I ordered 2 breakfast plate wanted to sub for fried rice for .50 more but they sold out on fried rice. a breakfast plate of spam and Portuguese sausage with over- easy style eggs for both. The eggs, spam, sausage were cooked just like how we love it, I would make cook this for us but I am too lazy and I just can't get my eggs to come out over-easy like this, hehe so for $5. it is more convenient just to stop here for our breakfast. I'm obsessed with their okazuya options. The key is to go early if you want the full spread while everything's hot and freshly stocked. If you come later, some of the favorites might be gone -- they sell out for a reason. If okazuya is running low, their breakfast plates are HUGE and super affordable, so you're still winning. All the aunties have been there forever and run the place quick and straight to the point -- no fluff, just efficient local service. It's busy often (for good reason), so calling ahead is possible, but don't be surprised if they don't answer during rush times. Cash Only!!!!! I love okazuya food especially when they look like they were in business for a long time. Located on Mango street across Storage place, easy to find. Street parking is available but you must look. We got lucky as we found parking right outside. It was a busy street. As I walked in I notice how open it was with a the food showcase and a cashier up in the back. Looked like there was a sit in dining area because of the floor space inside before walking towards the back of the store. There were so many options, I was so excited. I decided to try fried chicken, chow fun, fish patty, veggie lumpia, hot dog , egg, maki sushi. Truth is I was disappointed because everything was not drained, very oily, and there was no taste. Looks like they were shorting the dashi and salt. I was actually disappointed. The price was reasonable for the portion which is a plus for everyone. I'm a very harsh critiquer and I'm willing to try again. Maybe it was an off day? I was hoping to get the mom and pops old school secret recipe and taste. We were planning to go to Guieb for breakfast but found a parking space in front of Kitchen Delight. Fast change we will pick up for breakfast and lunch from here and take home. Small, few tables to dine in, counter to place orders or select from their prepared local Japanese type okazu food behind the glass. Note: update- The breakfast is now listed as $5.00 on their menu board. Lots of items caught my eye. The lady next to me told me she wanted to try one of everything on one plate- we giggled. I chose 2 each of: hot dog sticks, hamburger, fried chicken, longanisa 1 of: Vegetable tempura Potato tempura 1 serving Fried saimin 1 serving kimpira gobo These were to share with hubs, not all for me. My favorites were the crispy edges on the sweet potato(purple) tempura, longanisa and tender gobo. Afterthought I should have gotten a plain musubi it would have gone well with the flavor of the gobo. The cook seems to have a heavy hand on seasoning IMHO(salty) but perhaps some might like that. The fried saimin not so much flavor as the rest. Might be perfect to take down to the beach and chase down with ice cold water, Diet Coke or maybe something stronger. The vegetable tempura and fried chicken(huge, $4 a piece) looked awesome but was fried a bit too long so difficult to tear apart to eat. I grew up eating okazuya from Honda Delicatessan ( long gone) for elementary school field trips located across from the original Liliha Bakery. Those flavors from the past are hard for me to forget. Fast food chains seem to have replaced old school okazuyas but some still survive, not many in my neighborhood. For now bentos close to Pearlridge will have to do for me. read more

Had an early lunch at nearby Shiges Saimin. Our Uber driver asked if we had tried Kitchen Delight. Well told him to take us there so we could pick up Okazu for dinner. This place had no signage that I could see from the street. Our driver pointed out a non descript green building. The service was pleasant. I ordered one Teriyaki turkey tail, one shrimp tempura, one vegetable tempura, and a roll of maki sushi. The turkey tail was the best of the bunch. The tempura both shrimp and vegetable were oily and had a thick tasteless batter. The roll of maki sushi was passable with a slight vinegar taste. batter. The Double Shock and Awe at Kitchen Delight will fill you up. Not many places you will find a meal of 4 eggs, 2 choices of meat and on a bed of fried rice for $11. The bowl of turkey tail adobo was also a tender, juicy but not to vinegary addition to my kanak attack. They are one of the most affordable okazuyas on the island, so if in Wahiawa check them out on Mango Street in a light green building with no real signage. I've been frequenting Kitchen Delight in Wahiawa lately. The food was always good but what keeps me coming back are the prices. Once I ordered 3 pieces of okazu including a adobo Turkey tail and it was only $4.50. They still have the shock and awe breakfast ( rice, 2 eggs and choice of meat) for only $4.00. It's like you went back in time about 10 years. There are okazuyas with better food but Kitchen Delight is about half the price. read more

