It seems like a pretty popular skewer spot -- the restaurant was busy even on a weekday night, and there's plenty of parking which made it convenient for meeting up with friends. We ordered a variety of skewers and sides: - Smashed cucumber salad was refreshing and one of my favorites veggie dish - Lamb and Beef skewers were decent and tender - Special pork jowl had a good fatty texture and great flavor. - Grilled eggplant and scallops were decent as well. Some items were more hit-or-miss for me. The signature chicken wings came out dry & overcooked, and the chicken skin was super crispy almost like air-fried chips -- personally I prefer chicken skin freshly grilled with a softer texture. The beef tongue skewers were sliced too thin, and okra were dry. Service was understandable for how busy they were, but it could be hard to flag someone down during peak dinner time. Overall, I'd say the food quality was okay but not the best skewers I've had, especially at around $50 per person for our group. Delicious authentic meat skewers that swirl and twirl in front of you. The waiters are attentive and will help set up the meat skewers for you if you don't understand meat doneness... I unfortunately do not understand meat doneness. It's also a pretty hip environment with k pop playing in the background. The mala and marinated flavors of beef and lamb are all delicious. Prices are not outrageous either. I guess the one down side is, I'm sure your blood pressure gonna shoot up. This is not an everyday meal, more of an indulgent carnal carnivorous dream you have with your homie or mother in my case, while drinking a pitcher of beer. 4/3/26 Brought family back to try after the 3rd day of amusement park fun! Came by at 9pm and Ivan greeted and seated us right away. We ordered a ton of skewers and my boys loved every bite! We ordered Hokkaido scallops, premium beef, chicken cartilage, hearts, gizzards, intestines , shrimp, oysters mixed veggies, garlic and corn cheese! $300 later, my boys already wanted to plan another visit! Second time dining here and overall a good experience both times. The beef skewers were my favorite bbq item, but also had chicken skewers, veggie skewers, fish tofu skewers, okra skewers, crispy pork, scallops, and spicy pickled cucumbers (refreshing and really enjoyed). Also came with complimentary seasoned roasted peanuts, which were delicious and went well with our food. We each had a tray with a couple of dipping sauces as well - not sure what the light brown one was but I did like it. I made reservations for my birthday dinner for 7pm. Received a text message at 6:40pm that my table is almost ready. I arrived at 6:45pm and tried to check into the tablet but it said I can only check in if my entire party is there. Since my party did not arrive, I could not check in. By 7pm, my name dropped off the list and I went in to see what happened. They gave my table to someone else. Restaurants usually give you 10 minute grace period. I did not receive any grace period at all and I was also standing by the door. The staff should go outside to call out names or send a text saying your table is ready instead of just dropping the name and not giving grace period. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes to get a table. Food was delicious and service is okay. I would go back for the food and ambiance but the service part of reservations should be revisited. read more

We've eaten here a few times now and I must say that it's one of the best bbq places to go to with your friends! They're good for all group sizes. Sometimes there is a long wait, 1-2 hour, depending on the day and time, but we've managed. Service has always been great where the servers are attentive with our needs. They are also pretty timely with taking your order, serving your food and grabbing your bill. Food is per entree and not all you can eat! They serve you some crack peanuts that are so addicting as you are ordering the main dishes. We like Chinese BBQ because it often uses dry rubs and spices for seasonings which doesn't overpower the flavor of the meat. We had a family member come to visit us from out of town and we wanted to treat them at Gui's to have a taste of home. We really liked how Gui uses charcoal and you can cook the skewers over the open flame, which is different from how other places do it these days. Everything was class! Just know there will be a wait during prime dinner hours. Luckily there's a Yelp Waitlist The staff is friendly and quick to accommodate. They sometimes help put our skewers on the "grill" when they see that it's empty or take them off when the skewers are cooked. The skewers are excellent! Quality isn't quite up to the best of their competitors, but it's pretty close. And the spicy peanut appetizer, nom. Pricing is very reasonable, and they use tons of real charcoal - you can feel the heat as soon as the server brings the charcoal over. Just remember to waitlist before you arrive, otherwise it can be quite a wait - friends said never more than a hour before, but this visit was over an hour. I went to Gui for dinner during the holidays. One of the initial suggestion was Chubby Skewer, but I figured the line was going to be super long. The best thing about Gui is that they take reservations, so we opted for Gui. I went on a Friday evening, but maybe it was because it was holiday, there were hardly anyone at the restaurant when I initially came in (but it filled up pretty quickly throughout the time that I was there). For the skewers, you can order a la carte. The grill was pretty cool because the skewers automatically turned. I tried various skewers, including lamb and beef. I think my favorite was definitely the beef (just personally because I am not a huge fan of lamb). I ordered a few additional skewers of the beef. Skewers mostly comes out in 4's. There were also non-skewer items that you could order. My favorite was the cucumber salad. Aside from the food, which was pretty good, the price was pretty comparable to other skewer places and the service was very good. I don't usually like writing negative reviews, but this experience honestly felt worth mentioning. I came here with a couple friends on a Friday night around 10pm. The wait for a table wasn't bad at all for three of us, which we appreciated. Unfortunately things went downhill after we were seated. It took about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The table right in front of us appeared to be friends of the manager or staff and they were having drinks together while one of the workers kept going over to their table, largely ignoring us even though we tried to wave her down a few times. Eventually my friend was able to get the attention of another guy who also seemed to manage the place. He acknowledged us but said he was busy and came back about 8 minutes later. When he asked if we were ready to order we told him we had actually been ready for a while, and he seemed a bit annoyed by the response which didn't feel great. Shortly after that, the same table spilled some beer and the female worker ran over with napkins. While rushing past our table the napkins ended up getting thrown onto our table which was pretty awkward. The frustrating part is that the food here is still good and the place used to be a solid spot. But the service this time was honestly pretty poor. We also noticed a few other tables around us looking annoyed while waiting as well.
