What a great spot in Waipahu! Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. Staff is pleasant and establishment is clean and comfortable. I was so happy to he invited to this Yelp event that I was able to bring my family to try as well. We ordered a few different things but I forgot to take pictures of everything because it was so good it was gone before I remembered lol. My husband ordered the BBQ mix plate (chicken, kalbi, beef) the flavors were delicious! The kalbi had a good amount of meat and was very tender. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. The beef was a little tough but not bad. My son ordered the laulau kalua pig combo and omg...soooo ono! The pig was juicy and perfectly smoked. I with there was a little more of it and less cabbage but would still order again. The laulau was delicious with a generous amount of pork. I love that it wasn't salty and you can actually taste the flavor of the pork and lū'au leaf. We ordered my daughter fried fish plate and she said it was good but she didn't care for the Mac salad because it had onion. The pineapple cucumber juice was very refreshing but tasted mainly of cucumber. While we were there my son tried the 808 timer challange and won! He hit the timer right at 808 and won a $20 gift card we will definitely be back to use! We went to a Yelp event and I decided to invite my family members to grab lunch, but before heading out I tried calling to make sure they were open because of the problem with Lala approaching Hawaii we were getting rain and strong winds. I tried calling 3 times but it go straight into voicemail and cuts, so no chance of talking to anyone. So we decided to leave earlier and let the family know if they were open or not because they would be driving in from Kaimuki area. They were open, so we had lunch there, I checked in and ordered off the Yelp order sheet. I ordered the spicy chicken and spicy pork and it came with rice & macaroni salad and fresh apple salad and a choice of pineapple cucumber drink or a halo halo drink the reviews said that the pineapple cucumber drink tasted more like cucumber, so I decided on the halo halo. The spicy pork was very tasty and not overly spicy and the spicy chicken seems like they use chicken breast so it was thick and the marinade was only on the surface and the chicken was dry. The fresh apple salad was very good and the sesame dressing was good and when well with the salad. The Kalbi was good and tasty The crinkle cut French fries came out hot and crispy which was great! The mix plate was huge with Teri beef, beef curry, hamburger patty with gravy, it was very good. The halo halo was tasty and good They don't have a restroom and when asked if the shopping complex had a public restroom, they said no you need to go to the other shopping mall which she said go to Seafood City they have restroom. I'm surprised that all the restaurants and retail outlets there and they don't have a restroom for all their customers that go there. They are located in the old Highway inn restaurant that used to serve Hawaiian Food and sell fresh seafood. Very clean place! It's in the Old Highway, Inn. Had a food emergency for Church, went over and picked up a couple medium trays of Mochiko, chicken and orange chicken. Both were very good, but the Mochiko chicken was the big star according to everybody at church! I also recommend calling ahead, or even ordering ahead from their website. I already paid for it, saves time, especially if a larger order like mine. It took about 25 minutes because there were other customers there too. Don't forget to play the game right next to the register, push the button and if you can stop the timer on 8.08 seconds, you get a $20 gift certificate! I got 8.03! Lol read more

