I love how I was greater when I walked in and she gave me a chance to walk around for a minute then asked me if she could help me with what I needed. It's a small place but they have a lot of stuff without overwhelming you with too many choices. The staff was great a talked to you like you were their friend. Great store! Great selection of products, definitely my go to for all my pet related needs. And a really friendly staff! Serena specifically went really out of her way to be so helpful and was really lovely when we came in to adopt an axolotl! You could tell the wellbeing of the animals is really important to them and it's a priority that (especially the very sensitive) animals go to good homes where they'll be properly taken care of and well loved. Enchanted Lake Pet is one of our favorite pet stores for our fur babies. The owner, Garrick, and his staff are always friendly and helpful. I love supporting locally owned businesses, and it's been great having this one so close to our home. Our dogs love the treats from here! Garrick is super friendly and offers great promotions when you buy multiple of the same product--which is perfect for dogs who can't get enough of their favorite snacks. He also suggests alternative foods and products if a specific brand isn't in stock, and they're happy to special order items they don't typically carry. read more

Got a treat for the girls just before the closed @ 4:30 pm on Sundays. This small, quaint little shop is hidden around the backside of the enchanted lake shopping center. A bit pricy for the quality made in the USA kine of treats but, why skimp when it's for my girls! I grabbed a Pet'n Shape Lamb Jerky thinking it was made in the USA but it's made in China and "Tested for safety in the USA" - Fooled me this time but my girls seem to like it. I'll read my labels closer next time! I prefer to buy local here in Hawaii kine or at least made in the mainland USA! Looks like I'll need to come back again soon so I can check out all their food and pet accessories. Wow talk about beautiful bettas! I got 3 adorable koi betta siblings! Born and bred local. They are the cutest things and super healthy! The nicest most caring pet store assistant helped. She was so awesome and even let me know the kuhli loaches I wanted to buy might be sick so I should pass on them for the day. Awesome store and great quality fish. This is my go-to spot for aquatic plants. While they don't have a huge variety, they always have exactly what I'm looking for. Their prices are REALLY GOOD too! More plants for less than half the price of chain stores. Everything is healthy and grown submersed so no worrying about melt or rotting once you add to your tank. The workers are always so helpful and friendly. My dog had a fun time looking at the fishes too! I also bought a beautiful, healthy koi plakat for an amazing price. I love that I can try a lot of the products in a single quantity vs buying a whole bag, such as chicken feet, cod skin, duck feet, goat eat, etc. I've also discovered pet food that my dog likes and dislikes because they graciously allow you to try sample packets. Best of all is the customer service. You truly feel welcomed and helped. The owner is incredibly genuine, also I must mention his pooch, Richard is darling! They have a loyalty program too. This was my first time checking out this store. The good reviews are deceiving. I was appalled by the maintenance of the animals in this pet store available for sale. Birds- too many birds crammed into small cages. One bird was balding with missing feathers, a sign of stress. Several pigeons were also crammed into a very small rabbit cage- their feet were falling through the holes of the wires at the bottom of the cage- no food and water. No room for them to spread their wings at all. Beta fish- I've never seen so many beta fish sitting in BROWN water with so much fish poop at the bottom of their cups. Beta fish usually look calm, these poor beta fish looked absolutely stressed. I will not be returning to this store, I will not support animals being kept in such poor conditions. I hope the owners see this review and do something about it. read more

This is not my favorite pet store. I was referred here by a neighbor, but I have not been sufficiently impressed to want to recommend it myself. My experience here was that the guy behind the counter was just okay, civil but not friendly, and only slightly helpful. The supplies I bought were not fresh, and the selection was limited. Also of concern was the less-than-clean condition of the premises. There are other places nearby offering fresher, better quality pet supplies and more willing assistance. Last but not least, I always cringe when I see pets for sale in a store since there are so many animals surrendered each week at area shelters. Those wanting a perfectly sweet, loving animal that's been temperament tested, health checked, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and more for a modest fee, stop by your local animal shelter instead of a pet store. But the store is hard to find, I never knew they were there - as you are facing Safeway, go around to the RIGHT, and towards the theater. On the corner nearest the theater. I really like this small fish store, they have a good selection on freshwater fish, not many salt but I don't look for those anyways. The store personnel are kind and attentive to your needs and are ready to help. I been here a few times and they always have great selection on fish. They also have the best prices on discus I've seen thus far on the island. Definitely recommend them and will be back to purchase more freshwater buddies in the future. Thank you guys. read more

