What a scam venue!!! First: we emailed the venue three weeks ahead because we have a special needs adult coming with us and we need to find out if general admission had seating(which he absolutely needed) the venu ignored our calls and emails. Second, the ladies scanning tickets were apologizing and telling us to get everyone on line FAST bc they oversold tickets and lost control of the sales. We were told only 50 people were being let in bc they let 250 Into this tiny space. Once we get inside, security saw our general admission ticket and told us we should leave because they are at capacity and we will not be capable of seeing the show. (Mind you we arrived an hour before the show was starting and had early admission). Stay far far away!!!! read more

Had a great time during their Monday night Grateful Dead session. The band was incredible. I had to keep looking around and realized I'm in Patchogue and everyone was having such a great time. There were a few vendors selling their wears, but more importantly, the music just never stopped. The surrounding ambience is like nothing else. You're in the middle of a town in their backyard basically just listening to great music, amazing musicians, and having fun. People were ordering food from the local truck that was there and everyone was having fun. read more

Nice music venue! My boyfriend and I came here recently to listen and see some music/concert. It was very packed! I highly recommend getting VIP so you can have a table and be all scrunched up with everyone else. Drinks were good, and they have a nice variety. There's also food available. Plenty of free parking in the lot behind the building. You can see the artists coming in and out with their gear from the lot. First time here and purchased VIP tickets to see the Killer Dwarfs 40th anniversary tour. $27 per very reasonable, but not quite sure just what we paid for. Everyone inside had access to everywhere except one back seating area that opens up when the capacity is larger. Lesson learned. Just go GA. The security guy working the door was super cool and very informative. Sadly, the girls checking us in was miserable and rude, unable to answer anything about the space. Sound was very good. Loud too. A great space out back to sit and they were selling empanadas that were quite good (Buffalo chicken). Safe area and lots going on around town. Keep in mind, most places to eat close by 9 on Sundays. I'd gladly catch another show here when another act of interest comes to my attention. read more

Not all establishments have clever names. Sometimes all you need is a street and a number (A.K.A. address). So when you wonder where 89 North got theirs from, well, you can figure it out pretty quick. Move beyond that, and you'll find a nice little music hall worthy of checking out. This past Saturday, a few buddies and I closed out our night with a little cover band music, compliments of 89 North. Location-wise (if you're directionally challenged), it's right off Main St. in Patchogue and makes for easy access after a meal in said town. Think of it like going to the Paramount in Huntington...well, it's not as good as that. But don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my night at 89N as it's smaller than the Paramount and offers a more intimate concert experience. Tables and high tops give you access to seating and there's enough standing room to get up close and personal with the live tunes. Need a drink? Well of course there's a bar, decent in length and respectable in beer selection (Harpoon Winter Warmer, thanks). There's also a "food bar" complete with fried options that'll help kick any tiny munchie you might have during the show. We were pleasantly stuffed from dinner so maybe next time on that. Musically, the audio was great and you can see the stage from almost anywhere in the place. As for the show itself, although some of the bands were a little...meh (I'm talking to you, New Divide!), for the price ($11), it was totally worth it. Overall, 89 North is a nice venue to spend a night at, especially if you just like to listen to music. You might not see any big time acts pass through 89's doors, but that shouldn't stop you from visiting. Just remember the name, and you'll easily find yourself here. read more

I hate giving this place a bad review because the music is great but the management and security are not and make it a dangerous place to be. i went tonight with a few girl friends and there was a man who was antagonizing us. After approaching security and the managers, they assured us they'd take care of it, only to allow him to stay. We tried to continue the conversations with them to let them know the extent of uncomfortability and threat that he put on us and they refused to listen telling us to "not tell them how to do their job". Such a disappointing and honestly scary experience. read more

Every time I come and check out a live reggae extravaganza, I'm going to do it here. What a terrific venue for live music. Plenty of room to sit, dance, hang and drink, or just stretch out and be yourself. This 3-band event rocked, even on an early Sunday night. Awesome local venue! Its located a few blocks from Main Street Patchogue, which allowed for fairly easy parking, but was also close enough so you could see Main Street from the front. The venue itself was relatively small but ended up being the perfect size for an intimate show. I'm not sure of most of the shows that happen here, but mine was 21+, so everyone was ID'd at the door by security, and the staff was there to collect the money for the show, which was incredibly reasonably priced. The drinks are also fairly priced, I got a rum and coke for $9, which I'd consider fair for this kind of venue, some concert venues can really rip you off. The bartenders moved incredibly quick and kept the "line" moving. The sound for the show was clear, I saw the Warped Tour cover band here, and even those songs were clear, albeit loud. They do offer earplugs for a small charge if that is something you'd be interested in. There are also seats and tables in the back and they offer a couple of appetizer-y things if you're hungry. The types of shows the offer here seem to be hit or miss for me, but if you find a show you might enjoy that runs through here, it is a nice, comfortable venue to watch a show, but definitely don't expect to hear anything the people around you say, as it can run kind of loud. read more

