After having very upsetting service from Hawkers around the corner and quickly needing another option on a rainy day, 904 Tacos Five point immediately went from a simple alternative to a pleasent surprise. My family and I were greeted and promptly seated the moment we walked in. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, al pastor tacos, and quesatacos de birria which all came out amazing! The quesatacos de birria were extremely good with their consumé and their quesadillas are a must. Plus our server, Anthony, was amazing and attentive which truly turned our day around. There is an indoor bar and outdoor bar with plenty of seating. The food is well priced for the portions we recieved and we even got chips and Salsa as we were seated! This was my first time trying this restaurant out. As is customary at most Mexican/taco joints they brought out a complimentary chips and salsa. My tacos were amazing. I had a pollo asado taco and one birria taco. I felt that the corn tortillas could have been a smidge larger to hold all the insides or even double wrapped to help with the amount of toppings. I loved the extra sauces they brought out to the table, the red one especially had a nice smokey pepper flavor to it and the right amount of spice. i want to preface this by saying i really tried to give this place a chance and i usually try to avoid leaving bad reviews if possible. but this time i just have to. the food was ok, it was not great. and it definitely wasn't worth it for the price that we paid. ($80 for 3 people...). what really did it for me was while we were waiting on the waitress to come pick up our check, there was a HUGE roach crawling next to us near the window. what a turn off. i'm glad i saw it after we ate, or i might have just had to leave right there. we paid a lot of money for this meal, and had leftovers too. but now i feel extremely uncomfortable eating those leftovers; even though i HATE to be wasteful!! if this is what you see outside of the kitchen just take a minute to imagine what might be going on inside of the kitchen. oh and it took our waitress nearly 20 minutes to come collect our check despite us being the only ones inside the restaurant. never again!! taco bell could make food better than what was served here honestly, maybe less health violations too. the waitress was nice and we didn't mention the roach, but i'm sure the other employees in the building definitely heard us talking about it. i added in photos of said roach for proof. read more

The food was excellent! I got the taco de azada. You get 3 of them with option of getting it Mexican style or American style. So I got 2 Mexican and 1 American style. The Mexican style was the better of the 2. I also got the presumida margarita which was delicious. The restaurant was clean on the outside and inside. We chose to sit inside because it was quieter. The food was definitely still 5/5 But the service was somehow even worse than the last time we went. To make a long story short, we still didn't have chips and salsa after ordering drinks and apps and being at the table almost 30 mins. We had 3 or 4 different servers, the second one said he took over our table from the first, then we never saw him again. Waited forever for the bill, and then waited longer for a box despite having asked for the box since we asked for the bill. One of the servers overheard us complaining and really sarcastically said "sorry the service was sooo bad" with a smile when she finally gave us the box? Like okay true... I love the food & 1 frozen house margarita is enough to get you feeling funky but unfortunately I won't be going back for a while. Wanted to share our experience on a group outting. We had just started a bar hopping event with some friends and 904 taco was our first stop. Everything was fine, chips, salsa, one round of margaritas and two appetizers and we were ready to move onto the next location. The bill arrived. We asked if there was any issue in splitting amongst multiple forms of payment and the waiter kindly said no problem. We proceeded to put down $40 in cash and three credit cards for a $75 check. We instructed the server to deduct the cash and then split the rest amongst the cards. The waiter came back and kept our cash and split the bill amongst all three cards, evenly! Gratuity was included in the original bill. They took our cash, then proceeded to add gratuity onto the split bills. I went to ask for the original bill and let the waiter know that he had not followed our instructions He proceeded to have a conversation with a cashier/bartender in Spanish in front of me, which luckily I understood, refused to give us the receipt and refused to bring the manager so we could settle this blatant theft and over charging. Please be aware that 904 taco hires thieves. Watch your bills, protect your dollars, 904 will take your money and then act dumb when you call them out. It wasn't a language barrier it was a blatant refusal to be transparent an obvious ploy to pilfer dollars. We wound up, leaving in order to not cause a scene, but in all we spent as much on the pilfered gratuity as we did on the check. This happened 03/28/24 at 6:42pm, our servers name was Pablito. Went here last night with some girl friends. I had high hopes but was a bit disappointed. We waited much longer than anticipated to be seated, food came out extremely slow, even drinks took a while to come out. I will say Our server was incredibly sweet. While in 5 Points for a movie, I also knew I wanted us to get some of the newest tacos that Jax has to offer. The inside space is on the small side, we didn't go to the outdoor patio but it looks like it might be more spacious. Our server was nice enough, but not overly so. I ordered a strawberry