When we got there the lady was very nice and helpful in greeting us and taking our order. I ordered the "chicken lover" which consist of BBQ chicken, korean chicken, and katsu. We shortly received our order and brought it home to eat. The Korean chicken wasn't what I was expecting, was a little dry but still tasty. The BBQ chicken hit home home and the katsu was crispy and their katsu sauce was very good. Mac salad was better than most places not too mayoe lol. 3 star for breakfast special price 5.99 and 2 stars for just simple breakfast portion over bed of rice which took 25 minutes from start of order to receiving. Yes, it was just breakfast meats that should've been pre half cooked and simply heating when ordered and eggs that can be already whipped and ready for serving in 2 minutes. I don't know why it takes so long for simple breakfast. Maybe it was just one of those days, but I had a unsatisfied first impression . Already once I got there, I came across two homeless people outside the restaurant asking for money. I haven't tried the other plates on menu. But I'll give it a try. We were not able to eat where we wanted so we had to find a place while in Waipahu. We only wanted a quick plate lunch type of meal where we could dine in. 808 Hawaiian BBQ was close by so we decided to take a chance. Service by young lady was very good. She waited patiently while we chose what to order. We didn't order drinks, but when we said we were dining in, she immediately told us she was giving up two cups of water. Appreciate that she wasn't as loud as some Chinese speaking people (while talking to the cook in the back) and was very pleasant. Hubby ordered a mini Orange Chicken with one scoop white rice and mac. I ordered veggie spring rolls (5 ea). Price was ok. They had several phone in orders while we waited in our booth, and one other dine in. Food came out quickly. Orange chicken was plentiful. Flavor was ok, but good enough for hubby to bring it home to eat the rest for another meal. My spring rolls were fried really nicely. Crisp and delicate wrapper, but veggies were a bit mushy inside. Flavor was the regular veggie spring roll flavor. Sauce was different, not the usual sweet sour, but a soy, garlic based sauce. Was not my fav but I could have gone to check out the other condiments, just chose not to. Menu covers breakfast, lunch, has regular plate lunches and Chinese options. Don't know what happened to my original review of this place. Original review gave five stars. But I visited recently and was disappointed. AC wasn't on, no longer had $10 meal of the month. Reviews say there's a new operator. The portions are still plenty for the price paid. I had the hamburger patties,three of the ŵith enough gravy to cover everything. Wife had the fried chicken. Both dishes were extremely hot. Just as I remembered from my last couple of reviews. The gravy was thick, and not watery Dipped some of my wife's fried chicken. That helped as the chicken batter was clumpy in some spots. Fried chicken was crunchy, but not enough flavor. With the quantity served its a winner. But with the lack of taste it didn't for me. Maybe just a bad day. Go again? If I was hungry. Sure. Quanity is the only saving factor in this visit. read more

This used to be my go-to spot for local plate lunches. I understand that prices have gone up, but unfortunately the quality and portion sizes seem to have gone down as well. The fried shrimp was so dry that I was honestly surprised it was served. The chicken katsu and mac salad were both lacking flavor, which was especially disappointing--how does chicken katsu end up tasting so bland? I also noticed that they no longer ask for your phone number to earn rewards points; the cashier just skipped that step entirely. The workers are very nice, courteous, and always sociable with their customers. The place is pretty clean. There are many tables and chairs. I think many customers always order takeout so there's always a table available if you want to eat inside. Service is fairly quick for the most part as well. Beef Stew Mix - generous serving of white rice and mac salad, smothered with a huge helping of beef stew, large piece of teri beef, and hamburger steak -- 2 STARS -- the beef from the stew was pretty chewy and not tender as you'd expect or want from any beef stew. The teri beef, same thing, quite tough & salty. Hamburger patty from the hamburger steak was cooked to death! Not only was it as thin as a McDonald's hamburger patty, but it was burnt on the other side that was not displayed. They also just dropped a spoonful or so of gravy, which was pretty useless. It was flavor overload, but not in a good way. To make the matter worse, the mac was under seasoned and very bland. Kalua Pork Cabbage & BBQ Chicken Combo - 2 scoops white rice, 1 generous scoop mac salad, Kalua pig cabbage and 2 chicken thighs marinated and finished with sauce -- 3 STARS -- great portion, but the pork was dry and the cabbage had a bunch of those moldy looking pieces (blah). The teri beef, over marinated resulting in a sour over powering soy flavor. The teri chicken, cooked perfectly but over glazed with a thick bought in teri sauce. Properly cooked but not crisp fried fish. From the muddiness, catfish? Finally, well fried shrimp that has a definite processed food flavor. Inexpensive. Weighty plates, $16 each. Have gone their for Christmas a few years in a row and EVERY time, it's PERFECT! the food is delicious and fresh. We always have a ton of leftovers that last a few days afterwards so you know they're fresh. In terms of the place itself, everything was super clean and neat. Doesn't really have an "ambiance" per se because it's more of a takeout place, but the do have tables that you can sit at. Service is always friendly and prompt. We make suggestions as to where we should meet, and last month's Admission Day took us to 808 Hawaiian BBQ. This is the former location of Hawaiian BBQ House. I was here for Mother's Day, earlier this year. The free shared parking is much appreciated! However, there's no restroom. The closest one is across the street at McDonald's. I ordered the Garlic Salmon plate. It came with white rice and macaroni salad. I believe the Mac salad had some tuna in it... yum! However, the Salmon was a bit dry and on the hard side. On a recent State holiday, Admission Day to be exact, a group of foodie friends trekked from town to Waipahu to try one of Oahu's spanking new businesses. The venue was 808 Hawaiian BBQ (808), that is in West Loch Town Station with neighboring businesses such as McDonald's, Hawaii Pot Shabu Shabu, Pizza Hut, Ribs and Broth 3rd Oahu location, and Donnie's BBQ Smokehouse Soul Food Express. 808 opened earlier this month with their grand opening on 8/8/2024. As a townie, GPS easily navigated me here and on a State holiday. It only took a little over 20min one way and I was the first to arrive shortly before 11am. As several more friends shuffled in, I entered 808 with them to check out the restaurant. Interior is spacious and clean. 808 strongly resembles L&L with almost identical menu offerings. I had studied the menu prior to this get together on what to order but scrapped those plans when a lady came to us showing her favorite garlic fried chicken plate. Sold!!! You first order your food and pay at the counter. We sat in a corner and waited for our food. Please note that the restaurant was not busy and it did take some time for the food to arrive. We utilized our waiting time catching up with each other and exchanging recent food findings. It was nice that our plates were delivered to our table. We realized each plate was piping hot, an evidence that food is made to order. For fresh food, the wait is worthwhile in my books. My friends got their food first and after snapping photos with our cell phones, I advised them to start eating so their food would not get cold. The portions are generous here and food was plated nicely but the execution was off. 2 of my friends ordered roast pork but unfortunately the gravy was salty. It was a deep brown color that appeared rich but a bit heavy on the seasoning. Both ate less than half and tossed the rest. Another friend ordered spicy pork but shockingly it was too spicy for him where he only took a few bites and the rest also ended in the trash. We got 2 plates of the highly anticipated garlic fried chicken and it was temperature hot. Chicken thighs are deboned and butterflied, then deep fried until golden brown. However, the chicken sat in the oil too long as the chicken was overcooked. Some areas were chewy and dry. Also, the garlic seemed to be missing. Seemed like this was just a fried chicken plate. On the other hand, the french fries were perfect. Nice golden brown with a great crunch and salted just right. Paired well with ketchup. Customer service was above average. The staff were friendly and patient. Truly 808 is a new business seeking success. Overall, a fairly decent first experience at 808 where I walked away somewhat satisfied. The portions are generous where I was only able to eat about 1/3 with delicious leftovers to take home. Just like any new business, 808 has some kinks to iron out, especially with execution. With lots of shared parking with neighborhood businesses, this location is convenient. read more