It's rare to find a place so cheap and yet so delicious! I was dropping off my old man and found out about a unicorn in today's economy a solid breakfast, plate lunch or bento all 20 bucks or less. Now okazuyas been my jam since baby days but this place takes the cake. I got the shock and awe breakfast for 5 DOLLARS! And I'll happily say it again for the people in the back. I woke up @4a on my day off with no where to eat in Kaneohe besides fast food. Searched Yelp for an okazuya as I know most open early. I stumbled across this place. I know it's kinda far but it was worth the drive! Ordered 2 breakfast plates (fried rice was just meh) and 2 okazu plates. Paid only $35! They have a wide variety of choices to choose from all of which are fairly cheap compared to the okazuya places in town. Hubby and I came here for breakfast. It's cash only. The breakfast plate with one meat is $4.00 from the menu I looked at. They have different combos you can get for a good price. This place was good for breakfast. I got white rice, two eggs over easy with two thick slices of spam. Spam was cooked through and slightly crispy on the outside. Just how I like it. I drank a Aloha maid iced tea. Tasted kind of strange for a canned drink but the food is what I enjoyed. The inside is fairly small and looks run down inside but the breakfast was good. Went here with a relative last Thursday, August 18th for the first time for the both of us having interest from a local YouTuber who liked their Shock N Awe breakfast and entree bowls. But we were there for the okazu items and knowing how okazu-ya hours are and how soon foods go empty (as they usually do not restock once they are out of a food item), we decided to go early and was there about 9:20ish. The outside looks worn and could use a better neutral color of gloss paint. Once inside, we saw three contemporary glass display cases and since there were two other parties before us, we just looked at what items we wanted to get. There was just the one older woman servicing the front, don't know if there were any others in the back cooking. She didn't talk much really, listened to what you order and take your cash and give you change back. A positive was that each item on sale had a price shown, so you could add up your meal and not get shocked at the end of your selection! I went with chow funn, nori wrapped ume plain rice ball, teri chicken, sweet potato tempura, eggplant omelet and gobo. Total came out to $10.50 which got me so excited, as I know okazu-ya items can get out of hand and may total $18-$19 or even more! At the time I was there, there were pretty much that each selection had about half remaining, except that I saw there was only one remaining corn beef hash (which I didn't see and should have gotten). When we left, there were three separate customers standing behind us so it gets busy off and on. Dropped off my relative at his house and once I got home, I had to take a few bites of the foods! Now upon opening the lid, you can see the shine on the exterior of the sweet potato tempura and on the eggplant omelet... turned out that was OIL --- and lots of it! This could only mean one thing: the oil used for deep frying wasn't hot enough temperature wise, so the oil soaked through! urghh ! Let me break down each item separately: 1) chow funn - looked alright, but bland in taste - needs flavoring noticeably, 2) the nori wrapped rice ball - did its job, nothing to complain about - neither sticky nor dried out grains of rice, 3) teri chicken - a little too salty for my taste and funny as it doesn't look anything like what I had envisioned as local style teri chicken as it looked to be a butterflied piece of thigh and dipped perhaps in batter that had some teri(yaki) sauce --- taste was weak (and salty), 4) sweet potato tempura - for $1, the overall size made it a generous bargain! BUT, seeing how much of a shine it had, I decided to get two paper towels to soak up the oil. Boy, two paper towels was NOT enough, as it soaked