What a find! My wife and I were spending a night in Danvers so I turned to Yelp to find a nice restaurant. 9 Elm Street was recommended so we decided to give it a try. We are glad we did! Our shared appetizer was the bleu cheese stuffed figs which were a wonderful starter. I had the duck entree and my wife ordered the salmon. Both were excellent! I ordered the rosé' sangria while my wife tried the pineapple martini. Again, they were excellent. The only negative is the fact that we live in southwest New Hampshire. read more

First- I want to say I absolutely loved the service. He was friendly & on top of everything. He was very quick to take our drink orders, brought out perfectly baked fresh bread with butter. The salad came quick. Little wait on the food, but not too bad. For starters I ordered the Caesar salad- Romaine, 9 Elm Caesar Dressing, Croutons, Parmesan. It came so fresh & crisp, I devoured it. For my dinner I had the Bell & Evans Chicken with mash potatoes. Cooked perfectly. So so good. My husband ordered the bolognese. Which tasted really nice too- but the pasta was slightly undercooked. So he was a little disappointed with that. Thus the 4 stars instead of 5. Overall I would definitely go back. There's so many other options on the menu I want to try. It's a perfect little spot for a date night. Or girlfriends getting together to catch up. Just call a day ahead for reservations. They don't open until 5pm, and it's small establishment so they might not have a seat if you don't book something before hand. They are not in tabletop. read more

Early dinner (5:30) for three on a Friday. I would highly suggest a reservation as there are only approximately 10 tables and a small bar. The place fills up quickly. Nicely lit, shaker style tables and chairs-good place for a date night. Simply decorated. The waitress was super attentive and efficient. The food is delish, get the duck it's amazing. The risotto that came with both the duck and swordfish is incredible, rice was perfectly cooked-sometimes people overcook it to mush. The lentils with the salmon was equally as good of a side as the risotto. read more

Absolutely delicious meal. One of the best I've had in a long time. The onion soup was to die for, and the duck breast was one of the best I've had. There was a bacon and gravy risotto which was incredible, and my husband's swordfish steak over risotto was also top tier. The staff was accommodating and polite, and despite the fact that they were out of decaf cappuccino, they went out of their way to make me a decaf coffee with steamed milk in the style of a cappuccino. All in all, I will be visiting this restaurant again. Well worth it. read more

Food was amazing! Wedge for me, Bistro salad for her. We split the Scallop app...the smoked Gouda orzo was the best I have ever had. Filet/mashed for her, Duck/risotto for me...cooked to perfection with fresh veggies on the side. Great Food, slow at seating patrons, need to improve beer list. Seating is not comfortable, the chairs are low. Obvious nothing to do with the quality of the food just the overall experience. I haven't been to 9 Elm since 2020. Was a roller coaster of a night. We'll never know what really happened, nor should it matter, but it does . The service started on a super high note with attentive staff laying out great choices, options and expectations but when 4 out of 5 of our party received our meals the evening took a rapid disappointing descent. While we were clear to the waitress that we didn't want to wait for the duck, she insisted that it would be out soon and apologized for the "chaos in the kitchen". When the duck arrived everyone in our party had completed dinner so we sent the dinner back. The change in our waitress' demeanor was palpable... was she being forced to pay for this kitchen error? This clearly was not in her control but rather than apologize and continue to serve great hospitality she chose to avoid eye contact and move quickly to complete the evening service. The food (4 out of 5 of us were served) was excellent but the service descended into a mysterious unapologetic unannounced feeling of ... ride over, please exit to the right. read more

Very good food, small menu but covers the bases from bolognese to seafood to meat. Excellent salad was $10 and huge. Entree prices range $25 to $45 but at least not mediocre food as I find being served at all the chain restaurants (and really not much higher prices than those chains.) Decent wine and beer list. Easy street parking on a Saturday eve but also noticed a parking lot on same block. The place was bustling from 6-8, then quiet. Service was attentive. No complaints. Went last night after not having been there in years...food and service were amazing! We made reservations just in case, but good thing we did because the place was packed on a Wednesday night. The swordfish special was delicious as well as scallops. Mai tais were delicious and desert did not disappoint either! My wife just kept saying on ride home "that was so good". 9 Elm has some of the tastiest fine dining in Danvers. But let's be real - the food in Danvers is not very good nor are there a lot of fine dining options there. This lets 9 Elm stand out for taste alone. My meal - a Golden Beet salad and Seared Duck with Bacon and Summer Squash Risotto was delicious. But I can't say it was THAT good to be worth the price I paid for it. I'm no stranger to paying high prices for a fine dining experience, but that's not what I got despite the food tasting quite good and having a nice presentation. The menu was really boring overall with nothing unique about it. It has all the basics, and keeps them very... well, basic. The only thing more boring than the menu was the decor here. Which was pretty much nothing but tables and bland walls. No color. No pop. Really just nothing. And what the hell is up with the weird curtain you have to walk in through? I guess it's supposed to give the restaurant an intimate appeal - and it does have that going for it - but instead I was expecting to see the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain as I entered. Bizarre. Worse, upon entering I was asked if I had reservations in such a manner that made me feel like I shouldn't be there without reservations. Like a "you don't have reservations?" shocked type of ask. I also saw the staff ask another couple the same way. Meanwhile, more than half of the tables were empty by the time we left at 6:30 (we arrived about 5:30). I don't doubt the place gets jammed - I tried to go before but couldn't get reservations and the wait was too long - but still. Our waitress was really nice, though. And my wife really enjoyed her cocktail. So I can't say my dinner was bad. But I wouldn't ever go here and drop $75 again for two entrees and two salads when I know I can go elsewhere and get wow factor, unique dishes, and actually leave full. I really don't understand why such a high rating here, but as I said, Danvers has some awful food compared to Beverly, Salem, and other surrounding towns. Huge disappointment. read more
