Edit: lowering this to 3 stars due to the Yelp response from the restaurant. This is the type of generic and lazy response that doesn't really address the issues I stated. In my original review, I wrote I was doubtful I would return, well now I definitely won't be. Where is the commitment to improvement?The person replying clearly does not work at the restaurant and is just part of the corporation. These corporate restaurants have no soul. 5 stars for our server Kevin. 2/3 stars for everything else, but rounding up to a 4 because Kevin was the experience's redeeming quality. This was me and my husband's first time dining here. We came to celebrate his birthday. Our server Kevin was excellent, he was kind and attentive. We told him it was our first time and asked for recommendations. He proceeded to help us order our first round. The food came out quickly and he even helped us cook some of it. The food is okay. It's not bad, however just about everything comes with sauce already which is unusual for Japanese BBQ. I was going to request for some of the meat to not have sauce for the second round, but the opportunity never came. Kevin politely informed us he was going on break and that the manager would take care of us while he was gone. A man with a LV belt (who I assume is the floor manager?) came over to check in quickly and then disappeared the duration of Kevin's break. We ordered the second round and could not find the manager who was supposed to be helping us to tell him that we wanted the meat without sauce. We then waited almost 30 min for the food to come out. Considering the food is raw and you are given a time limit to order, this is extremely disappointing. Kevin returned towards the end of our meal and we let him know about the long wait. He was extremely understanding and gracious. He is an excellent server and really made up for the subpar experience of everything else. Overall, I'm doubtful on returning back and sad that the experience wasn't better for my husband's birthday. The food, wait, and whoever the manager was doesn't really meet the standards for a restaurant of 4.9 stars. Also to the team member replying to all the reviews, don't just say sorry about your experience and that you'll relay it to the team. I've read a lot of the other lower rated reviews that have had similar experiences and you supposedly have been relaying the feedback to the team, but clearly there is a disconnect or maybe the restaurant doesn't actually care because there's no improvement. read more

This was our first time visiting Chubby Cattle in Rowland Height location, and we absolutely loved the ambience! The restaurant has such a fun, modern, and inviting atmosphere that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Our server, Jaquie, was truly the highlight of our visit. We got the Platinum experience, and she took the time to walk us through how everything worked, making sure we felt comfortable and knew what to expect. She also recommended some of their most-loved cuts of meat, which were delicious! Jaquie checked on us frequently, was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I had a fantastic dinner here with my partner for his early birthday!! At the end, they even surprised him with a birthday song, which was so cute and made the dinner extra special. The food is always amazing, and I love coming here. I have the Chubby Pass, so each time we come it's cheaper with the discount. We got the Silver Pass today and had a really good variety of selections. I especially love all the meats and seafood! The service today was okay. Chubby cattle has been on my must try list for a solid year now. I have gone to Wagyu factory in Rancho and my friend always raved about the handrolls here which u found funny because i don't think I've ever seen sushi at a BBQ spot. We stopped here on a Thursday right as they were opening and we had reservations so we were quickly seated. The prices are lowkey wild but it's Wagyu and fresh sushi? Can't really complain... I believe we opted for the gold tier and it was 3 of us. The food gets ordered on an iPad so you don't have to wait on a server (i love places that do the, it cuts down on wait time) and the bar foods like fries, rice, drinks is something you just get up and eat. Personally i don't fill up on the fried foods and aim to just eat meat lol the quality of the meat is great, when you walk in you see all the dry aged meats they have and its nice to see all the different cuts they have. The sushi was surprisingly fresh and we fucked heavily with the yellowtail hand rolls! The carpaccio was also good and honestly all the cuts of meat were quick to cook. On that note the servers do come over and help you cook but nothing crazy where they cook the whole meal so you're still cooking half the time. I will put in one complaint and that is that the bathrooms are legit hell. Why are they so hot? I felt like i was in a sauna fighting for my life and the music is so loud im assuming it's so you're not hearing your stall neighbor blow the bathroom up next to you? Plz add AC to the bathroom it should not be +90 degrees in there! But overall fun experience would come again.. they also have a few arcade games in the front to play while you wait. WOW What can I say that literally 11,000+ other people haven't already said? There are McDonald's in Manhattan that don't have this many reviews. There's a reason this place is consistently hovering near 5 stars with this many reviews. Long-ish wait over a half hour for a party of four. Thankfully this is in a shopping center so you can walk around and