Akamai Mobility made our entire trip possible. My mom has limited mobility and needs a rollator (wheeled walker) to get around safely. We rented a standard one and one of their beach rollators and we used both every single day. It made the trip magical for my mom who could fully participate in almost everything we did. We also rented snorkel gear, beach chairs, a beach cart, and a paddle board. Everything was in excellent condition. And when through my own mistake the paddle board lost some fins, Akamai Moblity had the SUP replaced the very next morning. Communication before our arrival to Maui was very good. I had booked two foldable scooters and a beach walker, and since their website is not very user-friendly, the staff kindly helped me place the order online. One of the scooters was quite rickety, but after I reported it, they brought a replacement the following day. The beach walker, however, was not used because it's poorly designed and practically inoperable--even for someone without a disability. If my disabled companion had tried to use it, she likely would have been injured, as the wheels do not turn and it's extremely difficult to steer. The reason for the poor review is that when I reported we couldn't use the walker, they refused to issue a refund, saying it was no longer in our possession. I actually reported the issue on the last day, while we still had it. The valet had brought it to our room, and we didn't realize how difficult it was to use until then. They offered only a 10% discount, which I found unacceptable. I had even referred someone who asked about our scooters and we saw her on one the following day. They really shouldn't be renting out equipment that isn't safe or usable, especially for people who rely on it for their mobility and safety. read more

Life saver for my family!! When my daughter was a baby and up until about age 6, we rented accessories and a bucket of toys - really helped us pack less on our flight from the mainland. I scheduled for delivery of a mobility scooter on Sunday as I wasn't sure when we would arrive at the resort. We ended up being early so I called and they had a scooter delivered within 30 minutes. Update: despite this, the business continues to email me to present "arguments" ( similar to those in their response) without having their story and communication straight. Their claims are inaccurate. The misinformation that they report all seems to stem from what was reported to them by Jan, their delivery / pick up person, who also met us with a lot of attitude and hung up on us on our way to the airport when she learned we were not going to miss our plane to await her response or to travel to meet her, and didn't agree that she should tack on an added fee. In the end, they should have just arranged pick up at the time of the reservation and charged us the added fee upfront to pick up in Paia and let us relax and enjoy our vacation. Easy peasy. They don't seem to understand their communication technology and that's excusable although didn't communicate well with us or each other and it caused a lot of frustration. Too much time and energy focused on petty defensiveness. Not enough on the priorities. Not the kind of pettiness and disorganization you want to deal with when in paradise. read more

Wish I could give these losers zero stars. The WORST, most incompetent company I have ever worked with. I rented a full size crib, books and toys for my toddler on 9/5/22 for our stay arriving 9/21/22. Then I called the day before to add a couple of standup paddle boards. My initial order was for $105 but the SUPs would increase my order to $200. I explained on the order form that it was an Airbnb and while I had the physical location, I wouldn't be given the unit number or the key code to get in the door till 24 hours before our arrival. They never asked for those details until the day of when I was on an airplane. My baby ended up having the flu during transit so we had a hellish day traveling with a sick baby throwing up everywhere on the way to the airport and we missed our flight that would have landed at 1pm local time. Instead we rerouted to Seattle and then Maui. When I landed in Seattle at around 1:07pm Maui time and turned my phone off airplane mode, I saw a text asking the unit number and I responded promptly but warned that we were specifically told no early check in and that they may have to check if it's ok with management or cleaners if they could drop off the goods. They responded that they figured it out already and that cleaners let them in and approved with management the drop off. That's all well and good but they got it wrong. There are 4 units on the property and instead of simply waiting till I could respond with the unit, they found an open door with cleaners and set it all up. I arrive at almost 10pm on Maui and find there are no items in our rental home. I called and of course no answer at night. I began poking around and saw the items locked inside a neighbors home. Fortunately the house was empty and not rented by other travelers. But when I called my own property manager to get the code I was informed that they don't manage that one. Thankfully a card taped in the window allowed me to call and have to wake up the owners who were able to get me the access code over the phone. By now it's 1:30 am for my sick jetlagged baby her time, and instead of being able to go to bed mommy and daddy are wheeling a crib 40 feet up a driveway and setting it up. She is a sleep trained baby and doesn't sleep well without her own space. I call the next day to demand at least a small refund for the terrible inconvenience and was told flat out that it was my fault that I never gave them a unit number when in fact I did, well before our check in time too. They simply took the liberty of assuming which unit while I was unreachable due to travel. It was almost pathetic how much credit they wanted. She kept saying "we did our job, we delivered the items." I hate having to tell someone how to do their job but if you are in the delivery business, not bringing the items to the right place is a total fail. There is no prize for being close. And the nature of a crib rental is that it doesn't do me any good locked in a stranger's home that me and my baby don't have access to. Duh! I asked for $50 off. I thought $50 off of a $200 order would have been well worth creating a return customer. The woman who answered the phone said she would have to ask and then call me back. She called back 1/2 hr later stating that they no longer wanted to do business with us at all and that they would be picking up all of the rented items. WHAT?! Because I asked to be compensated for a failed delivery? I'm sorry but what?! She said the order would be cancelled and that all of my money would be refunded. Talk about petty. Instead of giving me a reasonable $50 refund. Plus they were stooping so low as to take a sleeping arrangement from a sick baby. She said they would be coming by to gather the items that morning. My child was napping in that crib and I went full mama bear. I explained in some very colorful language that if they showed up at my property and tried to gain entry and touched my kid, I would f*** them up so hard they'd feel it next month. And I meant it. After traveling for 18 hours covered in puke I was in no mood to be tried. They backed off and said they could come the next day if my baby was sleeping. I told them it would be available at 9:30 am. Their driver showed up at 10 and took the items. In the meantime I ordered a crib from a company that was not a total joke. Once home from vacay I tried to call to see when I could expect my money back that I had paid already, which was $105. Only I found that the company had since blocked my number. Hmm? That's not shady at all. I called them from my Google wifi and she claims that my refund was submitted on 9/24. It's been 3 weeks with no refund. Emails not returned. Calls hung up on. Dodgey. I relayed this story to our property manager and his wife was explaining she had heard some similar stories about this company. Apparently they basically stole the business model of a reputable company and then named it practically the same name. read more