Just stopped in to check out their fish selection and what not but I was disappointed. Their only saltwater fish was a kole tang. The other few tanks were empty and disgustingly dirty. The tanks had obviously not been cleaned in over a month. One yank even had over a half dozen dead feather dusters. Their freshwater stock was much better but it was just depressing to see the state of their saltwater tanks. They did have two twelve inch arowanas in what looked like a twenty long tank, which is pretty sad (see photo).The worker didn't acknowledge us but he wasn't rude either just no hello or anything. Just a disappointed experience from a local pet store. There are plenty other stores that would be better to pick up fish. Their other pet supplies were decent but the prices weren't exactly a bargain. If you live close, it would be convenient but not much else. read more

They have a decent selection on products, and I will say the fish we got there 3 years ago, are still swimming. HOWEVER.... 3 years ago I got a dog from them out of pitty. She was a shepherd mix breed in a rabbit cage, she couldnt even stand, had feces all over her cage and no food or water. I was heart broken, came to check on her the next day and she was in the same horrible condition. I paid the $200 to take her home, she cowered in the corner of the cage when the shop worker went to get her. Poor thing. I'm now currently looking for a pet rat, and since I live very close to this shop I decided 3 years later that I would take a peak in hopes they have improved the conditions of their animals there. NOPE! Kittens crawling with fleas, poop all over the cage. Even the rats there are in horrible housing. They have about 4 huge adults rats, 5-10 baby/young rats, and a litter or about 5 new born pink babies, all in one cage.. A cage sized for maybe a few mice! They couldn't even fit on the wheel they threw in there which is just taking up space. They look absolutely depressed :( Don't get me started on all the birds they have crammed in tiny cages. They may be great for fish and supplies, but they shouldn't carry any other live animals if they don't care about their well being. It's truly sickening! read more

I always come here to get fish food for my arowana.....and never dissapointed....always has crickets, feeder comets and pellets. Kailua has at least 1 of everything and this is the 1 pet store. It's just what everyone in Kailua needs to get a few pet supplies and maybe a fish or 2. The kids asked me for a pet, again. I said no to dog, cat, rabbit, unicorn and one even asked for a hippo. Still NO! I finally gave in and said I would let them have fish, again. We previously bought 4 which turned into 25 which dwindled down to 10, 5, then flush. I swore them off for a while as I had to explain to 3 kids under 5 where their little fishy spirits went. Well, they're a little older and I figure somewhat ready to be responsible for lives, tiny as they are. The neighbor is moving and she has those giant Chinese pots that are full of fish. When she told the kids they could have them, well that was it. I couldn't go longer than a week until I gave in to get the tank, food, rocks and 'fishy gymnasium' for the new family members. This place is hidden behind Chevron on Keolu Drive in the Enchanted Lakes part of Kailua. If you turn in by the Water Garden movie theater go all the way down till you have to make a right and it's on your immediate right after you turn. There's a ton of parking nearby but there's not usually a huge crowd there. The owner is the son of the former owner from when they used to be where Starbuck's is. He's quiet but friendly and very knowledgeable about anything pet related. And he's economical too. Well, I dunno if it's just for me. I feel as though we are the marked family that comes in to see the fishes and turtles but never buys anything. Anyway, when I asked him what was the cheapest (me, el cheapo) pump I could find he showed me but then stopped and said, "You know what, since you're buying the plants, try that first. Watch the water levels and see how that goes." In pet store talk that meant that the plant acts as air for the fish and don't spend your last $20 on a pump if your kids are going to kill the fish anyway. I smiled gratefully. I am now on day 4 with these fish, the tank, the plants, a stowaway snail, the rocks and fish food and I haven't seen one floater yet.
