Visited 8one8 Brewing during2019 Oktoberfest - the brewery was crowded but fun! The weekend boasted a themed costume contest, wiener racing, stein-holding competition, and seasonal Oktoberfest beers. AMBIANCE (4/5) Located in a street-facing strip mall in Canoga Park in San Fernando Valley, this dog-friendly, mid-sized brewery offers ample seating, a *bunch* of board games, and two dart boards. It's an easy way to while away a weekend afternoon. FOOD/DRINK (4/5) The tasting room had ~15 beers ranging from the good, slightly bitter Matador Red to the smooth Cat in the Hat Stout to IPAs, lagers, pilsners, and ales. Outside, the Munchology food truck hawked giant jumbo pretzels, churros, tater tots, hot dogs, and hummus (orders took ~45 minutes to 1 hour - but the warm pretzel is massive and yummy with queso), while Old Fashioned Burgers cooked up juicy hamburgers (ironically, in a much faster 5-10 minutes). I can't believe I've lived in the Valley for 9 years and this is the first time I've ventured here. I like the vibe of this place and there seems to be a good amount of seating available. They also have an outdoors area in the parking lot for additional seating. They have a lot of beers on tap and you can also purchase them to go in a growler or already canned. Most beers cost about $7. The best part is that their beers are pretty good. There are a couple of restaurants within a block and sometimes there are food trucks parked outside. You can bring food inside to enjoy with your beer. The employees here are super nice very helpful. read more

Good vibes all around. Lots of beer to choose from (all brewed in-house). Tried the Canoga Crush and if you like the light stuff, it's wonderfully refreshing. Super friendly staff. Chill atmosphere plus a great patio. There is a parking lot although it's a bit tight. Plenty of street parking if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. The pièce de résistance? They were awesome enough to pair up with a local trash clean-up organization (itisoverdue.com) to encourage a clean-up/happy hour event every Friday night! If you're interested in participating, it starts at 6pm at the brewery. Afterward, everyone gathers for beers at 15% off, courtesy of 8one8. Overdue is an awesome organization that has removed over 39,000 pounds of trash from our neighborhoods with the help of volunteers. They can always use more hands! Welcoming, craft/industrial spot in the valley ("8one8" says it all)! Always a friendly + sporty crowd. Darts + TVs for games are popular. I slightly obsess over the free peanuts... they get me excited every time :). I love the beer -- as an IPA fanatic, they have 6 on tap! **I'm in selection heaven.** Daniel takes great care of my bf and I every time -- he's the best!! They even have designated food truck "EATS" days and cool social media offerings. Depending on the day, they keep the temp nice + cool, or open up the rolling door to let the sun and elements in. I wonder how this brewery got a five stars rating... Well, maybe it's just me? I'm probably too darn spoiled from all the glitzy, ritzy, ditzy places I've been to. The other breweries I've been to seems a bit more accommodating than this one. No offense, but it felt a bit on the industrial side. Is this how a brewery suppose to feel like? I assume it's all about perspectives. Eight One Eight was just alright in my opinion. But of course it could be awesome and a five star experience for the others. But for me, this place was just an average feeling drinking place. It feels like I'm drinking my miseries away inside my own garage. No music from what I recalled. The tables and chairs reminds me of my drafting class which was fine. And board games, card games, and my favorite Jenga galore. I really think this place really needs an extraordinary facelift to attract spoiled people like me. Not too much energy inside despite people being there. They should have a person talking or explaining to us about the history of this place, and the process of brewing their alcohol. I was impressed by their huge brewery beer filtration tank behind the bar located in the back room. It looks great, but the tank should be more exposed to the customers to make the brewery look more attractive. Anyhow, the beer prices are not expensive. I ordered the sampler which was around $3 each to taste. I ordered five sample beers which was equivalent to about three beers (I think). And a glass of beer was probably $6-$7. I like there light and medium grade beers. Their Matador Red, and the Valley Girl Blonde Ale was my favorite. No dark beers for me please... LoL. Gunbaeee! read more

A couple of my friends and I were out for a long bike ride. We rode past this place and said "what a cool spot" to stop and have some "water". They had the Dodger game on, a cool brewery vibe, taco truck outside and were serving up some Cold beers! I'd reccomend the 818 Valley girl blonde or the Dark ale. We just moved to the area and came across this gem that's walking distance for us! We went for the first time last week for Bingo on Wednesday and had a blast! The beer is good, the bingo was fun, the people were great! The food from next door was sooo good we tried a pizza and fries. A Valley gem. We've come here a couple of times now and both have been pleasant visits. There is plenty of seating, tv and projector to catch a game, bring your own food or buy something from one of food trucks that parks out front. Their beer selection has been the same both times we went. They offer taster pours and of course larger pours. The taster portions are a pretty good pour. Great if you want to give a few a try. My favorite so far have been the Valley Girl Blonde and El Jefe. Really enjoy the service and vibe. read more