through both towels and made both my left and right hands completely were soaked in oil, 5) eggplant omelet - see comments above ... same as the sweet potato, plus it REALLY needed some salt (and perhaps pepper) to flavor the eggplant. It just looked to be that the pounded down eggplant was put into eggwash and deep-fried, 6) gobo - way over simmered with no crunch at all - suitable for people missing some or even all their teeth, as you could slightly chew with one's gums and be able to swallow. I have never had gobo served this overcooked since I first went to an okazu-ya establishment back in 1967! Funny, this two (2) star rating can be improved to a four (4) star rating *IF* they just correct by improving on their deep-frying cooking process *and* put flavoring into their items with quality control! Someone in the kitchen staff needs to taste all their products to ensure a good product goes out to the customers. Seeing it 'from the other side', one would assume the cook(s) were late to wake up, late to open up and prep and with the rush to prep all their items properly, quality was compromised just so that these items would be ready for the shop's 5 am opening. For now, I cannot recommend you go there for the okazu items even though they were of great value to your pocketbook! I do hope the owner of this place, Sandro C. sees this review and will take action to improve on their okazu food items. Again, this place can generate even more customers, but they need to get their act together on the okazu items side, as all these Yelp reviews say their Shock N Awe breakfasts can't be beaten for value! read more

I haven't been in this place since it was the old okazuya many, many, many years ago and I don't remember the name. I vaguely remember the ono okazuya food and counter being along where window is. Now this place is called Kitchen Delight which used to be across the street where Great Wall is. My mom recommended Kitchen Delight because where else can you get a $2.00 breakfast nowadays? It's very rare lol. Our $2 rice, eggs and bacon satisfied our tummies. We also ordered a roll of their maki sushi ($4), shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura and a couple of canned beverages ($1.50 I think) for the road. Everything tasted good. My Mister ordered their $5 tripe stew. The tripe was cooked well and they were very generous with the rice but the tripe "stew" was more like tripe with tomato sauce but thank goodness it was only $5. We won't be ordering that again. My mom also told us to make sure that we got our receipts because apparently the lady that works the counter accused her of not paying one time and my mom had to go Tita on her lol. Heard about this place yrs ago and today after leaving Wahiawa Botanical Gardens we stumbled upon it by accident...barrio cafe didnt have parking and Dots was closed for lunch so while driving to the shopping center we passed here and decided to stop. Roz and I went at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning and found easy street parking. There was a constant flow of customers and friendly chit chat between them and the owner, Aunty Gladys. We both ordered the famous "Shock and Awe" Breakfast of two eggs, breakfast meat, and two scoops of rice for $1.75. Roz and I got our eggs overeasy with Portuguese sausage... no complaints here! Cannot go wrong! They also have okazuya items and it's really reasonable! I got shrimp tempura, eggplant tempura, sweet potato tempura, and an ume musubi for less than $4.00! What a deal! Old school okazuya is never a bad idea. It takes you back to the times when you were a kid and your parents would pick up some goodies for your lunch bento for your field trip. Ah. #hawaiikinetingz I usually don't eat too much before work, but I was randomly craving longanisa, fried rice, and eggs one day, did a trusty Yelp search, and voila, I ended up at Kitchen Delight for the first time in years. Like the old location where Great Wall Chinese restaurant is, this location on Mango Street next to a laundromat has an old school kitchen feel. Items range from tempura to nishime, to spam musubis, to chicken, to cone sushi, typical offerings for an okazuya. From what I remember, I'm not too fond of how they do their tempura; the batter is heavier and comes out to a chewy texture (my ideal tempura is light and airy). The signature here is the shock and awe breakfast which is your choice of meat with eggs and rice, but I usually whip up something similar on my off days. But the longanisa, fried rice, and eggs did hit the spot! Would stop here more regularly if I'm feeling the need to step up my pre-work breakfast game a little more. read more