margarita and asked if she could have the bar add a small bit of jalapeno to it. It was large and tasty, while not being really heavy on the tequila. To start there was already chips and salsa brought to us and I ordered the fresh guacamole to try as well. The flavors are ok, not bad ..but they don't really stand out at all either. As an appetizer, Stephen ordered one chicken tamale because he had never had one and wanted to see what it was all about. I think it must have been a food runner, because it was not our server..he brought it out and asked "did you order this?" he was still holding the plate up where we couldn't see it and I asked what it was, to which he replied I don't know...and set it down, walking away. Alrighty then. The tamale was kinda bland and didn't have much filling to it. Next came time for tacos. I orderd one birria taco and one shrimp taco that came with pico de gallo cabbage and what they called their "special sea sauce". The birria...didn't come with any consommé to dip it in. I was saddened by that to begin with, and also the meat was tough and chewy..it was a miss. The shrimp one was good enough but nothing insanely memorable. Listen. This spot has a lot of potential, so this review is a mixed bag for me. Outdoor seating is great! Food tastes authentic! Menu is priced excellent! Greeter/Staff are VERY nice and friendly! Waitress was knowledgeable about ALL the menu items. However, ONLY ONE STAFF MEMBER was wearing a mask.. I said, "ONE!" That staff member was an older woman that was cleaning off the tables. NO.ONE.ELSE.HAD.ON. A.MASK. I tried giving "benefit of the doubt." Since seating was outside, maybe they don't feel the need to wear them. Next, it was a weekend evening and it was very clear that most of the waiters were familiar with one party that was already seated. My waiter was going back and forth between their tables AND "HITTING" THEIR PEN with the other tables. SMOKING in-between tables is NEVER ok. Lastly, The establishment is dog friendly. For Dog Moms and Dads this might be a good spot! However, my server was ALSO HOLDING THE DOGS and then bringing food out to other tables!!!! Nah. If you are looking for a spot where the staff takes their positions very seriously.. this IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. This place is for a crowd thats really just looking for an after-party spot. I've heard and read mixed reviews about 904 Tacos, however being a full, traditional Mexican style restaurant in the heart of Five Points and oh so new, I decided to give this place a try for myself. Located on the corner of Park, Margaret and Lomax, this restaurant is situated in a perfect location for checking out all that Five Points has to offer. I recently went on a Monday with my husband and good friend to try things out. Beautifully decorated on the outside patio, with murals and nods to Mexican culture, Mariachi playing in the background, we found ourselves taken back by the warm, authentic, yet modern, artistic and inviting ambience. The staff is well dressed, friendly and out going. We were quickly greeted with a smile and shown to our seats. We took out seats and ordered drinks. Hubby and I got the Tamarind margarita, a bit sweet, not enough of the tangy flavor I enjoy with Tamarind, nor the sourness that comes standard in a Margarita. Our friend got the Presidente Margarita, also not bad, but tasted heavily of Orange and not quite a traditional Margarita (think Tang, but not bad). The house Margaritas were on point. We ordered appetizers and were quickly told that appetizers come out with the meal "that's just how the kitchen works." While appreciative of the disclaimer, doesn't that defeat the purpose of appetizers? Still, that's just my perspective and so far, this place is ok. We get our chips and salsa; salsa is more agua (water) than chunky, flavorful salsa I'm accustomed to. We ordered the Fresh Guacamole, thinking it would be stone ground and chock full of flavor. Sadly, it was more a pico de Gallo approach to guac: diced tomato, cubed avocado, etc, but not ground into a guacamole.It was chunkier than their salsa and had no cilantro, no salt, no seasoning at all. A bit bland. Again, the chunky take on it would've been amazing, as it's beautifully plated and a wonderful approach, however some seasoning would've made it shine (salt and pepper to taste). The Guacamole dip, which comes as a side in many of their other dishes, had more flavor/seasoning than the fresh guac. One of the small serving plates they provided was chipped on the corner, sharp and jagged, it was unfortunate they didn't use a different plate, any unsuspecting customer could have easily cut themselves on it. Let alone a small child. Having fallen in love with Tortas (Mexican style sandwiches) my hubby and I ordered them. He got the ahogada, I got the carne asada. Our friend ordered the Fajitas. The tortas were more bread than filling, sadly, leaving one wanting more. I've had better tortas from a food truck and at the fraction of the cost. Our friends fajitas came out sizzling hot and smelling amazing! Alright, smells, sounds and looks fantastic! This can be the ultimate redeemer...Unfortunately, he had to wait 10 minutes until his tortillas came out, which when they finally did, they were street taco sized tortillas (smaller than the palm of your hand) and wrapped in foil (not the kitschy tortilla warmers you'd expect). By the time the tiny, tortillas arrived, our friend's fajita skillet was cold (mind you it's been a few cold nights here in North Florida; in the 50s and lower 60s). The waitress was polite and apologetic and so our friend then requested that she exchange them out for a fresh, warm, skillet. She took it back, however, instead of preparing