This is my rating based on the potential that I'm seeing with the redevelopment of this mall. Over…read moretime, this mall has generally been a good spot to gather with a quality set of stores, though there's definitely a lot more competition nearby with good options in all of the surrounding shopping centers that cover all the different varieties of shops and restaurants. With lots of indoor malls closing nearby, this setup has become a bit more of a rarity, and personally I still like having a large spot with furniture to sit down at when I need to rest, a climate controlled area for when it's too hot or cold outside, and lots of fun spots to do seasonal pictures. With Hawthorn 2.0, I'm quite excited for what is to come. It looks like there will be a fresh set of solid anchors like Perry's Steakhouse, AMC, Dave & Busters, Macy's, etc. If this develops similarly to Randhurst, this would be a great spot to gather in Vernon Hills. Even before this is complete however, Hawthorn Mall has retained more quality tenants and has an overall cleaner and more modern look than some of the other indoor malls nearby. With the next closest similar offering being Woodfield Mall, this is still a fairly unique offering.

A lot of stores are gone and they have all these pop up stores. Totally stinks. The mall was…read morecompletely dead for a weekday afternoon. I couldn't believe how many name brand stores are out of the place. Many kiosks that were all closed up and not even open. The good stores all left. There was NOT a good selection of places to shop from, just totally expecting something better for a richer area of Illinois. The Hot Topic store is large and they carried a lot of good things with plenty of stock items, but you could tell they didn't have much merchandise, the store is just that large. The bath and body works is very small and doesn't have everything like other stores. The customer service was good, but man this place is just a ghost town. Higher prices for not the best items either, just not worth the money or drive.

Bad: there are no benches to sit on at the outbound platform, as there are on the inbound side. Good: a ticket seller is present in the morning weekdays, to early afternoon. Bad: they lock the bathroom by early afternoon. Are they afraid I'll steal the paper towels? Good: the station is in the center of town. Within walking distance: a Friday farmer's market, several restaurants, banks with ATMs, a brewpub, grocery/deli, bike shop, post office, city park and public library. A small coffee shop is in the southern part of the station early on weekday mornings. Bad: there isn't anyplace within walking distance to get breakfast on a weekend before 9:00 AM.

I like that it's very close to some restaurants, in case you come early or want to grab a bite before your trip. The only thing wrong with this station is that sometimes the lady who you purchase your ticket from isn't there when the signs say she will be, which can cause issues on the train later (it's a higher fee for purchasing the ticket on the train if the train station is open). For the most part this has never been an issue for me, but you should always try to plan ahead. Other than that, it's a great station, much better than Great Lakes.

Available upon arrival is free valet parking for an easier entrance for those with disabilities. Reservations for carts can be made both online or via phone for one to avoid walking, if necessary, to their destination. Of course, the security and safety of both patients and patrons is wonderful. As for our visit, my father is here for a hearing examination in addition to seeking better quality devices for easier hearing due to sensitivity with his skin. Hearing aides tend to irritate eczema that causes an inflammation; therefore, they suggested a visit to relieve him of discomfort and try something other than daily wear of what he has, presently. The VA is certainly taking care of their service men and women - a friendly reminder that we should do the same. Thanking all those who are helping my soon to be 94-year-old father. He served in the Korean War. I am blessed; therefore, I am thankful in more ways than one.