My complaint with the longganisia and long rice is they were just room temperature and sitting in the case, it would have been nice if they would have heated them up at least. Kitchen Delight falls under my category of cheap eats. Their breakfast "shock and all" priced at $1.75 is hard to beat and at an incredible deal. You get your choice of meats ( Portuguese sausage, ham, polish, spam, or luncheon meat), two eggs cooked (scrambled, over easy, or sunny up) and two scoops of rice. If you're hungry you can order a double. One order completely satisfies my breakfast hunger. I haven't tried anything else here beside the breakfast deal. They do have pre cooked okazuya sides behind the counter, which you can order. This location seats more compared to their old. Street parking only and not difficult to find. They re-opened just steps away a few months after, and brought back their shock and awe breakfast for $1.75, you get 2 scoops of rice, 2 eggs, choice of breakfast meat. This is what brought us here, but there must have been about 8-10 people waiting for their breakfast on this Saturday morning, so I decided to get an assortment of okazu, and got noodles, fried chicken, and a rice ball, the total was $3 and some change, very reasonably priced. A hidden gem on a seldom traveled side street. They are home to a great $2.50 breakfast plate (price has gone up $.50, over the past year or so, but you still cant beat it), and a great okazu selection. Everything is delicious, and if you stop by here a little after opening you'll see scores of people grabbing their lunch here. If I'm in the neighborhood before work, this is where you might find me. I recommend making your breakfast plate a double, as regular breakfast plate comes with rice, two eggs, and your choice of meat, and you may be left wanting more. Parking is limited to the street, so you may have to be patient when you come down the street. It is fairly well lit right out front. There is a laundromat just next door that opens at 4 so not at all dark. Again, there is no parking lot. Also important, they are CASH ONLY, so don't forget to grab some before you head in. Let me repeat- One Dollar and Seventy Five Cents. Yeah, the meat is on the thin side but for that price you can easily double the fun and still pay less that $4.00 for two plates- DEAL! We ordered a Portuguese sausage plate and a luncheon meat plate. The Portuguese sausage plate came with 4 thin slices and the over medium eggs were cooked just right. Not overcooked, perfect with the rice. The scrambled eggs were a tad overcooked and came out more popcorn style, broken smaller pieces but still tasty. The luncheon meat was one slice cut into two pieces, not a lot of meat but acceptable for the price. ( For $1.75 a plate, cannot complain, yeah? Yeah!) Both meat portions were fine, shows you that if your trying to cut down on animal protein for breakfast, a smaller portion may satisfy your breakfast meat craving after all. It did for us. They offer Okazuya type items and serve plate lunches too, all at reasonable prices. Will have to try that the next time we are in Wahiawa. I know the majority of the people that come here come specifically for the value offered by the $2.00 breakfast which consists of 2 scoops of rice, choice of meat 2-4 pieces depending and 2 eggs. We arrived at around 10:45am. Surprisingly, there was a bunch of stuff left. Some things looked good, and other things looked dried out and... OLD and crispy dry. Sorry, don't mean to be insulting, but some items looked as if they were sitting there from the day before... bleh! Let's just say, i avoided those things... lol! What I did order was 2 fried chicken $3.00 ea, corned beef hash $1.50, 3 cone sushi $1.00 ea and 3 veggie tempura $1.00 ea. All of these items were good. It reminded me of the way my husband's 99 year old Grandma used to cook. This is a dying art... nothing can beat old school food. I would return here again as prices are reasonable (cash only), and the service is nice. Maybe next time I will try the $2.00 brekkie spec! read more

Before I go to work, I always have a breakfast on the go. Working on this side of the island, I hardly don't know where the good food places are located. Found this place, by previous reviewers about their popular cheap breakfast! Rice, eggs and a choice of meat for $1.75. Can't go wrong with that! :) They also serve many sushi, tempura and musubi's etc for any one who just wanna grab and go. They are located at 25 Mango St. By California Ave. You can't miss it!
