is serious about making his restaurant a great dining option. read more

I wish I could post this review based on my food experience at Bella's, however, that is not the case. I called earlier in the evening asking what time the kitchen closed, they said 9:30. I show up at 9:10 was greeted at the door by owner/manager. He said "what do you want?" I mentioned we called and were looking to order dinner. As he was leaning against the door frame for support, he told me the kitchen closed and smelt heavily of booze. We were denied dinner and we're treated very disrespectfully. As we walked to the car, we were deciding alternative dinner options... said man tried to lock the door. He was swaying and could not complete the task. As he stood up, he nearly fell over and luckily hit the wall to catch him. To operate a business based on this leadership is disrespectful to not only his employees but also his community. This is our 5th time in the last month with the same experience since new ownership. read more

Service was from the grumpiest, most miserable older woman who has no business being in the service industry. Have been going to this restaurant for years by it's former name and always had great service, friendly staff and reservations were always correct. Not one of those things happened during my recent visit. Whomever took my reservation put all of my party in a strange room. Had to straighten that out. Too many rude things to name, but this witch of a waitress came after me in front of the whole restaurant because I tipped appropriately to the service my party received, which was more than deserved. So disappointing. Not worth talking to management about... Update: Called the restaurant to speak to the owner. The person that I spoke to said he was the manager and that the owner would be in later. This was the same person who sat us in the wrong room... I called back later again asking for the manager. We went to Bella's for the first time since they switched owners. It was my Mom and Dad's 60th wedding anniversary and we wanted to go some place special. The manager and staff couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming when we asked if we could have our party at Bella's. It was 6 in our party. We had asked if they have a private area for our dinner. My Dad is very hard of hearing and gets over anxious when there are lots of people and noise in big areas. The manager had a wonderful small room where it fit 6 very comfortably and it met our requirement of little stimulation and less noise. They allowed us to decorate w/ pictures, balloons, etc. which made the room perfect. The staff did a fantastic job taking care of us, treating us like family and not rushing through dinner. The food was fresh, delicious and plentiful. Some had tortellini w/ broccoli, seafood, a huge hamburger platter, salads, fried ravioli. The food was hot coming to our table and (again) plentiful. After dinner we had pictures taken and the manager came in to introduce himself holding 2 cupcakes. He asked if we were taken care of and did we need anything. He was very gracious and welcoming. We were We were too full for dessert.... next time ! Most of all, my parents were pleased and had a wonderful time. Thank you Bella's and staff! read more
