Let me tell you, I had a great time at 88Q Korean BBQ! Catching up with a coworker after a long day over some great food really hit the spot. Everything was delicious! The vibes here are super cool, too. The vents over every table really help keep the air fresh, and you don't walk out smelling like you've been sitting next to a grill all night. The grills were also changed pretty often, which I'm sure helps. Lots of neon, bright colors, and just a really cool overall atmosphere. Definitely the coolest-looking KBBQ spot I've been to! What was truly the cherry on top of a perfect evening was the outstanding service from Kristine and Tim. Kristine was super kind and attentive from the start. She asked if it was our first time there (mine was, my coworker's wasn't) and was super patient as we looked over everything. Tim came in later in the evening but was equally as attentive and kind. 88Q, a new name for me but a familiar spot indeed. Little did I know it replaced the Thirsty Cow, but dining here really had me thirsting! We waitlisted with a party of six on a Saturday night, and as expected had to wait nearly 90 minutes. I visited with a party of six, which the tables can comfortably seat, but the meat can't be cooked fast enough. Each table has one grill, and for six, this is quite a bottleneck when you're protein maxing. Our server Hermione was AMAZING in both hospitality and service. She gave us time to decide which menu to have, and after ordering, our high-quality meats were out in literal minutes (?!) Our meats started high quality... normally, they do. And then the quality goes down afterwards. That, or the wait time goes up between orders. At 88Q though, this is not the case. Hermione checked in on us almost every 6-7 minutes to make sure our meats arrived on time. Grill fires are also a common occurrence - who doesn't like a good Instagram Story or video? Of course, while crispy, lightly burnt meat is satisfying, char on the grill is not. Each time there was a fire, Hermione came thru like a speedy ambulance to change that grill. She was so quick with those grill changes that we never had a chance to record that video! Meat after meat, and glass after glass, we enjoyed firing up the grill - er, trying... and enjoying that Sapporo tower. We even had two more glasses just for safety. The steamed eggs were AMAZING; I finished one on my own. They were the best seasoned at AYCE I ever had, not too salty, either! Service? Consistent high. Meat Quality? Consistently high. Hermione was so amazing that we were sad when we got another staff member. They were great, but we were glad when Hermione returned. Note that there is a strict 90 minute time limit with last order ~ 70 minute mark, but the overall dining experience is very enjoyable. The interior decor and vibes were also great. The best kbbq place hands down in the 626. Ever since I tried 88Q a few years ago this is the only kbbq spot I eat it. The restaurant is really clean and designed very modern with large LED lights, a bar, and comfy booth seats. We got set A which is the lowest tier about $40 per person. I found set A to have everything I could ever dream of. The meats, side dishes, and side menu are all so delicious you can tell the chefs put a lot of thought and love into the menu. Tonight the service was so fast, we got our order and food within 10 minutes of being seated. Our server was very attentive of when we needed something as well. Some highlights were: 1. Marinated Beef Belly: seasoned so well and very tender. My favorite protein to get would highly recommend 2. Rice balls: omg the rice balls are topped with seaweed, radish, and mayo and it's soo rich and the perfect pairing with the meat. It's included in the lowest tier menu and scrumptious sub for regular rice. 3. Cinnamon Pineapple with Brown Sugar Soft Serve: I add the grilled cinnamon pineapple to my soft serve and this combo is one of the top flavors in the world. 4. Fish cake and potato side dish: special shoutout to these two side dishes they are my usual favorite and 88Q delivered on them. Sometimes the wait can be long especially on weekends and at night. I would recommend hopping on the waitlist before you arrive. Parking can also be a little tricky when the parking lot gets filled up. read more

I have been wanting to go to 88Q for the longest time. The food was good, but the service made the experience a true 5/5. I can truly say with my heart that SoCal KBBQ really got the Bay Area beat. The waitlist showed 45m originally but we got in within 25ish. The meat quality was solid. I got Set B so I could try the LA galbi, which was made perfectly. I also liked the rib fingers. They were juicy and had good flavor. I'm simple though, so most of the time I just stuck with brisket. Overall, I'd probably give the food itself a 4/5. Nothing was bad by any means, it's solid and cant do wrong compared to other spots in the area. As for the service, our waitress, I think her name was Christine or Kristine? She was so attentive, friendly, professional, and just completely on top of everything. I was having a really crappy day after work and her enthusiasm really cheered me up. It's really the small attention to detail things that stood out. For example, I love rice paper and by the 2nd time I reordered and finished it, she was like, "more rice paper?" with a lil finger gun action. It's little things like this that make a difference and keep customers returning, so I hope the other staff members also have the same enthusiasm next time I'm back. I was constantly being checked on, my grill kept getting replaced, waters refilled, etc. You can tell this definitely isn't her first time working KBBQ. She just knew what she was doing and was always one step ahead. The service she provided was honestly better than what I've received at high end places like