Prepare to be surprised. Started the night with friends, 6 of us, enjoying perfect Martinis and delicious appetizers. Moved onto dinner, I had the short ribs. These weren't just short ribs with mashed potatoes, they were freaking unbelievable, super tender with a delicious sauce. My friend's dinners were also great (we all try each other's food). Decided on this place for a long overdue date night. While the location is small, seating is cozy and lighting leads for an air of romance. Note this does not mean quiet. We opted for the bread and burrata cheese and then some bacon wrapped dates. The burrata was very flavorful, my husband just loves bread as a side note. The olive oil for the bread could have used some sort of flavor but was overall good. Mains were the porcini ravioli (I took my wife tax) and it was delicious. My main was the braised short ribs with a red wine reduction. This needed some salt but was delicious aside from that. I personally could have gone for more of the butternut squash purée. Terrible bar! "Maria"is the worse bartender ever. Not sure how she keeps her job.. Frank needs to quite hiring inexperienced kids as bartenders and hire some decent adults. After just two drinks Maria determined I was intoxicated---without any validation other than I appeared sleepy. I was forced to walk home over a mile---not by choice--but with another employee from 913 who Maria gave my car keys.. I did not stagger, loose my way, stumble, or fall the entire walk home. I have a disability, which I won't disclose here---all Maria needed to do was communicate her concern and I would have explained my condition. In addition, I have mobility issues which were exasperated taking this unexpected walk home. My back and knees will take days to recover. Unbelievable. I heard 913 had issues with customer service---but "wow" in my opinion "Maria" needs to go back to bartender school (if she even attended) and review the lessons on how to determine if someone is intoxicated. At the very least, the 913 needs to train employees on diversity and inclusion of customers with a wide range of disabilities. Not make assumptions read more

I hate writing this review, because we love 909/913, but last night was extremely disappointing. Our waiter was terrible. We went to celebrate a substantial raise; however, no one greeted us when we arrived, and we waited 10 minutes, before finally seating ourselves at an empty table on the patio. It was another 20 minutes before our waiter (Tyler J) showed himself. He took our drink orders, then disappeared for another half an hour. (FYI, he did not introduce himself, at any time. We got his name off the receipt.) When he returned, with our drinks, he asked if we were ready to order. I said "I have a question." Tyler responded, "I don't have time for questions," and walked away. WTF? No appetizers, I guess. We normally get two--the olives and nuts, and the burrata, and they had a special burrata with truffle oil, which looked quite nice--but Tyler left. He didn't have time... The weird thing was, he wasn't snippy about it. Tyler was *super cheerful* about blowing us off. Surreal. Another half hour passed. Tyler finally came around again. We ordered another beverage each, and I asked my question, about the market fish preparation. Tyler told me it was "wild caught salmon in a fennel vinaigrette, with some other stuff." Literally. Those were his words: "some other stuff." Good thing I wasn't wedded to the fennel vinaigrette, though, because that wasn't the preparation. The salmon came with a seasonal berry compote--blackberries and blueberries, very tasty--and the "other stuff" was roasted corn and wilted spinach. If there was a sliver of fennel, I couldn't tell. We didn't order wine with dinner, because we figured it would be another hour before it arrived, and by then we would be done with our mains. Last but not least, Tyler apparently failed to write down that we wanted a cheese plate, as well as the fruit crisp (which was delicious, by the way), to finish, so it didn't come. When I asked about it, he stared at his pad, and told me he didn't write that down, how did that happen, very curious, what a mystery! And did I still want the cheese plate, it would only take two minutes to put together? No, I did not still want the cheese plate. It might have only taken two minutes to fix, but it would take 30 minutes to get to our table, and by then we had been there for 2 hours, and were completely over it. I drank my port, without tasty cheese; we tipped minimally; and went home. The terrible service soured what should have been a celebration. This is where we come to celebrate everything; we even had our wedding dinner at 909, last November! This is where we bring friends, family, and out of town guests. We come to 909/913 when one of us has had a bad day, and want some pampering. We've spent, literally, thousands of dollars here. We normally tip generously, because we've both worked in the food & hospitality industry, so only tipping 10% last night made my heart hurt. I feel terrible, but I can't reward service so poor that it ruins good food, mars two years of happy memories, and turns a happy celebration into a disappointing trial. (I will add that I snooped a bit, before and after our mains. Both times, Tyler J was standing next to another staff person, hands in pockets, chatting and laughing. I'm glad he likes his coworkers and enjoys his work place.) I hope this is a one-off, and not a sign that something is wrong at 909/913. I don't want to have to find a new, favorite restaurant. read more

My bestie had her daughter's graduation reception there about 2 weekends ago and what an amazing first-time experience! From the kind gentleman who oversaw everything from the bar to the food for this reception, to the whole ambiance and how this gentleman made sure our drinks were full and our empty plates were taken away. I only wish I got his name! I should have taken pics to share but trust me, this is definitely a place that I would recommend to anyone to go to for a meal, drinks or to host a special life event! I walk by here all the time as normally go hang out a few doors down the street. But, I've been meaning to try this place so we came in for dinner. We sat in the outdoor garden area and it was just about perfect, comfortable, not packed together and very relaxing. Just about anything you eat or drink is going to be good when you're in this atmosphere. We started some red wine and a garden fresh salad came from the farmers market. There was so many ingredients it's hard to describe, but very organic, tasty and they can execute a great salad, very artistic too. They serve some complementary bread with oil and balsamic vinegar that was really good; we had seconds. I had the 909 flat iron steak medium rare that came on a bed of potatoes, red peppers and spinach; it was really good. Also, got to taste the linguine with shrimp & bacon. Its flavor was fantastic and it seemed to have some Chinese 5 spice; I may be wrong, but I love the spices in this dish. Overall, this is a great dining experience and we'll be coming back. The ambiance is top notch and seemed like I was in San Francisco and not Burien. The food quality was over the top and it was fresh and seemed to be very organic and healthy. This place can turn you into a vegetarian. Note, the items individually on the menu seems to be reasonably priced, but it adds up fast here and you can easily go over the $100 range for a couple pretty fast. read more