spend time exploring DuoDuo Snacks in the same shopping center or hanging out talking with your party. Our server was nice and explained everything, and swung by our table to cook our wagyu meats. Our grill was changed out often. We went hard and chose the Diamond Tier because we needed to eat A5 Wagyu beef. Legitimately, I've never tasted anything as nice as that wagyu beef and it genuinely welled my eyes up with tears. I got so sentimental over how good it was. I looked over at my friend Matthew and he looked shocked, too, when we were tasting/experiencing the wagyu beef. ALWAYS hits the spot "your tummy of course" :) Took a friend to her first Chubby experience on a Wednesday evening. Made reservations of course. Its located in the diamond plaza, parking was easy. When we got to the front door artwork was pretty cool, once we step in everything look like we were in a different world. Arcade on the side, design all over the place had me like "whoa". We don't really go to Chubby Cattle anymore, but our friends chose this spot, so we went along because we didn't want to be rude. It's all-you-can-eat and you get 90 minutes, which honestly is fine and pretty normal for this type of restaurant. You order everything through a touchscreen at your table, and we were told we could place another order every 7 minutes. The problem was that even though we were ordering, it took a really long time for some of the food to actually come out. When you're already limited to 90 minutes and can only order every 7 minutes, slow service really cuts into the experience. By the time we brought it up to our waiter, he told us we should have said something sooner because they're very strict about the 90-minute limit. I thought that response was a little dismissive considering the delay wasn't on our end. They have four different AYCE tiers, and we chose the second-lowest tier, which still had plenty of good options for us. The food quality itself was actually good, and they have a really cool rice dispenser that we liked. The egg tarts for dessert were probably one of my favorite things we had. Overall, our bill came out to around $78 per person. At that price, I just don't think the experience was worth it, especially when you're watching the clock and waiting for food that you've already ordered. If a restaurant is going to be strict about the 90-minute limit, I think they also need to make sure the food comes out quickly enough for customers to actually enjoy those 90 minutes. read more

My family and I arrived on a Saturday (around 11:40AM), and we waited about 12 minutes to be seated. Chubby Cattle BBQ (Rowland Heights) also offers MORE food than just barbecue. There's a wagyu cheeseburger station, fried food area, wagyu curry rice station, juice & milk tea station, ice cream station, sushi, and so much more! It's so delicious! AHH!! We had the Gold Tier Menu ($78 - Original Price, $65 - Member Price). There's also a Senior Discount and Child Discount. Children under 100cm (3' 3") eat free, and children between 100cm and 130cm (4' 3") receive a 50% discount. Our server (Kelly L.) is methodical, charming, professional, and hardworking. Kelly clearly explained the ordering process (touch screen device at table), and Kelly would help cook some of our meats for us without prompting when she was available. Kelly maintained a cheerful and kind demeanor all throughout. (Note: There's a 70 minute limit on ordering food via the app, so I recommend ordering a bunch the moment you sit down.) My husband wants to give this place a 5 but for me its just a 4! Lol. The inside is very cool! I love the cut outs of samurais and various things on the wall. They have to have one of the best aesthetics for decor in a restaurant I've ever seen! The only problem is they're very cramped and their hot foods, sauce station, dessert and ice cream station is very oddly placed and inefficient. Another problem, and I see this as an important one bc it can and WILL deter people from going here, is the ventilation and AC. There is no AC! Or maybe its not working correctly? This makes me feel sorry for the very hardworking servers. This is why this place gets a 4. The bussers, and servers must be dying from heat bc if I WAS and so were my babies in the stroller, they must be miserable! I saw a patron bring a portable fan. The dedication! She must love it here so much she came prepared. Sadly, this made me think heavily whether id be coming back to this location. They have 4 different tiers. The silver tier which comes with A LOT and most of all the meat you could ever want is 58$ and if youre a member its 50$. The next tier is gold at 78$ and 65$ for members. This tier gets you some special dishes like sushi toro and other items like lobster and scallops. You also get a5 wagyu short ribs and lamb. The next tier is diamond tier at 88$ and 75$ for members. This tier comes with everything in gold tier plus striploin, wagyu otoro thick cut meat and special dishes like foie grois nigiri, uni caviar nigiri and a special cut of shoulder clod. For the platinum tier, its 98$ and 85$ with membership. This tier has everything but all the meat is upgraded in quality. This tier is the exact replica of diamond tier but with their meat being top notch. The hot foods was very underwhelming but they had a few great items. The curry (really phenomenal), egg tarts and maybe the burgers when they are fresh. They had sparkling soda, lychee flavor. That was nice. Desserts were scarce and the ice cream machine tasted funky. Now, why this place is totally awesome! They do have one of the best meat quality! Almost