Just like with Hand-Brewed beer in near by Chatsworth, I found out about 8one8 Brewing at the LA Beer week fest in 2016. Living in the San Fernando valley I've been waiting for their tasting room to open since then. I got to check them out the day they opened & they did not disappoint. They have some really good beers, there's only five on tap right now with a few barrel aged beers in the brewing process. The tasting room is a decent size, a few TVs, & a dart board to keep you entertained. The brewery is on De Soto just south of Nordhoff a few doors down from that sushi restaurant. I got to chat with the owners while i was here & they're really cool people and they've got the best beer on the west side of the valley. They have taster & pint options while you're here, & 22oz bomber & 64 oz growlers to go. I'm so glad 8one8 opened up in the west valley. A local, and recent beer enthusiast, I was happy to note this place is up the street from my mother's residence. The location is great; it's close to eateries, liquor stores, and an upcoming plaza. The inside is a bit small, but I heard they're expanding soon, so that's a plus. The beer itself is some of the best quality I've had in my recent years of tasting. My favorite is definitely the Matador Red. The staff is welcoming and the vibe is fun and hip. I love the rotating food options; there are different stands and food trucks outside depending on the day of the week. They have some entertainment such as darts, card games, and widescreen TVs. I definitely recommend it to locals and people who are interested in what the West Valley has to offer. :D read more

Honestly, I don't know what I enjoyed more: the friendly owner and staff, the delicious stouts, or all the beautiful dogs in the place that were eating up all the love!! Great place to watch some games and engage in some friendly conversation while drinking tasty beer! Cleanliness / atmosphere 4.5 On busy and peak hours it might take a moment to get someone to clean off a table, it's got a peanut shell on the ground kind of sports bar feel, so I'll allow a little rough edges as it adds to the warmth of this place. Other than that the beer tenders keep a clean bar, rinse and sanitize the glassware properly, etc. bathrooms are in good condition as well. The overall Vibe and atmosphere is energetic at all times of the day. Plenty of Comfortable seating make this place easily a go to. Quality and Flavors: 4.75 My faves are the Double Tropix, an amazing citrusy DIPA that is just light and refreshing, bitter bUt not overpowering. On the lighter side my go to is their El Jefe - a wheat-style beer that is light and also refreshing. They have a ton of other stuff on tap as well Service: 5 Top notch, the beer tenders do their best to take and serve oRders quickly--if you sit up at the bar they spark up good conversation and are well versed in their product's brewing methods. Wow! Lissa G and I had no idea this place was even here! Outstanding beer brewed onsite, made by extremely friendly and passionate people. Honestly, I was so blown away by the family friendly, dog friendly atmosphere, with so many people you could easily chat with I would have said this brewery was likely in Paso Robles, not Canoga Park. On to the important stuff...the beer! ; ) Their ipa's are all vastly different and all I tasted were great. Lissa G also enjoyed both of their stouts. Watch out, because these are not low alcohol content, so they sneak up on you quickly. Parking on the street and around the corner in the neighborhood. My husband and I were driving home from an outing with the kids and decided to stop in Canoga Park to give this brewery a try. I had heard of them before, but this was our first visit. They had seating available both indoors and outside, with a TV set up in both locations for Sunday football. Inside they had a pinball machine, dart boards and a basketball arcade. There was a pretty large selection of beers to choose from, as well as two hard seltzers. The beer tenders were very friendly and allowed us to try a splash of a couple of the beers before ordering. My husband went with their Belgian lager and I chose a hard seltzer flavored with passion orange guava. We also liked their citrus lager. Good beer, great vibes. 8one8 is my absolute favorite brewery! I just love the vibe here, staff is amazingly nice and helpful. I'm not super into craft beer, slowly getting into it, but I've been to quite a few breweries in the SF valley and LA/DTLA, 8one8 still takes the cake for me. I've tried a couple beers, my favorite is the Valley Girl Blonde. So light and yummy! Not only does this place have my new favorite beer (gravity hill) they are so incredibly nice! We were there on Sunday with our pup enjoying some beers at safe distance from others. They make dog treat with their spent grains, my pup LOVES them. I'm super impressed with the integrity of all their employees as I dropped my wallet in the parking lot. Honestly, I didn't expect my cash to be there because people suck. I'm so happy to know there is still good people out there and the money was not touched! I've lived in the valley for 18 years but was super surprised to find a new brewery right in the area. I think this place opened sometime in 2018 and it's awesome! They have a "we're dog friendly if your dog is friendly" policy and were so welcoming, even bringing my dog a rug to lay on and bowl of water so a huge +1 for that! There's a big bucket of peanuts you can scoop when you walk in and there's a good collection of board games too. They have a couple of TVs and were playing college football team the night we came in as well so another +1 for that! We tried a variety of beers with names that have a nice nod to the area like the Valley Girl Blonde and Matador red. The beer is pretty standard, nothing amazing but the ambiance of this place makes it low-key cool and worth a visit. Definitely a welcome addition to the Valley. read more

Manny in the Valley says, "this location is pretty cool and their beer is on point!" There were two food trucks a skip away (tacos and burgers) but they also have a sushi spot adjacent to it, that I wanna try! I brought my own food from Wing Stop and it slapped, but with their beers it made it even better. The vibe was mixed with beer-heads and blue-collar peeps leaving work.