COTE in NYC or San Ho Won in SF, where I'm paying way more and you'd expect that level of service. They also have a couple things you don't see at every Korean BBQ place, like Korean chimichurri, mala seasoning, and cuts like flat iron (my fave) and pichana. I really liked the house samjang too. It had a lot of depth and worked well with the meat. Overall, I'd give the food a 4/5, but my waitress's service is what bumped the entire experience up to a 5/5 for me. I would definitely come back if I wanted AYCE, the food was solid. I really wish we had this level of service up in the Bay!! I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. Out of all the AYCE kbbq spots in the area, I really appreciated all the space in their restaurant. From smaller groups to larger groups. I can tell it was very comfy. Ample of parking. But remember this place is very popular, so get there in a timely manner or prepare to go hunting for a spot. The lines are a little tight for mid sized SUVs. Great choices and delicious meats. We were a party of 6 so upon arrival, had to get on a waitlist Sunday night. I suggest coming early to find parking because the parking situation is not the best! The interior was super cute and love the vibes. As for service, some servers were very accommodating replenishing our side dishes and asking questions while some others did not seem like they wanted to be there or help. Everything I've had tried is delicious! I always get Set A, which is $39 for adults and $19 for kids. My favorite meets are the bugolgi and the brisket! I think we've officially found our go-to Korean BBQ spot! We've been to 88Q Korean BBQ multiple times now, and every single time we leave happy. The meats are SO good, the sides are great, and the service is always outstanding. This time Cindy was our server and she was amazing. She was so attentive, friendly, professional, and just completely on top of everything. Honestly, every server we've had here has been incredible. They're constantly checking on you, changing the grills, and making sure you have everything you need or asking if you want to order more meat. The service really makes the experience even better. And the meat... We ordered the LA Galbi, seasoned sirloin (which honestly tastes more like a seasoned short rib to me), premium beef tongue -- and I have to say, this is THE BEST beef tongue I've ever had at Korean BBQ -- prime picanha steak, which is one of my favorites, USDA NY steak, beef rib fingers, and premium pork jowl. The pork jowl is actually the only pork jowl I'll eat! Everything was so flavorful and delicious, but the USDA NY steak was my favorite this time. They also have a couple of things you don't see at every Korean BBQ place, like mala seasoning and chimichurri. I really liked the chimichurri mixed with the brisket sauce because by itself it's a little too herby for me. We also tried the garlic noodles. They have really good flavor, although I thought they were a little on the dry side. I had two drinks this time -- the Sippin' Pretty, which is basically a piña colada, and the Banana Cloud. The Sippin' Pretty was good and pretty much what I expected from a piña colada, but the Banana Cloud was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I would absolutely order that one again! And I can't forget the sides! They're all really good, but our favorites were definitely the fish cake and cucumbers. They also have ice cream for dessert, which is always a nice way to finish everything off. Overall, if you're looking for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ, I really think 88Q is the place to go. The meat is delicious, the variety is great, and the service is consistently amazing. Had a celebratory birthday dinner here with my sister! Joe was our server today, and he was extremely helpful and proactive! He brought us almost everything without us ever having to ask (waters, refills on the rice paper, etc). When I ordered my drink, he noticed it was my birthday while checking my ID and even said happy birthday! How sweet! The meat were very high quality! We only tried the beef brisket, beef belly, and pork belly but they were all fresh and had beautiful marbling All of the kitchen sides were wonderful too! The tofu stew was very spicy and had plenty of tofu (some places barely give one-two pieces). The steamed egg was light and fluffy. The fries were very crispy and not salty, which was perfect! For soju, the Viet coffee was pretty strong! Prices range from $38 for the Set A to $62 for Set C (highest tier that includes seafood). I also love the soups, steamed egg, and the banchan dishes. All the dishes are fresh and delicious! I wanted to try a new kbbq spot so I decided to come here after seeing the diverse variety on their menu. There were different tiers that included better items, with set B being the most enticing for us. I joined the waitlist for a party of 13 & waited around 30-35 minutes before being sat at 7:30PM on a Friday night. Our server promptly greeted us and explained the menu to us. She also took our order right away & the banchan was already set up on the table. They had a good variety, ranging from cucumbers to kimchi to potato salad and even japchae. Our first round was mainly beef brisket & thin pork belly. Both of them were alright, not the best of quality but it was still delicious. The star of the show for me in the second round was their steamed egg. Next, we ordered galbi, beef tongue, & pork jowl. I was not a fan of any of these meats. Then, we tried their flat iron steak which was extremely gamey. By this point, we had almost tried everything & I was not impressed by any of the meats. Our last order was their pichana steak, which happened to be the best and my favorite meat on set B's menu. If we had tried this earlier, I would've only order this and their brisket.
