I tried to set up some time to meet with her in February since I was in town but we could not align our schedules. During that time I also let her know I had a bridesmaid fall out and the number of heads that needed to be done had changed. I explained that my next time in town would be May and although we were down to the wire, she confirmed May 29th or 30th would be best. I confirmed I'd be in town May 30th and asked the best time to come to the shop. She never responded. Although there were no contracts signed, I was now in a time crunch with 3 weeks left to find someone. I was extremely disappointed. Mainly because I bought a flight and I took time off work based on the information given to me. If she had just said, I can't do the job, it would've saved me so much time and energy. That's all.

I was her first appointment of the morning and the whole appointment was approximately 2.5 hours. I estimated that it would be about 3 hours, so I was pleased that it was less time than that. She did a trim, press and curl for me. I originally wanted to cut my hair short, but Drusill was honest with me about how it would look since it was so thin. I appreciated her honesty and 30 years of experience. Therefore, I decided to trim it, rather than cutting most of it off. In the end, it turned out nice.

SHE LEFT A 2-3 INCH CHUNK ON TOP OF MY HEAD WHEN MY HAIR WAS AROUND SHOULDER LENGTH. THE STYLIST LEFT THE HIGHLIGHT PRODUCT ON MY HAIR FOR ABOUT 45-80 MINUTES. She kept coming back about 3-4 times saying that I need to leave the color product on my hair for another 15-20 minutes each time. I think the stylist probably knew they messed up but did not tell me because they stylized my hair and put product in it after my cut and color which kept the short chunk of my hair down or blended at the time.. For months, when I put my hair down, a chunk of hair would curl and stick up like Alfalfa from the Little Rascals. THIS WAS AN EXPENSIVE LESSON FOR ME. I learned that spending $240 does not guarantee you will like your hair cut and highlights. I learned not to tip after my appointment until I get home and make sure my stylist did not make any mistakes and that I am happy with the services provided. I learned that if I am happy with everything after about a week, then I will go back to the stylist and give them a tip. I learned that I need to speak up immediately if I am not happy with any part of their services. I learned to keep notes on vendors that I am not happy with so that I never go back again ( this was my 2nd time here where I had the same problem of not liking my hair). WHEN I TOLD THE MANAGER I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICES A MONTH AFTER MY APPOINTMENT, she said that I can come in for a free hair conditioning which I declined because why would I want to go back to the salon that messed up my hair. Then the manager said she could not offer any refund because it has been around a month after my appointment. She added that she could not be sure that I was not the one who cut a chunk of hair myself. After this comment, I got extremely angry because their stylist messed up my hair with either leaving the highlighting solution in my hair for too long (around 45-80 minutes) or she accidently cut my hair too short. Either way, they messed up my hair! The manager quickly apologized after I said all of this. MY ADVICE FOR ANYONE PLANNING ON USING THIS SALON OR ANY OTHER SALON IS TO PLEASE LET THE SALON AND THE STYLIST KNOW IMMEDIATELY IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH ANY OF THE SERVICES THEY PROVIDED YOU. I KNOW THIS CAN BE UNCOMFORTABLE FOR YOU BUT IT IS BETTER THAN WHAT TO SPEAK UP THAN TO BE IN MY POSITION. DO NOT TIP IF YOU ARE UNSURE OR UNHAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICES. First go home, wait a week, make sure you are happy with everything, and then go back and tip them. I've lost my fair share of hair trying out other salons but even after moving to the San Francisco area, I still come back to Julia, the owner at Lido, to repair the damage from other stylists. My hairstyle is conservative and uncomplicated but few people seem to know how to feather hair well or to add symmetrical vertical layers or to volumize using cut instead of hair products or blow dryers. At the end of the day, I want a haircut that looks almost as good as salon fresh after a shower and quick brush, and a style that grows out well. So far, Julia has been the only one that can do this for me. Now I only go in 2-3 times a year to trim off dead ends and re-invent the hairstyle. If you're going to visit Julia, give yourself at least an hour, even for a trim. My long hair takes about that much time but I know that Julia spends a lot of care for guys with short hair, too. You can tell her exactly what you want, like I did for my wedding hair and makeup, or let her help you figure out a style which is usually how my regular haircuts go. She keeps herself up-to-date on the latest trends and is always going to hair shows to learn the hottest new thing so even if you need some crazy k-pop hair, she can do it.

I'm grateful for that, but didn't enjoy the over all experience. The issue was the service. The stylist wasn't very friendly with me, but I still tipped well. I also didn't get an apology, just told I only paid for a smoothing treatment. That's not true but even if it was, my hair was obviously still mad frizzy and curly. Also, I recall a smoothing treatment on their website being listed for less than the $300+ dollars I was charged. Needless to say I won't go back. Next time I'll try that new salon that took over their old space on 30th. 8/18/2026 Update: The owner called me and apologized for my experience and acknowledged my dissatisfaction with my initial results. I reiterated my issue wasn't with the first treatment not working because it happens. My issue was with the lack of accountability from the stylist when I showed her my frizzy hair. I also told her the follow-up treatment gave me the results I wanted and I'm happy with them so far.