I don't try enough of the restaurant in the Burien area though I lived here for years now, and with how great this one was, it makes me want to explore more. I was looking at its sister restaurant 909 wine and coffee, but saw this one with the same menu but felt a little bit more causal so when with this one. Its a super tiny bar, though in the summer time, there is out door seating. The bar probably only fits 15 people max. It was pretty comfortable though, and the bartenders were fun to talk to. I made a fairly sarcastic comment/burn to the bartender, but we both got a good laugh out of it so it makes for a great dining experience if you are along and sit at the bar. The menu is pretty varied with a reasonable amount of options, and there were quite a few specials the day I went. I went with the shrimp sambuca and the bread course so I can mop up the sauce. Also got a special cocktail called the cure, which is similar to a penicillin cocktail. The shrimp sambuca was great, came with alot of pancetta and the sauce has alot of flavor. The bread was okay and did have to pay for it at. The drink was really good. Will definitely be back to try some of the other options. read more

We went to 913 on a whim and it was so, so good. Love a place that has nice glasses of wine without spending a fortune is awesome. Service so on point! We started with the Charcuterie and it was divine. The fig jam with brie - perfection! My husband had the seafood stew and the broth was so good - we both kept using the bread to soak it up. I had the warm vegetable salad with chicken. It too, was so good. The portions were a nice size. Next time we are going to sit out on the patio which has heaters and blankets. Because I couldn't get anyone on the phone at another place, I called The Place Next Door to see if there were openings left only 3 hours ahead. So glad there were as this was the perfect place for us. Low key atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent food. Started with the bacon-wrapped dates which was superb. The SO had the roasted squash with Italian sausage while I went with King Salmon, both of which were delicious. I've been to the 913 once (for food) and I got the American Kobe Beef Burger. The burger was super thick and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. It's a little expensive for a burger - $16 - but it's very good quality and extremely filling too. You're not likely going to be hungry after ordering this. Aside from the food, the 913 is a really good place to go late at night, in Burien, to get a nice glass of wine and enjoy a nice conversation with someone. My friend and I decided Burien was the best centerpoint for us to meet for dinner, and I found this place on Yelp based on the reviews. Yet again, Yelp does not disappoint! We both loved the ambience (they have an outdoor covered area with lovely string lights) and the service was attentive and friendly, but not overbearing. The food was fantastic. We had the burrata, which was extremely fresh and creamy. So delightful. We also had a side salad and the crab crepes. The crab crepes were quite amazing, and I've never had anything like it before. They really put a lot of effort and style in to their food and drinks. We stopped in to kill some time before heading to the airport and left feeling great. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was interesting and very flavourful. Drinks were spot on for three of the four. One was a little strong but not a show stopper. When we walked in, the outdoor seating area was almost empty. We picked a table, and when the waitress came over, we told her we needed a few more minutes to make out drink selections. Then, over the next ten minutes, the outdoor seating area filled up (four more tables filled), and our waitress visited two other tables (who had arrived after us) before returning to our table to take our drink order. We placed our food order at the same time to avoid another ten minute or longer wait for service. That was the worst part of the evening, however. The food was very good. The burrata comes with fresh mozzarella, which spreads easily on the crostini. The Kobe burger is cooked to order and extremely tasty. The Mac and cheese is outstanding. My only complaint here is that everything needed more salt, and there was none on the table - the waitress asked if we needed anything, but that was before we could taste anything. This is the second time we've been here, and when we return again (we will come again), we'll bring another couple so it's less about eating and more about socializing - that's the type of place this is. read more

I have enjoyed a couple dinners with girlfriends here and the food has been excellent, the beverages generously poured and delicious, and the service excellent. They have an off-menu paleo burger plate that is awesome ... a bed of delicious roasted vegetables with a burger patty, topped with bacon and avocado. I've come here on several occasions wether it's a quick lunch, coffee and desert or full dinner. Everyone looks so busy to even greet you upon entrance and assist you to your seat. First time here last night. Sat on the patio--loved it. Sweet atmosphere, good service and good food. There were four of us and they took A reservation, which was so helpful for us. We started with the cheese, nut and fruit board and it was yummy. The wine special red was excellent! Two folks in our party had the filet and were VERY happy. Another friend had the Ahi Tuna and there wasn't a bit left. I enjoyed the crab crepes, which had a red bell pepper sauce. Simply put, this is some of the best food I've had in Burien and all of Seattle. I have been there multiple times, and I'm finally getting around to doing a rave review because I wanted to make sure it was indeed as amazing as I think it is. You have got to go for their roasted veggies. Their craft cocktails are to die for. I absolutely love the Misto platter as an appetizer. Their ribeye is so flavorful with a wonderful rub and perfectly cooked. It was accompanied with fingerling potatoes and green beans that could not have been prepared better. The service staff is so on point. I don't have a single complaint, criticism, or suggestion for improvement. I started frequenting 913 more often during the winter of 2013 as a friend of mine suggested we go there one evening. I've grown to love this quaint hangout and it's staff. Their happy hour is a great deal. I'd try a couple order of the bacon wrapped dates. I've also enjoyed their Kobe sliders although next time I will order them medium rare. The lighting is lovely. The music is well chosen by Ray, the friendly and cool bartender. He really knows his wines which is a big plus. Has become a regular fun hangout for me. read more