So, this was my first time and I was with some friends celebrating one of their birthdays. Let me tell you about my arrival. I have a friend who works here and they told me that they could put me on a list to get in. When I went to door to tell the security my name and the list I was on, he was off the bat disgustingly rude, not helpful and had a MAJOR ATTITUDE PROBLEM. When I told him that my friend who works here told me about this list he replied " You're not on the owners list". He then shrugged his shoulders gave me a nasty stare as if I wouldn't give him attitude back. Eventually my friend settled the issue and overall we had a blast. Drinks were good and music was great! I'm not sure if I'd go again just because of that awful start and the drinks are pretty pricey. To the security guard JOHN maybe you should learn some manners. Just saw a charge on my debit card of $14 for a Jack Honey 'neat' I had this past Saturday (which I forgot to settle the night of, who never did that before)? But, and along with that... as I initial walked up to place, the security was chocking a rowdy male patron, puddles of spilled 'spirits' all over floors throughout the night, and a tribute band who's older singer looked like he was going to 'keel over'?... The food is edible. Don't come for the food. The live music is amazing. We came to see Mambo Loco and Selena. Mambo Loco was truly authentic and old school. The sound was great. No issues. Had the crowd completely entertained. People were dancing and having a great time. The tribute to Selena was just ok. I had very high expectations and they definitely were not met. Sound was great as well as the entertainment but songs being sung were not top hits. Service was great and attentive. Overall good time read more

Like the idea of a music hall/bar. The layout is perfect. One half you got the stage, a big space for people, and a raised floor in the back with tables. The other half you've got probably the longest bar I have ever seen at one of these joints. Clean, new, good layout, live music. Why only a 3? Cover band. Endless amounts of cover bands. I understand this is Patchogue, not exactly an original music hotbed. And the people around here love to drink and sing along to songs they know. Who doesn't like that? Sure it's mindless fun, but at the same time I would rather see some interesting music. Not see a bunch of washed up late 30s early 40s guys still think they are going places singing "Evenflow". Only good things to report about 89 North. My husband's band has played here three times so far. It's clean, the staff are nice, especially for their line of work, which is mostly managing disorderly intoxicates. The bathrooms are also clean, wow! This can't be a Long Island club, right? The drinks are what you would expect. $6 for draft in a plastic cup. They have pizza slices available if you really need to eat something now and can't or won't leave. Outdoor smoking & drinking area is nice in the summer time. If there is a band playing you want to see, definitely check out 89 North. read more

Last night was my first time to this place and I have to say that I really dug it. There was plenty of room to shakedown to the music, great beers on tap and very friendly staff. It's better to listen to the music by the stage as opposed to the bar, where I thought the sound was a bit muffled. Good crowd, although I was there to see a Grateful Dead cover band, so you get a colorful cast of characters. After 1 am some of the younger crowd started coming in and I don't think they knew what they were getting themselves in to. Plus, they looked like troublemakers so I was outta there. One thing that kind of grinded my gears was that the bartenders didn't buy back. If a customer is putting 8 back, I'd think the place would buy at least 2 of those. Drinking customer+a couple of buy backs=more tips. I think that's math we could all understand. read more

Was here a few months back to check out a friends band. It was our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. There was plenty of seating. Venue & bathrooms were very clean. Older more mature crowd the night we were there but I'm sure that varies depending on the band & their following. Looking forward to coming back to check out another band soon. read more

I've gone here a few times now. Its a one of a kind place in Suffolk county. The music has been different and very entertaining each time. Its very spacious and can accommodate a large crowd without feeling "too" crowded. The bartenders are very friendly and attentive. Its not overpriced like many other places. Really great new venue! They feature some of the best local (and well known) music! Reminds me of a much better version of the now defunct crazy donkey. It is a large space, and the acoustics are great! I also love that I run into friends whenever I go there. Not only do they feature great music, but great art as well. They are currently featuring the works of well known LI master artist, Michael Krazowitzs. Beer is reasonably priced as well. In fact, i would say the whole venue is kind of a steal! Great sound in this place. There is a cover charge on some nights, but there are good beer specials. There are a wide range of cover bands playing here from Green Day to reggae. Most of the bands are skilled, not like the other bars in Patchogue that hire garage band novices. Pizza available on Friday nights for $3 and an outside area to hang out with drinks and whatever else you please. read more

I went there on Halloween night and they had a good line up of a variety of music for a weekday. One local band that played, VIA, was incredible, original music, their sound is unlike anything I've heard and actually gave me goosebumps. I just wish they had a later time slot so more of my friends got to hear them. So this place is really good for discovering new music which is a lost art with so many cover bands these days. the sound quality is great with the acoustics. The only downsides I encountered were a lack of available bartenders and no food. The outside area on the side was a nice way to sneak out for a smoke while not alienating my nonsmoking friends and not having to deal with coming in and out the front. The seasonal cider they have.
