Called 911 locksmiths to get an estimate on unlocking a security gate that I had lost the key for and see if they could make new keys. I also asked them to make a new key for my front door. I was told that they would come out and look at the doors and give me an estimate for doing the work; if I did not want the work done at that time i could think about it and get with them later. The technician came out and immediately upon arriving said it would cost $75 to just pop open the lock on the security gate and THEN he could see what it would take to make keys for it. I then asked him how much it would cost to make a new key for my front door or to re-key it. He told me that he could not give me an estimate for that until I PAID him the $75 for unlocking the first one on the security gate. WHAT? I thought the estimates were "FREE" - NOT when the want $75 up front for a previous 'estimate' To me this is a classic "bait-and-switch" and it makes me a little leery of all the 5 star reviews for this company. Must have all been 'paid participants!" (Just as a bit of history on my security gate lock, I had another locksmith come out earlier this week and he had the lock opened in less than a minute with pick tools and wanted $20 for that. I did not have cash so went to get my debit card and when I came back, he had pushed the gate shut and locked it and left! not sure why but did see that a locksmith could have opened the lock for as llittle as $20, NOT $75!) Sorry for havinig to post this review but feel this type of business activity needs to be reported. ARE THERE NO HONEST LOCKSMITHS OR OTHER BUSINESSES OUT THERE ANY MORE? THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I would gladly pay for the services to be done if they were fair and honest but no one has been found than offers such a service. If I was being charged $75 per hour, I would gladly pay for these services to be done but NOT $75 for each and every thing they touch. Called to have locks changed on our commercial property. They were able to come out the same day. I asked for a rate over the phone and was told they could not quote until they saw the type of lock. The locksmith arrived on time and quoted a price north of $400. Seemed really high, so after some back and forth he came down to about half of his original quote. We were not in an emergency situation so we were able to negotiate, but I can see where they could really take advantage of someone in an emergency situation. Locks work fine. read more

I've used their services repeatedly over the past year at my house. I first hired them to re-key and on that visit he noticed I was a bit uncomfortable giving a key to the maid service I at the time was using and he suggested a code lock that has made my life much easier for when giving entry to people. I've since brought him back several times to put locks on other doors. I've been most impressed on the committment to making sure I'm happy with the work. One of my locks broke about nine months after he set it and he came back and fixed it free of charge. I would recommed their work to anyone. read more

It's a shame there is not a Zero star rating. I got locked out of my house and had to be at work in and hour and 15 minutes. I had called 3 other places before and they couldn't get there in time. I was crying by the time I called 911 Locksmith. The guy on the phone said he could have someone at my house in 20 minutes. 10 minutes later the locksmith called and said it would be 25-30 minutes. 35 minutes later, I called him back to find out where he was and he gave me attitude about how he couldn't control traffic. ONE HOUR LATER, the guy shows up, with no sense of urgency whatsoever. I swear this guy didn't know what the heck he was doing. He pulled out a lock-picking kit and started messing with the lock. He looked like a guy that had watched a bunch of CSI movies and had decided to buy himself a kit and play with it. After destroying the lock this way, he drilled into it and then broke the lock with a screwdriver. I could've done this myself AND been on time to work. $80 for that? What a racket.