a fresh skillet, they re-cooked it, which naturally over cooked everything, ruining his first impression of what they probably should have tasted like. While the flavor is there, the passion wasn't. It was sadly lackluster for a not so busy Monday night where only the patio was open. I really wanted to be "WOWED" by this place, but it fell short. They can take this place to the next level and really wow Riverside with truly traditional Mexican cuisine if they focus a little more on the attention to detail. I'm rooting for this place to succeed, but a few things truly need to be tweaked. I had to get up and walk to the bar to order our second round of drinks, perhaps fine-tune the already tasty margaritas, tortillas should be kept warm and arrive with, or JUST before sizzling hot food, tortas need to have more filling and appetizers should always come before the meal, not with it at the same time. With all that said, I do plan on going back to give them another shot. After all, everybody has off days, but if you want to succeed in that location, you really need to shine, even on a slow Monday (especially). Overall, I'd say check them out. For starters, it took maybe 20m for someone to take my table order. When someone finally came, no one apologized for the delay. I ordered Buffalo chicken wings(undercooked in the middle) and they gave me ranch out of a packet(I'm used to it being in a saucer/dipper) and my partner ordered fajitas- they were pretty burnt. I brought this to management attention but he only removed the chicken wings. I reiterated that the fajitas were burnt and that we would only pay for the drinks and queso (which was pretty good). Throughout my visit, the staff members were ratchet and using profanity left and right. I get that it is a nightlife environment but being professional while on the clock should be the bare minimum. However, the manager did remove both the fajitas and chicken wings but was very condescending while doing it. If I could, I would give 0 stars. We came here wanting to try something new. Immediately I noticed their menu is a rip off of Anejo. I ordered the Chimichurri taco, my boyfriend order the California burrito with shredded beef and my bestie got the Flautas. The server (she's new) informed my boyfriend she would have to ask the manager if they have shredded beef. Once she returned she told my boyfriend they did not have shredded beef(although it's on the menu for an up charge of $2.50) and that they can do the birria beef for an upcharge of $3.50, we went along with it because we honestly just wanted to try the place out. While waiting for the food we see the customers at the bar get their food and they came after us, meanwhile all of the servers were at one table playing Uno. We get our food, all took bites and immediately looked at each other. My taco was piled with just cabbage minimal churri sauce and the meat was not seasoned! My boyfriend's burrito, the meat inside was cold but the plate was hot. We didn't even bother to mention that my best friends food was dry and not seasoned whatsoever. When mentioning this to the server, that my meat was dry and unseasoned, she tried to explain to me that it's supposed to be like that. When we mention the burrito, we told them we didn't want it to come back. He had already cut his burrito and only took a bite. The server said she would have to speak to the manager. 5-8 minutes later, the serve comes back out with the burrito. It was not freshly made and obviously was stuck back into the warmer as the tortilla around the edges was now burnt and it was still cut from when my boyfriend tried his initial bite. He told the server he didn't want the burrito and it needed to be taken off the tab. She return moments later after to inform us that they won't be refunding the burrito because it was a "custom" burrito. I informed her that my boyfriend is Puerto Rican and we heard what was discussed with the manager. At that point her mouth dropped and all the servers eyes were on us. We asked to speak with the manager. Once he came over he was not apologetic towards the quality of our food and insisted that we will be paying for the burrito; mind you, the server had already taken from our table and discarded it. My best friend mentioned that she is a chef and technically food that has been touched by the customer cannot come back to the kitchen to be reheated. Me being fed up, told that we were going to pay for something we didn't even eat; I told the manager to call the police because I wasn't paying for something I didn't eat and I'll be happy to explain it to the whomever. He then said, "let's be mature here" so I replied with "i am a keyholder, and as a manger when we complained the first time you should've came over to ask how our experience was going. He said "no it wasn't my business". You could imagine my response, what are you being paid for as a manager? When this happens with the next customers, please learn from the experience we shared. Instead of trying to force your customers to pay for something they are dissatisfied with, offer to make them a new meal. We were not even offered that. Let me not even mention how we were slipping and sliding all over the greasy bathroom floor, the only seating was outside, which is super cute. The service was amazing, refills were on point, food was brought out right away, and the server was attentive. I had the California Burrito, it was large, the presentation was nice. The only thing it needed was some queso or sauce on top which would have made it perfect. The food and service were good. The interior was standard for a Mexican restaurant, there was artwork on the walls that were nice, colorful lights, and a few TVs. Probably a decent place to watch sports.
