I've been missing that Signature broth that Ba-Le is known for since our Kihei location closed long ago so I made a stop here to Wailuku location after an appointment and I was ready to eat. I only waited maybe less than 10 minutes after ordering. A lot of people take out since there's a few irritating flies and a couple small tables and chairs. The aunty that works there was so sweet and got me hoisin sauce and black pepper and told me to scoot my small table and chair to eat in the shade. I ordered a Mango Boba drink which reminded me of Guri Guri to be honest. (If you're visiting Maui and haven't had Guri Guri, go get yourself some asap!) I loved it. I usually get Honeydew but Mango was just as good! The Chicken Pho was delicious! They gave me a couple slices of jalapeños, bean sprouts, a small lemon wedge and a lot of Thai basil. I loved that yummy comforting broth with slices of white onions, green onions and shredded chicken. Perfect for Maui "winter weather" which is usually 60's-70's lol. If you're looking for a yummy Bahn Mi, I recommend the Chicken (or Tofu) Lemongrass sandwich on Crispy French bread or the Vermicelli noodles with Pork and Imperial Rolls. I've also had their Garlic Shrimp plate and BBQ chicken in times past with Salad and is also very tasty. read more

I ordered the lemon chicken sandwich and Opakapaka and Shrimp plate. My wife said she liked her sandwich that I picked for her. However, my fish and shrimp wasn't so great. I have ordered this plate every time I go there and I used to love it but it now seems like the shrimp keeps getting smaller and less garlic flavor. The fish had a "fishy" taste, most likely due to being an older fish. The fish was a little over cooked and portions seemed small and just like the shrimp, lacked flavor. read more

2.5 stars I had a short amount of time to grab something quick to eat before an appointment. After a long day of eating seafood the day before, I was craving pho but no pho restaurants were open till 11am. My appointment was at 11:30am so that wouldn't work. I searched on Yelp and found Ba-Le Sandwiches. They have good reviews and were open! Ba-Le Sandwiches was easy enough to find and they have ample parking in their private lot. They even have a bunch of clean tables to dine on in the shade. It is windy so account doesn't that with your veggies and napkins. Since I'm on Maui, I wasn't shocked that a bowl of pho is $16. Honestly, I didn't want to pay $16 for a bowl of pho but I was hungry. I ordered their number 22 (Rare Steak & Cooked Flank Steak) pho with the rare steak on the side. I did find it odd that they do no not have Sriracha being a Vietnamese restaurant. The portion size is tiny for the price and a lot of the noodles were stuck to the bottom of the take out container. They were generous with the bean sprouts and basil though. Too bad they didn't have culantro. The broth wasn't piping hot but just warm. After a few days of eating carby Hawaiian food, I was looking for something at least slightly more healthy, so I thought Vietnamese food would fit the craving. The summer rolls hit the spot! It was like eating a hand held salad with shrimp in it. The Banh mi was weird tho tbh. The veggies weren't well-pickled and the chicken had more of a curry flavor to it. I haven't gone for a long while. I've taken notice that the Sunmer Roll has become skinny, and the peanut sauce is very watery and has no peanut texture. They don't give hot sauce unless you ask for it where as to they used to ask you if you'd like hot sauce. On 1/8/25 ordered chicken summer rolls for take-out from Ba-Le Restaurant in Wailuku. Went straight to my next destination a few blocks away where I dropped off the summer rolls to my niece for lunch and left. After leaving, I received a disturbing FaceTime call from my niece showing me a huge fly that was wrapped inside one of the summer rolls. I immediately picked up the rolls and went directly back to Ba-Le. I showed the cashier and one of the cooks the fly in the roll and asked for a refund. Their choices in food are pretty good. Pho, sandwiches and special noodles are always great choices. Their dessert cups and milk tea drinks are also good. They work hard, fullfill your orders pretty quickly, and so far haven't had any issues with my orders. Sometimes they are busy and can't answer the phones. I don't like their website which needs some work to be more user friendly. I appreciate very much how thoughtful they were when renovating their dining tables- they painted them with a very good quality heavy duty paint that makes wiping them down and cleaning them so easy. Their broth takes 24 hours to make and you can taste the love in every slurp. My favorite is the Tofu Pho, filled with fried tofu and veggies. I love the sides of bean sprouts, thai basil, lemon and jalapeno. And you gotta add the sriracha and plum sauce. The portions are large, easily make's two meals. I ordered the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken plate. I asked them to cook some jalapeños into the dish to spice it up even more. I also asked them to hold the fish sauce and add more green salad. They accommodated me on both requests. I enjoyed the meal very much. Portions of the rice and chicken were generous and flavorful, more sweet than spicy.
