[Out-of-Towner Review] Same, but better! We were craving sandwiches and used Yelp to find one in or near Kihei. I saw the name of the restaurant and thought it seemed really familiar. When we arrived and I saw the sandwich board menu, I realized it was the same place we visited last trip, but it just has a new home/digs! I think the best part is that there is now seating to enjoy your meal. Their last spot was a grab-n-go style. I was feeling a wrap, so I ordered the Chicken Cesar salad wrap with the dressing on the side. I love that their Cesar is homemade! The wrap was great and refreshing. I also snagged a bag of Maui Onion chips and a Pepsi, my favorite accoutrement for a deli! The rest of the fam ordered sandwiches and hot dogs, all thoroughly enjoyed! This is a no frills experience. They rest their laurels on their food. You order at the counter and grab your chips and bottled/canned soda and then order your sandwich/hot dog/food. The seating is simple. Been one of my favorite places ever since we came to maui for the first time! In 11 years, the quality has dropped off at all! The porkie is as good as any sandwich you will eat anywhere! The dipping sauce with it puts it over the top! Absolutely phenomenal! My wife raves about the pesto sandwich and loved it again today. The potato mac salad is so good- like an potato, mac,and egg salad mixed into one. There are chopped pickles and onions in it- but I always get it! I tried something different today- got the lillikoi pudding instead of banana pudding. All I can say is it's sinful! Omg- can't describe how good that was. The ratings on Yelp are wild! I think the rule of thumb is to knock off 2 stars for most spots in tourist areas. We stayed up the block and got pulled in by the reviews. This sandwich is mid at best. Got the turkey on sliced sourdough - it was about 2 inches high, but the bread was old and crumbled into pieces as we were trying to eat it. Honestly one of my favorite meals. Tucked away in the strip mall in Kihei, this is not a place to miss! So many good items. I did not take a photo of the menu but the sandwiches come with salads for an extra charge. GET it. I got a breakfast sandwich that had egg, mushroom and some type of sausage and cheese. The pesto salad is not bad but the spicy popular cold salad is a must! Get that! My bf got some spicy sandwich with a side of potato salad. Again, everything was so delicious! They had some creme pies as well with local flavors like guava and ube! I got a banana one and it was just alright, but it's a nice addition for those who want to have the main course and dessert all in one place. Friendly staff. They have water available for free! The staff are super kind and helpful, the food tastes fantastic, it's in a very convenient location within walking distance to the beach, it's a very clean establishment, and the view indoors as you eat is mountains and palm trees. Stopped by twice, once for breakfast and had the BLT, and a second time for turkey sandwiches and pesto pasta salad to take with us up to Haleakala. The turkey is real turkey (not your typical preservative loaded deli turkey) that is cut thick and tasted great with the fresh produce on good bread. I subbed in spicy aioli and added onions, while my partner kept the original cranberry aioli - both versions were solid. My husband and I landed in Maui on a Tuesday morning. It was still early in the morning and not many places were opened for lunch. Then, we came across 808 Deli. At the time, I could really go for a salad and a sandwich. Plus, the prices were reasonable. There appeared to be a small line forming out the door, which is a good sign. When it came time for us to order, we got 2 Caesar salads and 1 Toasted Italian sandwich to share. My husband asked about the portions of the salad. From the way the staff member described, it sounded like a substantial portion. We sat ourselves at one of the tables at the deli as we waited for our food. About 10 minutes later, our food was ready. The staff member was right! This Caesar salad was huge just the way I like it. It was so delicious and so satisfying to eat this large salad. I barely had room for the Toasted Italian sandwich. I made room anyway, because I needed the energy for the hike we were about to embark, so I ate my half of the sandwich. Even though it was a toasted sandwich -- I thought the inside would be cold, like a cold Italian sandwich back home in Philly -- it was still delicious and totally hit the spot. While in Maui that week, there were times I wanted so badly to come back to 808 Deli for more salads, but it just never worked out. The best eats my friends and I had, during our 5 days stay in Kihei! We visited from LA and tried a few local spots recommended from our AIrbnb and through Yelp searches. 808 Deli was a 2 minute walk from our stay and since we had a full schedule of eats for our visit, we ONLY had time to get paninis to go, to eat on our plane. We all ordered the Porkie special recommended by the staff. I think it was made fresh because it took a while to come out LOL when we had the paninis 3 hours later (and it was soggy), 2/3 of us agreed this was our FAV eats during our stay!!! The pork was tender and well seasoned and that sweet chili sauce was the icing on the cake!! I'm still dreaming about this Panini and can't wait to visit again to try this fresh :) read more

