We arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday evening and it was a small intimate crowd, which was fantastic because we got to sing our songs. Nonetheless, I appreciate the experience. Cocktails and light bites were tasty. Didn't feel pushed to get any more than we ordered. The restaurant had a wonderfully lively yet intimate energy, with most tables filled by patrons celebrating and catching up. A live pianist filled the room with a soft, beautiful soundtrack that really tied the whole evening together. We shared several items from the menu. Here is how they stacked up: House Rolls and Butter: Crab & Maitake Croustade: Half Dozen Oysters: Moules Frites: Brown Butter Scallops Chicken Breast w/ Mushroom Puree: Branzino: I would recommend the House Rolls, Brown Butter Scallops, Crab & Mai take Croustade, and Moules Frites. The Hors d'oeuvres were especially unique and delicious, but the Brown Butter Scallops were by far my favorite.

I noticed another party of two sitting in one of the rounded corner booths. Later, another couple was seated in the other rounded booth, but they eventually asked to be moved to a regular table when a third person joined them. Meanwhile, we stayed at our tiny table despite having a reservation. It was a little annoying, but I wasn't in the mood to make an issue of it. I had been really looking forward to this meal, but unfortunately I was disappointed course after course. We started with the Moules Frites, which ended up being the best thing I ate all night, and ironically, it wasn't even my order. My husband ordered it. I was most excited for the crab & Maitake Croustade, but if you had served it to me without telling me what it was, I would have guessed it was tuna salad. The crab didn't taste particularly fresh, and I couldn't find any trace of the maitake mushrooms. I couldn't see them, and I certainly couldn't taste them. We also ordered the steak tartare. The quality of the beef was good, but it was overwhelmed by acidity. If I had closed my eyes, I wouldn't have known I was eating steak tartare. And that's saying something because I actually love acidic food and tend to prefer more lemon and vinegar than most people. Next came the entrée-sized gnocchi. It was just okay. The gnocchi had a decent texture, though they weren't the light, pillowy bites I was hoping for. Unfortunately, the dish was buried under so much pesto that I couldn't taste much else. The portion was also surprisingly small, too small to feel like an entrée, in my opinion. For our mains, we ordered the Steelhead trout and the Hudson Valley duck. The trout was cooked beautifully with perfectly crisp skin, but again, it didn't taste as fresh as I expected. That's something I'd be more willing to overlook at an average neighborhood restaurant, not at one with Brass's reputation and price point. The sauce with the roe was delicious, but I didn't understand the braised cabbage alongside it. It didn't seem to complement the fish. The duck was another disappointment. The skin was floppy instead of crisp, and part of the sauce had already dried onto the plate by the time it reached the table. The sauce itself, however, was excellent and ended up being the highlight of the dish. I also didn't understand the grilled romaine. It tasted fine, I like romaine, but it felt like an oddly inexpensive vegetable to pair with such an expensive entrée. By the time we finished our mains, there was no point in asking for the dessert menu. We were ready to leave and get dessert somewhere else. Overall, it was a disappointing meal. The one bright spot was our server, who was friendly, attentive, and exactly what you'd hope for at an upscale restaurant. Great service, unfortunately, wasn't enough to make up for the food.

Depending on how long guests stay sometimes those seats are available as a first come first served so we were lucky. Our server was great and she explained the menu. I opted for the chefs menu which did not disappoint. Every course was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. It was fun to try everything including their starter course of three items. The oyster miso was quite a stand out for me. All of the fish prepared was delicate and lovely. The Parker rolls were soft and a nice complement. My friend who is less adventurous with seafood opted for their shrimp tempera roll, which was as good as you could make a shrimp tempera roll. Well prepared as well as their charcuterie board which we could not finish after everything. It was a memorable night I won't forget with nice entertainment and great staff. It's a low key establishment from the outside but once you are in it feels a lot more trendy. The stage is right in the front and all the tables can get a good view of the stage. The music can be loud at times and the ambience is more on the dimly lit side but still a great spot. The service was great, and the drink selection was cool too. I would definitely pick from the selection of speciality cocktails. I got the smoked old fashioned (or similar) and that was potent, Smokey and delicious. We also got a few bites to eat. Other than the tuna tartare (didn't feel fresh) everything we got was nice - nigiri combo, kimchi fried rice, kings toast.... Nice drinks, nice atmosphere, good food and great service!!