Based on what I've seen on other comments, I'm sure the owners are going to try and explain their way out of this, but I feel I at least have to alert people to the scam they are running. I rented a scooter for my 77 year old father while he was in Hawaii. The rental process itself was a mess with the delivery driver being unprofessional and giving me conflicting information than the office did. He actual wanted me to call the office and do his job for him at one point, but I let all that slide. The bigger problem was after the rental was over. They emailed my father and told him that he had damaged the scooter (which he had not in anyway). They said the scooter "was returned so damaged we are not able to use this machine for future use." They then said the part they needed was $600 and that's what they would charge him. As an attorney myself, I know enough about scams like this, but I've never seen someone be dumb enough to say that their machine was total loss over $600. I'm sure they've already rented it out again to try and scam someone else. The worst part is that my father called them to try and see what the problem was and they basically called him a liar. The money isn't a big deal to me personally, and I probably would have just paid it. It's the principle. My father told them that I would likely be disputing the charge and they flat out lied to him by saying they had already called my credit card company to alert them and it would be charged. So not only are they immoral scam artists. They are clearly very dumb. It's almost laughable that any person would believe they could even do that with my financial institution. But I guess they are just trying to take advantage of the elderly less informed population. I can get a signed affidavit from the bell desk at the hotel that the machine was in perfect working condition when my father left it there per the companies instructions. I tried to call and talk to the manager or owner, but they wouldn't connect me and no one has called me back. It's such a shame that there are people like this in society trying to take advantage of the elderly, but I felt it important to let others know. Total scam, completely unethical and just trying to steal some extra bucks. Such a shame. Just an update, I called them back to give them one more chance to rectify this situation and spoke with someone supposedly in charge named Derrick. After him being completely unprofessional and raising his voice he gave me the quote of the century. "I'm a complete fucking fool that doesn't know shit about business". Those are his words not mine. We used Maui Baby Rentals last summer for a pack n play and the communication was horrible. The pack n play wasn't dropped off at the time specified, which resulted in waiting almost 2 hours in our hotel lobby because they kept saying they were "almost there." It also took them a day or two to pick up the pack n play after we left. With that being said, we went with this place this year for a crib and mattress rental. Absolute wonderful experience! The crib and mattress were already waiting in the lobby upon check-in and great communication with Jasmine the entire trip. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Although the rental was on time it didn't work for our needs. We decided to return the rental in the first day. The scooter we rented was fine however it did not fit as described into our vehicle. A scooter will fit in the trunk of a full size car if you have a strong person to load it and 15 minutes to assemble and disassemble it. This was not a possibility for us. We were charged 4 days of rental at $50 a day, plus $25 deliver and pick up. Our total for our intended 9 day rental would have been $360, which is reasonable, however after having the scooter one day we were our refund was $52. The person who answers the phone was not helpful or understanding. I have a broken leg and this was our first time dealing with a scooter, I felt the mobility team could have been more understanding and compassionate. read more