Definitely recommend for lunch if you're in Kihei! There is a spacious seating area and plenty of parking right outside the shop. I've only been in Hawaii for a little over a week and I've already been to 808 Deli 3 times for lunch. I've tried some of their sandwiches and salads - they all tasted delicious and are super affordable, especially if you get their deal of the day which is updated on their Instagram page every morning. Their daily specials are typically an $8 sandwich and $6/$8 salad of the day. Salad portions are decently sized. If you call for take out, it's typically about 10-15 minutes which isn't bad at all. You can also eat in the restaurant as well which is nice if you want to get out of the sun and sit somewhere with AC. read more

I suggest getting the Lilikoi Cheesecake or Banana cream - Their best sellers. Sandwich is 5 stars, the pudding 3 stars but maybe it is because of the flavor my daughter chose...? The pudding is whipped; it makes the texture fluffier and lighter. Atmosphere - Small parking lot, but plenty of parking. Small indoor seating. Need a key to use the mall bathrooms, you should have a map of the bathroom locations. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. Service - Ordering in advance is suggested as there can be a long wait. While we were in the long line waiting to place our order, can I suggest a separate pick up line, as it can get confusing for some of your phone and online customers. Wildly unique menu and amazing service. We ordered the wasabi and roast beef toasted sub, which was a great mix between spicy and savory with the aioli spread on it. The southern squealer was amazing and the portion of pulled pork was ridiculous. I also had to try a gourmet hot dog after seeing a couple come out on a tray, I tried the cream cheese, sriracha , and peppercini dog which was amazing. Never thought cream cheese would work but they toast the buns and the cheese gives a nice balance between the heat and the savory. Amazing sandwiches well worth the price! Small place with character with all the stickers lining the place. Even at opening there were already a couple people waiting so that was a good sign. After reading reviews I definitely had to get the shitake beef melt, porkie, reuben, and oreo pudding. The sandwiches here did not disappoint. The shitake beef melt was super tender and the garlic aioli is A-1! My fave though was the porkie much like others because it had a great roasted flavor that paired well with the freshness of the mango salsa and kick of the chili dipping sauce. Both sandwiches had a great crunch and were toasted to perfection. Would definitely get both sandwiches again! The reuben was solid as well but I am not the biggest sauerkraut. I would pass on the oreo pudding next time because it was just a little too sweet for me. Next time I will have to try the other favorites like the chicken pesto! read more

For the most part, the food in Kihei and Wailea is really good. However, it's generally quite expensive compared to what we pay back home. I get it...cost of living and doing biz in Hawaii just costs a lot of $$. This little jewel is a welcome relief from all that. We took our grandkids here for lunch. I was intrigued with the YELP reviews, as I'm ALWAYS up for a quality dog. And 808 didn't disappoint. My favorite was the kraut with mustard. Fresh buns were excellent as well as the plump juicy franks. My wife loved her panini. What an oasis of sanity in the crazy prices in Maui. Good food. One of my favorite take out or eat in place for soup, sandwiches and salads. Their food is always fresh and they always accommodate you if you have allergies. So glad to see they have a new location where you can sit inside. They have a variety of different salads including pasta salads and freshly made soups. Reasonably priced and you will want to come back. Don't forget to buy a couple extra chocolate chip homemade cookies for your Auntie or Tutu. They are so friendly too. This rating is totally based on service at the 808 at Mana Kai. I am staying there for the 15th year in a row. The people working in the deli are rude and provide no help. I purchased things 3 times in the same day. Each time I tried to cash 100. The man working. (with a slight beard) told me every time that he could not break it then just a little while later I went down to try and get some sugar packets. I was told I could not get them without coffee so I ordered a coffee and I took three sugar packets because that was all I was allowed. Then again I tried to cash 100 and the woman said I just came on and can't break it. On top of all of this they were rude and nasty and told us if we have a Rent-A-Car we could go drive someplace and break 100. I feel like the food has gone downhill here in the last year or two and the service is way less than to be desired. We used to love to come to the Mana Kai because there were a lot of things in the deli that we would order during the day now, I don't even wanna go in there. I should say that in addition to coffee I bought a couple other items. We really love 808's other sites and love the food and services in those. read more
