    Free ice cream

It was our first time there although we've seen this place open for a while now. Today we gave this palace a shot, an it was such wonderful meal. I definitely like their system = We self serve to fill all the pot with protein, veggies and noodles ourselves, then let the cashiers weigh for the price ($36/kg, roughly $18/lb). Then we mix our own sauce at the sauce station. And then we wait for the waiter to bring the noodle soup that we had given to the cashier. We pay at the end of the meal when we get our free ice cream. I like how easy it is to get the ingredients we want, and get what we put into the pot without questions like other traditional broth shabu, such as "what kind of mushroom is it?" "How thick is my skied beef belly?" But maybe I am a visual person and this helps with my appetite :) Tip: I like that their bathroom had a baby changing station. It's pretty thoughtful of them.

I came for dinner with a big group of friends. Before our entire group arrived they were kind enough to seat us at our table. I love the big variety of ingredients that you can add to your pot. But be careful because it's very easy to go overboard like I did haha. I got the tom yum soup base and it was delicious! There is a sauce bar where you can customize your dipping sauce. If you're looking a drink with your meal I would recommend the jolly tea. It is sweet and kinda reminds of cereal milk. The parking lot has always been a nightmare. It's always packed and busy so be prepared to spend a good amount of time trying to find parking or having to find parking else where.

My visit this time around was not as good as the first time but still enjoyable. Got the same tomato broth but it didn't taste the same and wait time for my order was long. Ice cream was good though! Bathrooms are clean.

Was driving around looking for a place to eat for dinner. Lucky, we found Big Way Hot Pot. Parking here is a little tough. Luckily, we found a spot close to the restaurant. Restaurant is nice and clean. Plenty of tables. After putting our name on the wait list, we were able to get a table within 15 minutes. After we sat down, we were given the bowls and tongs, and were instructed on how the whole process works. Basically, you go to the foods area and add whatever meats, seafoods, veggies, noodles you like to your bowls. Then select your soup base. They weigh it. Then you head back to your table and wait for them to cook it and brought to you. You don't pay at the time of weigh-in, you pay at the end. I must say, there were so many items to choose, you will definitely find something you like. We had two bowls, one with the Signature Mala Broth, and the second one was with the Tom Yum (w/Coconut) Broth. They also have a Sauces station where you can spice up your bowl. I like the Signature Mala Broth. The Tom Yum Broth was a little salty. Overall, we enjoyed it here. At the end they gave us Chocolate Ice-Cream Cones to finish our meals. That was a nice touch to end the evening.

big way is my favorite in terms of customizing and the flavor selection :) i love their tom yum broth and trying out different noodles everytime i go! i love the sauce bar and always enjoy making the best sauce to go with my soup!! it's gotten a little pricy compared to before, so i haven't gone as frequently but i do think about this place often!!

I love the idea of being able to add what you want in your hot pot. Be careful because it's very easy to add way too much. Since things are by weight, it's easy for the cost to be $30-50. I love the chicken broth and this is the only hot pot place my kids are willing to eat at because of the chicken broth. The free soft serve ice cream at the end was a treat. Also, there are shrimp chips that you can ask for and they are so good. Will definitely be coming back.

    birthday hot pot!

I wanted hotpot to celebrate my birthday and my fiancé found this spot right down the street from where we were hiking. It looked like it opened up just a couple months ago, and we were excited to try it out. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious, with wooden and marble accents galore. It was also air conditioned (it was a hot day) and was well-lit. You're greeted by a host that checks you in and walks you to the counter where you grab a tray and pot. From there, you can fill your pot with some of the best variety and highest quality ingredients I've seen at a hot pot place! From lamb, abalone, several types of noodles, to crab, fish maw, and Chinese donuts, there were so many choices! They also have a wonderful selection of broths. I ordered the tom yum (with coconut) broth, my fiancé the collagen bone broth, and our kiddo the miso broth. I forget the exact price, but they weigh your ingredients and you pay per 100 grams. You order any drinks you'd like; they have an extensive drinks menu with some alcoholic selections. We ordered a strawberry matcha fresh milk tea and a brown sugar milk tea (both with boba). Both were great and we would recommend them for order! The cashier gives you a number and you can sit anywhere. There is a sauce bar that is clean and amply supplied, so you can concoct your hotpot sauce while you wait for your hot pot to be cooked and brought to your table. We loved the freshness and quality of our food, along with the free ice cream cone (you will have to ask staff to bring it to you). We brought our leftovers home and enjoyed them again the next day! Can't wait to go back soon!