Between the live pianist, dimly lit space, and cozy atmosphere, it's a nice little escape from the busy streets of NYC. We started with their Tiny TINI Hour, ordering the Espresso Martini and the Keys & Blossoms cocktail alongside the K-POP Fries. The Espresso Martini easily made its way into my Top 5 Fav Espresso Martinis, while the Keys & Blossoms was light, slightly sweet, and incredibly refreshing. The K-pop Fries were truly an experience with the fresh cut kimchi, chili mayo, cheese, cilantro, and scallions, every bite making you crave more. For dinner, we both ordered the Bar Steak served with crispy potatoes and an incredible Argentinian chimichurri that tied the whole dish together. I love any form of potatoes but there's just something about whole potatoes and steak that hit differently for me. Of course, I couldn't leave without trying the Bodega Cat cocktail, served in an iconic New York blue coffee cup. It reminded me of a coconut espresso drink and was such a fun touch for the night. We also had the Whole 'Nother Sonata, which was just as delicious. We were way too full for dessert, but I love a perfect excuse to come back. Whether it's date night, girls' night, or you're just looking for a cozy cocktail spot with live music, So & So's deserves a spot on your list.

Lobster rolls were petite but mighty good, shiso leaf in the cucumber salad was a nice touch and the bread pudding was to die for. I could barely finish the food altogether the portions were very generous. My friend had steak and I definitely took a few pieces as well. Tucked into a very cool art deco hotel, the Rum House is a tiny little oasis amidst the insanity of Times Square. There was a guy at the door asking about reservations. We did not have one, but we were admitted regardless, and a friendly server / hostess informed us of the 2 drink minimum and seated us right near where the musicians were set up. The drink menu is a ode to rum. All kinds of rum; spiced, dark, overproof, high end. Most of the cocktails are tiki cocktails, but do not be turned off if you don't like sweet drinks! It's a myth that tiki cocktails are all sickly sweet. A properly crafted tiki drink will be a great balance between alcohol, sugar, mint and acid. These drinks were properly crafted! I honestly cannot remember what Larry and I ordered but all four of our drinks were delightful! You really can't go wrong with any of their rum cocktails. We were with Larry's brother, who is not much of a drinker. He ordered a whisky sour made with Crown Royal. The whisky sour was a surprising standout! The sour mix is house made (of course), which elevates this drink from an overly sweet attempt to cover up cheap whisky to a complex beverage that can be savored. The jazz was great - they had 4 musicians (kind of a lot in the small room) who played 2 songs before breaking and returning for another 2 songs, etc, etc. The short sets were welcome as they allowed for conversation between the entertainment. The Rum House is a great stop; don't miss it if you are in the area!

The drinks were STRONG. They are also pricy but the Hot Buttered Rum was part of Happy Hour so that helped. The service was super friendly, knowledgeable and quick. The live music is terrific and so enjoyable to listen to. In addition, the service is outstanding. The bartenders were engaging and friendly and made phenomenal drinks. My favorite was the Whiskey Sour which was perfection. We can't wait to come back on our next trip to NYC!

I went inside and asked the host if she was allowed to come inside with me, she said " yes! From 2pm-9pm she's welcome." We went home got ready and headed right back out. She did explain to us that although the wings were 50 Cents the minimum u can get is 5 or 6. We ordered Bbq wings, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and regular wings. Everything tasted delicious and cooked to perfection. We came out this place looking like we ate a whale lol. They have juice, soda, and water for beverages, as well as alcoholic drinks. If you're ever interested in going, I suggest looking up what dates they have live events because that stage screams " LIVE MUSIC EVENTS."

Luckily, a table reservation for our party of had been made so we were able to go right in. Having just come from dinner, we did not eat any food. Drinks were all that we had. Shortly after arriving, the tables disappeared and it got way more crowded & loud on this Saturday night. It was a fun bar with live music. We did dance albeit very closely together. It was a perfect vibe for our birthday girl!