My Father-in-law needed a way to get around the island easier. We could not rent the scooter because he does not have the ability to grip things well after his stroke. I called Maui Mobility Systems and they picked up the phone right away. I asked if they had availability. She asked where I was and was able to dive the wheelchair to us within 30 mins of my call! I was planning to pick it up but they drove the chair to me!! Wow what great customer service!! Pros: 1) They deliver the wheelchair to you! 2) They were fast! Less than 30 mins from my call they delivered the chair. 3) They were very accommodating and helped us choose the right wheelchair for us. Rather than a bulky heavy chair we got the light weight chair which was easy to push and get in and out of the car. 4) They pick up the wheelchair from my hotel!!! Say what?!? We were staying at the Hyatt. I had never used a mobility scooter but decided to try one. Called Maui Mobility and got Pierre. He advised me to rent the Golden Technology Buss Around EX. That scooter changed my life! First the service. It was waiting for me at the Hyatt when we arrived and picked up after our departure. The EX was a dream. Very stable, faster than my wife walks, and handles hills and moderately rough terrain like a Jeep! After leaving, I knew I had to have one and called Pierre to confirm I had the specifics right. He was so helpful and knowledgeable (and patient with me). The company is a great asset to those of us who need a little help getting around. At home, I immediately began a search for one of these. No one had any until Feb 2022 due to the CA Port backup. I found 1 in the US in FL and had it in 5 days, FedEx with no shipping cost. Now I go out with my wife every morning on her 3 mile walk with our dog. Pierre introduced me to the scooter and helped me beyond the service I paid for. I just reserved another from him for 10 day in Feb '22. Use this company, they have nothing but 5 stars only because there are not 10 stars available. If buying from China bothers you, take a breather! Golden Technology is a Vietnamese company. As a Vietnam Vet, I am so pleased to see the country technologically prospering with companies like Golden Technologies and our companies like Maui Mobility recognizing the quality of their products. read more

Maui Mobility has true Aloha spirit. We highly recommend their services and people. "Terri" on Maui, advised us on the proper scooter for our needs, emailed pictures of Golden Lite Rider power chair stats and handled setup and payment online. The contract was signed online, with NO app/program signup required (that's huge in my book). Then on the Big Island (Kona) "John" delivered to our hotel, adjusted for left-handed operation and gave us a brief training on the "operation, care and feeding of our Maui Mobility scooter! ") The power chair was well maintained and worked well, the controls are a bit sensitive but handle well after a bit of practice and unit has amazing torque (went up 12% grade)! The battery lasted all day over paved paths, hard gravel, (avoid soft cinder) and in and out of small shops - Woohoo! It has more comfortable suspension than the scooters we've experienced. Getting it in and out of car was good exercise ") and it just offered us incredible freedom from the manual wheelchair!!!! So many more places we could go and see :-) The real life saver was after our rental was over. John had met us on our schedule and at a convenient location so we could have as much time as possible before leaving. Then, I forgot our phone in the scooter "( (that convenient back seat pocket!) but John went to amazing trouble to help me locate and ship it back - same day from the local UPS store! This was especially critical because it is set up as an emergency line for us. Really great folks, we can't say thank you enough. This is our second time using Maui Mobility System's. We are very pleased with their service and product. When we arrived to register at our resort the scooter was ready and waiting. The scooter was in excellent shape and so easy to take apart and place into the trunk of our car, My husband used it at the mall, swap meet, and all around Kihei...and even took it to a Luau. Maui Mobility made all the difference and saved our vacation! One of our family members was injured two weeks before our long-anticipated trip, and I had many questions as to how our crew might best be able to adapt and which equipment would best fit our needs. Even though there wasn't much advanced notice, Brad and Terri accommodated us with friendly, personalized care and were patient, kind and helpful in ensuring our multiple mobility needs were met. Our rental items were in excellent condition, already charged and delivered to our resort during the weekend so that they were immediately ready for us upon arrival. Additionally, Maui Mobility provided both delivery and pick-up of our items free of charge. Gammie charged us $35 for delivery and another $35 for pick-up of a beach wheelchair not offered elsewhere (since Gammie is not open on weekends, we also had to pay for an additional day in order to have it ready upon arrival, and I had to leave multiple voicemails and emails just to receive communication from Gammie almost a week after my first message attempt). Furthermore, the staff at MMS went above and beyond, offering to help us with an individual situation ON A HOLIDAY. I cannot thank Maui Mobility enough for providing the special aloha of a locally-owned business that is knowledgeable about their items and services and, moreover, available to offer timely and personal interaction with customers. I broke my ankle six days before arriving in Maui for a six day vacation. I thought I could get around on crutches and a knee scooter but it was exhausting and I'm in decent shape. So, I called Maui Mobility Systems on the morning of September 6th and by that AFTERNOON they were at my hotel with three different options for me to get around. I went with an electric scooter (fun). Not only were they life (vacation) savers, they were quick to respond, professional and very friendly.