all their cuts was fantastic! I loved the finger meat cut, and the steak, and the tongue, and ofc the squid! They had other various things like cartilage chicken which is one of my favorite foods in this whole wide world. They had awesome sushi and carpaccio. Their eel and avocado was delicious! I enjoyed the sushi very much and ate all that i ordered! For me, the stars of this place was the high quality of meat and service! Absolutely wonderful people here and a good time if the AC was working properly! I will definitely think about coming here again but perhaps the vegas location. Ive had a membership for a couple years but never thought to come bc its too far from san diego and Vegas. I haven't been to niku X in over 10 years and I've been to X pot once. Parking around the plaza can be a little hard to find but we always end up finding something so we always come back :). We've been to a few other chubby cattles/wagyu factories. This is our first time here at this location. Here are my thoughts: The space seems larger than all the other ones, friendly service, love the free arcade games while we wait, and the decor is very nice. The meat and sushi quality was amazing. Some cons: We made reservations online a few weeks ahead of time. We weren't seated until 25 minutes later after every single customer was seated and we were the last ones left. So we went to the hostess and asked about our status before she finally seated us. You have to order everything through the tablet. Unlike all the other restaurants that are AYCE buffet style, you need to order 10 items at a time and 7 minutes in between. We felt we waited so long for our items to come out and since there's a timer, we felt we couldn't get much food. There are a few items out for you to grab freely but mostly side dishes. Another small issue was how hot it was inside! Most customers were fanning themselves from the heat. I'm not sure if the a/c was broken on this particular day? However, although we had a few disappointments, our server, Steven L., made our visit pleasant! He was kind from the start and was super helpful! A couple of weeks ago I decided to visit a friend in Long Beach CA, flying out from NorCal (Sacramento airport but I'm from Stockton) and of course mostly the main itinerary was going to surrounding places like no more than an hour away.. to not just sightsee and explore but to drink.. and eat! We had selected platinum.. which included them cooking for us on the spot and some of the meat was Wagyu.. we ordered most of everything from that tier and some a tier lower.. and it was fulfilling actually! This is a timed all you can eat with 7 minute intervals in between orders and we kept our pace; think we had about an hour and a half to satisfy ourselves. One thing, I wouldn't have too much rice - don't think we even had a side of rice at all but at most the rice within the sushi we ate. But we also had a side of vegetables like wrapping lettuce around some of the meat we cooked. I like the sparking lemon and lychee water that they have in cans. Everything is just delicious! Where you sit of course you'll feel the heat from the stove but not too much so position yourself accordingly and our waitress was very helpful and checking up on us. From what I hear, this is one of their flagship/original locations if I'm not mistaken. You'd want to get the app and create sign in if you plan to come to their many locations to get points- though I haven't done that yet and now that I'm back in NorCal.. there actually is one being 45 min to an hour away actually. This is upscale dining and I think IMHO at least this is a two person job so if you plan on going - bring a friend / family member. Now I understand it's the weekend it is crowded so people get tired. I chose the gold menu for the first time in a while after mainly only getting silver, and now I know I should always do the upgrade to silver! The A5 lean meat is included in the gold+ menus, and is soo delicious. I enjoyed the Hokkaido Uni Mentaiko and using it as a topper for my meat, enjoying with kimchi as well for the perfect bite. + Some ongoing favorites for me are the salmon hand rolls and wagyu short plate! The truffle fries are also bomb + ask for the truffle ketchup too! One downside is, I was looking forward to trying the toro nigiri + A5 wagyu toro hand roll for our gold tier special dishes, but they were sold out of both. WOW. that's how i feel about this place LOL. we came to Chubby Cattle for the first time for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint. we made a reservation for 6pm and were sat on time! note though: the parking here SUCKS! it's a whole center so there is a lot of parking, but it does get very busy during peak hours (especially on weekends), and you will be circling for a bit to find some! so just plan accordingly with timing :) we did the gold tier for $75/person, and honestly it gave you everything you needed!! including their hot bar of all the foods!! i can't even remember what they had bc i was just living in the moment and it felt like meat heaven! Finally got to come and have lunch here. My friend has a membership and we got a discount of $8 per person as we purchased the silver tier. The restaurant was definitely not anything I ever imagined. They have a sitting area where you can play games; there is a section just for take-out drinks. The actual seating area for dine in is pretty big and can accommodate any number in size for group dining. Food is ordered through a monitor which is pretty cool; don't have to wait for a server. The quality of meat is top quality. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for," and you definitely do. My favorite was the brisket. Having milk teas as drinks is a nice touch as well. Finally able to try it for the first time. Me and my three kids got the gold membership and we did the annual membership as well. Quality of the meats were mix- some were really tender, some a bit difficult to enjoy even though it was cooked medium. I ordered some of the sushi items and the raw fishes were fresh. So you could order in 7 minutes interval for food ordering. Our fault was, we ordered too little at a time (it was our first time), and the portion came out very little, and it took 7 min to re ordered and even that, took a while to get our next batch of order. I ordered the sukiyaki pot during our second round of ordering, and it came out 6 minutes before our time was done - you only had 70 min seating down time. I observed other tables, they were pro bruh, they ordered what they like in 7 plates, 5 plates, so they got enough for the first round. Our server was awesome, we got seated at 5 pm when the restaurant was just opened (with yelp reservation at 5 pm). Our server was attentive, but after 520 pm ish, he was busy with other tables and we had to struggle asking for the fire to be turned down/ to ask for forks, etc. The unlimited drinks also not as flattering. I just felt that it made us full faster and enjoyed less meat. For above $300 meals, I felt that the glass should be real glass, not disposable cup and would be nice for more desserts variety. My daughter, 11 yrs old, only eating edamame, seaweed, rice and kimchee, so that was a huge waste for the full price meal. So for the price, I thought it was a bit much with the time spent, quality of meat and serving time. Especially for family with little kids. He moved us to a different table. However, the new TV screen ordering system didn't work. The server himself tried, and the manager tried again. The TV screen order system still couldn't work. But our server works the magic and orders the food for us. So, he came by often to check on us and ordered our food and drinks. This made up for the unfortunate TV and stove problems. I love this place, but recently had the worst experience I've had at this place. PROS: meats are high quality, service is quick, plenty of choices, sides and etc to choose from. Price is worth what you get, especially if you're a big eater. **CONS:** Okay... the biggest issue right off the bat was that the AC was broken. It was extremely hot inside--almost sauna-like. The employees looked like they were dying. Most of them were drenched in sweat, and one of them mentioned that the AC had actually been broken all week. That's pretty ridiculous. I'm not sure what kind of situation they're dealing with for the AC to be out that long in a commercial restaurant, but that's awful, especially for the employees who have to work around hot grills all day. We had a party of eight and came in around 4 PM on a Sunday, so it wasn't exactly peak hours and there were other tables open. Despite that, all eight of us were crammed around one table with a single grill. It was pretty cramped and also made it a hassle getting everyone fed. Partway through our meal, a grease fire broke out on the grill. The employees had to dump a bunch of salt and other stuff on it to get the fire out. We ended up having to get up, stand off to the side, and wait while they cleaned everything up before moving us to another table--which was basically the exact same setup as before. If I had known from the beginning that they were going to cram all eight of us around one grill, I honestly would've just asked to split our group in half and use two tables. It would've been much more comfortable and probably made the whole experience easier. I didn't want to give the employees a hard time about any of it because they already looked like they were having a rough enough day working in that heat. Then, after everything that happened, having an obligatory **18% large-party fee** added to the bill just added insult to injury. I understand that automatic gratuity or service fees for larger parties are common, and normally I wouldn't have an issue with it. But considering we were packed around one grill, had to interrupt our meal because of a grease fire, stand around while everything was cleaned up, move tables, and spend the entire meal in a restaurant with no working AC, seeing that additional 18% at the end definitely didn't leave a great impression. None of this was something I really wanted to take out on the employees because they seemed to be doing their best under some pretty miserable working conditions. My frustration is more with how the restaurant was being operated and how our party was accommodated. read more

Dropped in early when they opened at 11:30, saved myself the never ending queue for a table. Even then, there was about 6 tables before I even got to sit. Our server was fresh for the day and helped us with some of our meats to avoid overcooking some delicate cuts, which is always welcomed. Lot of options to pick from and everything came out relatively quickly. Although we didnt have issues with most of the stuff that came, we do recommend against ordering the lobster roll and bibimbap. Those two werent the smartest items to get in a bbq place hahah. Anyway, we couldn't stop eating and our 90mins were up before we knew it. Don't forget to use the special salt! I was also confused about the Chubby membership and he explained everything in details and was a pleasure to speak to. The Wagyu tastes really fresh here.