Great food and great service! Think of it as a better L&L BBQ. The prices are very reasonable and the workers are friendly. The only bad side is there was a homeless man that came in that made trouble to the workers cause he wanted them to give him food for like a dollar. He yelled and screamed and this area still he has residentially challenged people. So there may homeless in the area just so you know. Other than that they have great food and cheap mini plates that are very generous in portions for around $10. Go check them out and support local! read more

For what it's worth this place has a super expansive menu and solid portions but for what I've gotten so far I'm not entirely sold on the concept... Ordered in to escape the aftermath of the weather and was surprised to see the breath of options available. Went with Portuguese sausage musubi pair, pork lumpia and chicken katsu which is normally my benchmark. Portions were nice outside the lumpia which was damn near pencil thin and didn't have the usual accouterments that come with it. The sauce therefore carried this mission which I did decide to use for the katsu sparingly as well. Speaking of sauce the katsu sauce was popping and huge for what it's worth but again carried the dish as the katsu was soft and full of meat which isn't my jam I like crispy thinner pieces but portion wise again it was fucking massive so your mileage may vary for this one. The musubis doh were a slam dunk taste was solid rice ratios was elite and every bite was flavorful. Overall would consider trying this place maybe in person to see if it's different down the line but as of now the jury is still out ish. read more

I was in desperate need of finding an open Hawaiian BBQ spot on Memorial Day on the way to Ko Olina. 808 was one of the several places open, glad it was. Portions were huge. I ordered a meat and meat combo (Katsu+Spicy Pork) with a side of fries and Mac. This one plate fed 3 of us. We were all stuffed for sure! Place was pretty empty when I arrived around dinner time. Seems like most people call in their takeout orders as there were a few pickups while I was there. Their menu was very extensive so I had a hard time deciding. I ended up ordering the mixed loco (hamburger patty and chicken katsu w/ 2 eggs and gravy. Food was pretty good but the chicken katsu soaked up all the gravy so there wasn't enough for the hamburger patty. Would have been great if they had put the gravy in a separate container. read more
