We first rented from this location on our last trip with another group of friends and had a great time. This trip was a no brainer, it was an absolute must to rent from them again! Owner was super friendly and helpful getting us all set up and off we went. Rode up to the North Blow hole and had a great experience making several stops along the way there and way back. On day two, I did experience a bit of a mechanical issue, and stopped by the shop and without any problem, had an exchange with in minutes and off we were again. Tanner and crew kicked ass! We had two days on these 30 MPH 50CC skootz. The lower speed and power allowed for some chill sight seeing. They "asked" that we don't skoot past Marker 38... e.e more adventure than we could have ever imagined. They may not have the most scooters but the ones they do have are trouble free and feel absolutely perfect and safe. Let me start with this: Monica is the BEST and SWEETEST person ever. From our first entrance into the store to our goodbyes, Monica always greeted us with a warm smile, genuine wave, and thoughtful service. She has such a servant heart. TL;DR - do yourself a favor on your trip and go with 808 rides. They also have the best prices we could find in our online research so that's a definite added plus!!! In planning our trip, my husband and I really wanted to ride something other than a car throughout our time in Maui. We knew that the next time we came to Maui would be with our young kids and so we wanted to enjoy the things we probably wouldn't be able to do with them here. We made the reservation for our mopeds & were scheduled to pick them up the morning after we landed at 8am. We arrived at 8am and were warmly greeted by Monica and Joe. After signing the forms & getting our helmets, we went out to the mopeds. Long story short, I crashed twice on the moped - 100% my fault. (My husband did great riding it so it had nothing to do with our training.) Needless to say, we didn't go with the mopeds. The thing I want to highlight about the whole situation is that Monica was extremely understanding, compassionate and caring. I got some bad bruising and road rash and she quickly made sure I was okay, got the first aid kit, and was so nurturing amidst me being shaken up. Joe also was very caring and was able to pass along some timely experiential wisdom. Monica offered us to replace the mopeds with the golf cart. I was hesitant since being scared of getting in/on anything with wheels but it ended up being the coolest and most fun experience ever (obviously my husband drove the whole trip). Driving around in the golf cart (especially with the pouring rain that flooded the streets) made our trip so memorable. Mickey and I had an amazing adventure on our mopeds. We went to the Blow Hole, snorkeling and boarding. We explored the coffee plantation and enjoyed La Haina. The service is amazing. Gill was fabulous when we picked up the mopeds and bringing them back was quick and easy. These aren't the newest or fanciest moped-scooters but they do the job and the experience is great. Decent storage under the seat but bring backpacks too. Service is very friendly. We had the pleasure of meeting Gil and Hunter. Scootering is the best way to explore the area. So fun on the windy roads! We rented a 300cc for my daughter and myself (requires motorcycle license) and a 50cc (max 30 mph) for my wife which does not require a motorcycle license. Made it up to the blowhole and stopped for epic snorkeling at Honolua Bay. Parking is a breeze anywhere. We had such a great time we rented them a second day. There are some issues with the Ka'anapali location for a stand up electric scooter rental: it's too far from Lahaina, Highway 30 is too fast/not great for non-cars, and the range on the scooters will basically get you to Lahaina and back. Using the scooters in Lahaina and around Whaler's Village was fun, but the rest felt like a waste of time and range. read more
