ANIMAL ABUSE !!!!! Saw the dogs in the cage have no water and told the guy working there and said they're on a "fixed schedule." I didn't know drinking had to be scheduled! I might as well take away his water. What a shame

Not really sure how I feel about this place. It's located inside of a mall, and they always have puppies for sale... always! One Halloween we decided to come to the mall for their weekly farmers market but there wasn't any for this week since it was a holiday. Instead we went to the pet store since nothing else was happening to look around. There was 3 little chiweenies on display for $400. My husband thought it was a great deal and a good idea to show me the puppies. There was 2 boys and 1 girl. They were nice to let you hold them if you're interested. Mind you I held my dog for an hour deciding if I wanted her. Great job on patience as I was deciding on this puppy for on hour at the least. I asked if the ears would go up since she's half chihuahua they said no, but they did go up in a month or so. Purchasing a puppy came with a wellness exam right after in Kaneohe. I don't remember getting anything else from them other than that... like a bag of puppy food at least. Anyway, puppies give you a lot of love and joy, but also a lot of heartache. The downfall of buying from a pet store is that you don't know any medical history of the parents and if they had any prior Illness and diseases which most people won't even think about when they're looking at the puppies at the store. Fast forward to the future - my pup has been diagnosed with masses, kidney stones, and diabetes which ended up in the thousands out of pocket.. like think of a value of a cheap Toyota. Although we hit a few bumps in the road with this purchase of ours ... I wouldn't love her any less than I do. Honestly if she went to another family I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be alive today.

I decided to purchase a bunny for my children for Christmas.. Can you believe bunnies are sold out around the island!! I called to get some info the week before. The girl over the phone states i needed to put my name on the bunny list, then on Saturday i would need to wait until the bunnies arrive to choose one. I was lucky to be number 2 on the list this past Saturday. I was able to get my hands on a cute white dwarf bunny. I recommend if your purchasing a bunny to purchase the starter kit as well. It comes with everything!! Thank you so much koolau pets, my children are going to be so happy come Christmas morning.

Came in on 10/09 for my birthday just to look and ended up getting a bunny as a birthday gift; I asked to see the bunnies and the first one i held was jumpy, the second one i held was very calm and relaxed while the third bunny was shaking in my arms, so i went with the 2nd bunny it's been a few days and she's been great! Eating very well lots of Timothy hay with her rabbit mix and getting fresh water every so often. She does poop in her cage as I set it as a litter box with the cage door open and after she's finished she hops right out and starts hopping all over as her "exercise". She loves when I brush her fur, as it makes her fall asleep. She is not only adorable but a smart bunny. I named her Autumn Thank you to the girl who assisted me (not sure of her name but she wears glasses lol with blonde hair?)

Came in to get a puppy for Christmas. When talking to the staff they were super happy to give me all information on the Cocker Spaniel mix I was interested in getting, and let me hold her and spend as much time with her before taking her home. I was able to take her home two days later after her vet appointment. They made sure she was healthy enough to come home, and gave me the record from her vet appointment. Her first visit I took her to upon bringing her home was fully covered, as well as a package of the food she's been eating and a potty pad for the car ride home. Margo is a very healthy, happy and energized puppy who is amazing around people and other animals! Can tell they treated her extremely well there!

Snacks for Duke! He will be a happy puppy!

My daughter, Michelle R and myself decided to go inside here and check out all the cute animals. There were two cute puppies that were already sold but were so adorable. I came in here to grab Duke a couple of snacks. My daughter and I always think of him and we normally like the cute sayings on the snacks. I got one that said "Woof" and "Spoiled" which he is. Lol! The ladies working here were super nice and helpful. I enjoyed checking out the betas and birds here. The puppies were the star of the show. Inside was clean but a little crowded when there are so many people inside. I would come back again if I'm here.

Need stuff for your pets? Try checking this place out. The staff is pretty inattentive but maybe that's because they know a lot of people just come in to look at the pets. And by people I mean me lol. They're located inside Windward Mall near Fun Factory. Anytime I'm on this side of the island at the mall I like to stop by this pet store because their pets are just so cute. Some days they don't have any pets at the front of the store but when they do, they typically have puppies and bunnies. They always have fish toward the back of the store, and birds. I've also seen them have koi fish and Jackson Chameleons.

clown loaches with ich, dead pleco
    Wendy N.

Yikes...I'd heard good things about this store, since it's one of the original pet stores on Oahu. There were two young employees at the register; I got the sense that they don't know a lot about fish, nor did they do the walk of death prior to the store opening. Half the tanks had at least one dead fish; the gourami and clown loach tanks had multiple casualties, and the clowns had very obvious ich, probably from being stressed or too cold. I'd planned to get a bunch of Kuhli loaches because they're the cheapest I've seen, but they also had ich. I'd rather pay more and get my things from people that provide minimal care for their livestock.

Penny Girl bought from Koolau Pet Store

Love coming here with my family. This is where we bought our dog, Penny from about 2yrs ago. They do a great job displaying these pets. When I was searching for our new family member, I came upon 2 dogs (Chihuahua, Papillon, and Tibetan Spaniel mix breeds). I had a hard time choosing between the 2, but the awesome staff there allowed me to spend a little personal time with each of them in their little secret room that they have within the wall shelf across the cashiers. These allowed me to pick out Penny. I remember bringing them home and surprising my kids when they got outta school. Penny ended up growing up to be an amaaaazing dog. She listens, plays fetch (even spitting the tennis ball back at us), catches, pad trained, etc. Looking back, I wished I just bought both dogs because I was told they were sisters, but it's too late now. This pet store is located in the Windward Mall near Panda Express. The staff were helpful, patient, and informational. Not sure if they still do it, but when I bought Penny, it included a discount for any merchandise (or toy??) and 1 free visit to the Haiku veternarian. The prices for these pets are very reasonable.

Worker was cleaning the Jackson chameleon habitat by putting the dirty materials on the BABY birds.

Can you guys get American Pitbull puppies or old English bulldog pupppies?

Shelters are full of pits and pit mixes. Please consider adopting and saving a dog from being euthanized at a shelter.

Where do the puppies come from ? I bought a puppy here a few months ago and my husband forgot to ask where he came from and I would like to know . He bought a chihuahua terrier mix

808 Raw Food is amazing…read more The staff and owner is always so kind. We get bulk deliveries once a month. Sometimes they even throw in a nice sample! It can be hard to find good quality raw food on island. It is also nice to have a convenient way of purchasing raw food. Having the front door delivery option has been life saving. What also amazes me is that their delivery is so speedy. Sometimes I put an order in the night before and I get it the next day! Very reliable.

We're really conflicted in writing this review . . …read more On one hand, we definitely support local businesses. We also love the idea of a raw food diet for our fur baby - which is what brought us to 808 Raw Pet Food to begin with. However . . . Our dog got very sick after our last purchase of raw food: vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, lethargy and weakness (to the point of not being able to stand without assistance). We took her to the vet for a physical exam, blood tests, etc. These results were all normal. The timing (new batch of food) and stomach issues pointed most likely to food poisoning or similar from the raw food. To be clear, we are NOT upset or blaming anyone. We are also NOT discouraging anyone from raw foods. We were well aware of the risks of bacterial contamination, etc. and it was one of the things we considered when making this decision. Unfortunately, we had a very scary and expensive (vet bill) experience with these risks and caution everyone to take these very seriously. Outside of this, the staff were very friendly. They have a good assortment of food and snack offerings. Parking can be challenging - DO NOT bring a large vehicle.
