Clearly a winner if you're looking to paddleboard while on vacation. 808 will bring the boards to your hotel at 7:30 am, and you get them for $45 each for the ENTIRE DAY. Well, until 5. But still. First class outfit. Called them at 10 AM and by 11 we had two SUP dropped off at our condo in Kahana. Great boards, they told us just to tell them where we ended up and they would come get the boards. After a four mile SUP down the coast, I called, they picked up the boards. We have been coming to Maui for quite a few years now and I always rent our boards from 808 Boards for those two weeks. Dallas and his crew are really laid back, nice, and consistently have great service. Offer to pay in cash for a local's (Kama'aina) discount. Call ahead to reserve your board during winter & summer seasons when they are busy. My kids somehow managed to ding the bottom of their board a bit and I offered to pay for the board repair but Dallas was super cool and said he'd take care of it at no charge. He also swapped the board out for another one. Their guys always give good advice when the winds pick up...in terms of watching how far we paddle out & to consider staying closer to shore on those offshore, windier days. Great place to rent paddle boards. We rented paddle boards from 808 in Napili twice while we were in Maui. They were great! The guy who rented us the boards was way cool and laughed at all of our dumb jokes (which we appreciated). ;) My husband and I had never used SUP before and he gave us great instruction. I liked that they had an option to only rent the boards for a few hours (vs. a full day), especially the first day since we were tired from doing it for the first time. We paid $35 per person for about 2.5 hrs, I think. All of the hotels and other rental places on the island only have one option - $45 for the day. So it was nice to have that cheaper option. I also loved that we could walk the boards from their rental shop right down to the beach, and walk them right back to return them. It made it super easy vs. trying to fit those huge SUPs in our rental car. read more

As part of an activities package, we had a reservation for SUP rentals at our Lahaina resort. Due to various reasons of our own, we weren't able to rent them on that given day. We called 808 Boards and Lucho (the man in charge!) was so helpful. He suggested that we just pick a day that was good for us, and come to Napili Bay to SUP, as it is more calm than the bay we were staying in. When we got to the store, he helped us get set up, find the beach, and gave us pointers about where to go. We had a GREAT day and highly recommend this shop for your water sports needs. read more

When I called not only did they deliver to me but they also picked up. They give you a brief run down of how to use the equipment. Went to Maui for my honeymoon and rented 2 paddleboards from this location. I think I spoke with Daniel? (can't remember) but he was very helpful and very accommodating! BLUF: Very disappointed I had to wait at the beach for over an hour only to have to cancel my lesson I had booked two days prior. However the entire staff was polite and willing to work out the mistake they had made. I have been long boarding for a while so I decided to try to learn to short board. So I scheduled a short board lesson two days prior and was told to come their shack a few minutes before my 11:30 lesson. Naturally I showed up around 11:15 to ensure everything was squared away. I was told my instructor, Benny, was finishing up a group lesson and would be in shortly. After waiting for 20 minutes, Benny came walking over with a giant stack of 7 paddle boards. The man looked exhausted and apologized for being late. He had just finished a group lesson of seven on his own. He asks for a short break to rest and eat lunch. Of course, it would not make sense for me to ask him to just do my lesson so even though we had a large party hanging out at the beach and prepared to go to whalers village for dinner after, we agreed to meet up later at 1:00 PM. When we met at 1:00, the surf was not great for short boarding and Benny suggested we move to Lahaina to catch some better waves. While I appreciated the suggestion, we had a party of 10 and a dinner reservation at 6:00 so moving wasn't possible. Up to this moment, I was pretty pissed off. Not with Benny, he didn't have control over scheduling and much less with weather conditions, but I was quite upset with the managing staff. Why would they think that it would be reasonable to schedule a 2 hour private lesson immediately after a group lesson? Benny offered me the board for the rest of the day for free and that they would pick it up from my resort the next morning. Additionally, when I called the shop, Freddy quickly apologized and told me my card should be refunded by tomorrow. Essentially, seeing other reviews and talking to staff, I feel 808 Boards could have easily earned a 5/5 but an entire afternoon was ruined due to a scheduling error and costed them 2 stars. read more

When I told the shop the board was defective and had to rent elsewhere to surf they denied there was a problem and didn't want to give us our money back. Then they said the boards weren't always ok. Hmm. Seems to me that they shouldn't rent out defective merchandise. Just sayin. I gave them 1 star because they reluctantly agreed to return our money. If you want a good board, don't come here. Amazing staff, with everything you need for a perfect day in and on the water. Went to Napili beach with my family. The one thing they all wanted to do was paddleboard, and I hadn't delivered all week on this. We saw the shop on our way to the beach, got set up in the sand and went back to try and get some boards. Greeted with a chill smile and vibe, suggestions, and options. We got a couple boards, a few more fun things from the shop and we were out in the water in 20 minutes. He was full of knowledge and was excited to share and made us feel safe. We shared lots of laughs, caught a fish, saw turtles, sharks, eels and held an octopus! Benny is AMAZING!!!!!!!! Second year of lessons. This time we included our 5 year old. Both our girls were up and surfing on their first try. 808 Boards is great. They helped organize our lesson. They are so courteous and knowledgable. When we walked in to book, they instantly remembered my daughter from last year. They appreciated that we posted on yelp and were even more appreciative that we gave them our business again. We specifically requested Benny and even though he was available when we booked, we would have worked around our schedule to get lessons from him. He was great with our girls (5 & 7)! My 5 year old only lasted about 30 mins and then wanted to be done (a face plant on the beach will do that) however, she did end up going back out again. Benny worked with our other daughter. My family (wife & teenage daughter) are in Maui for the first time and wanted to try paddle boarding. We saw 808 rentals on the beach at Napili Kai Beach Resort so we thought we would give it a try. The parking lot is tight but after three loops around the block we found a place to park. We went in the storefront and my wife and daughter began looking around while I went to the front counter to inquire about rentals. There were two employees at the front desk, one teaching another. As I stood there they stopped for a beat to look at me then went right back to what they were doing. I was completely shocked to say the least. They literally ignored me on purpose. I stood there for another minute in a state of disbelief then we all left and got back in the car. Maybe this is a local versus tourist thing, who knows. Played all day in the water and left it with the valet so 808 could pick it up in the morning. 24 hours for $45 they drop it and pick it up. The hotels want 35 an hour.... In February 2018, two hours for a paddleboard rental was $25 and a whole day was $45. You can drop off the paddleboard at five and pick them up in the morning to keep on going. These guys are awesome! We called the day we got into Maui and within hours we had surf and paddle boards delivered. Staff was helpful, friendly and timely. They gave us great snorkeling tips and told us that we really had a great surf location so no need to even travel with the boards. This is a no brainer for surfboard rental! I called for a board rental, told them where I intended to surf, what I normally ride, and asked for their recommendation based on that and the current conditions. An hour and a half later a very new 9' fiberglass 808 Board showed up delivered to my hotel with an extra 1/2 stick of wax. Met the driver in the valet area of my hotel, gave him a credit card for deposit and $25 for the 24 hour rental plus a tip. The next morning I dropped the board off with the hotel bellmen and 808 came by to pick it up later that morning without any involvement from me. This could not get any easier or more convenient. If you just want a board for a few days of local playing around and don't want to cart your stuff all the way to Maui then you'll be hard pressed to find a service that beats this! read more