TLDR; the food is pretty good, there's free ice cream, but the service is pretty poor. The inside tables were really messy when we came in and waited. The servers were slow and didn't communicate well. It took a long time for us to get the bill, and they seemed understaffed. The malatang and sauce bar had a good variety of options. I tried the classic mala broth at a hot spicy level. It was a bit on the oily side but had good flavor overall. Also, they don't give you real spoons here. Only a small plastic one that felt really cheap. Didn't like that at all. The free green tea ice cream was a really nice little sweet treat at the end of the meal though.

One of my most favorite Malatang spots! The restaurant is very clean and a nice hangout spot. At the self-serve bar, the are a lot of options, and meat options varying from beef, pork, and lamb & a lot of seafood options as well! Sauce bar has a lot of condiments and some signage if you'd like to make sauce the way the restaurant recommends. There are also well over 8 different broth choices, ideal for people that are vegetarians or don't eat pork. The service is pretty quick, and they also serve complementary ice cream at the end. I always come here every week.

My friends and I arrived here on a Saturday evening for some early dinner with friends. Initially we weren't expecting much because this was not the first choice that we were going to eat at. It just so happens to be in the area and convenient so we went ahead and chose to give it a try. After this whole experience we were very satisfied with the establishment. This hot pot place is where you pick your favorite veggies, meats, and all sorts of different toppings and they will cook it for you. The price comes out after they weigh your personalized bowl you have created. It's a really cool system they have going on. The employees were super nice and helpful. It was our first time trying this spot so they gave a lot of good recommendations on the type of broths and how spicy to get it. The area was very clean and tidy. They do a good job to upkeep the area.

Another day another Big Way Hot Pot. This place already becomes local spot for hot pot foodie. Even with so many options in this neighborhood. Plenty of choices in the food and broths. Get as many as you want to eat and weight them. The price is in gram. Canadian thing. Now, they change from pay first to be more s sit down restaurant. Pay by the table. Similar to most hot pot places, including their main Canada places. Good large modern dining area.

unfortunately i see myself back here every three weeks. opened up last semester and it felt like a gem!! the malatang signature/orginial doesn't seem to hit for me exactly. it's always missing a flavor. i always add more peanut and chili oil in the end. but the dry pot is always a hit for me!! get hot if you can handle spice. the medium isn't flavorful enough. vibes are great. you get seated pretty quickly and the staff is helpful with requests! please bring back the vanilla/milk ice cream. the chocolate and matcha doesn't hit the same!!

came by again at 12am and it was so busy we didn't get seated until like 12:30. I would say that sometimes their restaurant is understaffed. One of my friends got a taro milk tea boba and it tasted so water down it was actually terrible however this other lady her name is Cici remade it and it tasted so much better. Honestly I think if she wasn't there everything would lowkey chaotic. I noticed she's always making sure customers are okay and ensuring everyone's food is there and even those who are waiting that they would be seated soon. I did give 3 stars not because of service but moreso the food. The food is pretty mid at best so if you come here it's more just to hangout and get something to eat late at night because it closes late. But I wouldn't consider this the best malatang in RH.

The staff helped change out dirty plates often. Everything was clean. They were helpful in explaining the AYCE menu. The only problem I experienced is how slow the virtual menu was to load and long buffers between each click. At one point it stopped working to reorder so the waitress had to do it manually anyway. We got the half tomato (light spice) and half spicy soup (mild) base and both were really good! I might upgrade to med next time. The meat quality was great, esp the 1 wagyu plate per person that comes with AYCE. Surprisingly the fatty beef was so tender as well. Even the mala beef didn't hurt going in...or out. The bellflower veggie is a must try. Never had this crunchy vegetable before. Love the self serve bar with so many desserts and Chinese chips options.
