First you go someplace, you have a nice time, and the rose-colored glasses are on. Second time you go someplace, you don't have as good of a time, and the rose-colored glasses come off. That's the way it is. We hoped this would be our new holiday go-to. We loved the idea of a week-long menu during holidays. We took advantage of the Irish St. Patrick's Day menu, and we were excited to go back for the Easter menu. The Easter menu was also shown on their website as being a week long - so that's three more days from the day we went. When we got there, we spent a few minutes being discombobulated because we couldn't find any of the Easter menu items besides the pancakes (photo) and the drinks menu. In addition, the staff was being a big cagey about it. The menu was still featured on the website but turns out, we were eventually told, that they ran out of the ingredients for most of the items (which would be ham and pork, I guess) and the menu was shut down except for the drinks and the pancakes (nobody mentioned the pancakes and they weren't named in an Eastery way). So, folks, if you offer a week-long menu for one of the biggest holidays of the year, please get enough inventory. We know times are tough, but you did decide to do this and presumably know better after being open since 1979. Please take the holiday menu down from your website if it's not applicable anymore. Please put "subject to availability" on your flyer online if it's possible you will run out of inventory. Please be forthcoming and cheerful and apologetic that you don't have the holiday menu anymore, not defensive. Please tell your entire staff that you aren't serving it anymore. Non-wait staff. Why do you ask us what we want to drink, then tell us we'll have to ask our server? Just bring us water and be done with it. Wait staff. You seem like you enjoy your job, or used to, but are over-worked. That's too bad. We hope things get better. So, this will probably not be our go-to holiday restaurant after all. read more

I came by as really needed a chicken fried steak which is not an easy find in Seattle. But, I ordered it with 2 eggs over medium with hash browns and toast. I posted picture as couldn't wait so not a glamor shot- the steak and gravy was pretty good. A uniform steak and breading not Texas quality but I ate the whole thing. Despite the rush of Sunday brunch, the quality of the food and superb customer service at Huckleberry Square did not waver. We waited for only about 10 minutes for a table for 4. I used to frequent this restaurant with my family as a little girl. I had not visited in decades so I was extremely excited to go back. The restaurant is exactly as I remembered it. It had that "came out of a can" flavor. The hash browns were previously frozen but had a great crunch as well. The eggs really had no flavor. My husband ordered sausage and eggs and said the sausage was quite good. He also mentioned that the hash browns definitely came out of a bag. I took mine home as possible leftovers for later. Was it worth a thirty minute drive on a Saturday morning? No. It was simply a trip down memory lane. The prices are quite a bit higher (to be expected) and the food isn't as great as I remembered....but as a kid, maybe I just didn't have as much food experience. Would I go again? To be perfectly honest, probably not. There are so many other restaurants in the Burien area that have truly raised the restaurant bar to heights that Huckleberry Square may never be able to attain (and, yes, that saddens me). But, this was so worth it! The potato was crispy on the outside and flaky and delicious on the inside. I ordered it loaded, except for sour cream and it was exactly what I needed. The steak was cooked medium-well and was juicy and flavorful. I brought some home for later. I don't know what the cook did to those fresh green beans but they were so good! I love green beans, anyway, but they are easy to screw up if you're not careful. Now, I'm craving a big container of them! LOL. The huckleberry cheesecake is a marvel! The "slab" is huge and in between writing this, I take little bites and savor the berries and slight lemony taste. I'm coming back here in a few months to order this again! The second time, we tried the Florentine omelet, the Jalapeño curd burger (deep fried cheese curds, bacon, chipotle ranch!) and our guest had the huge open face hot turkey dinner. One of my go-to breakfast places. Their Chicken Fried Steak is amazing. The gravy is flavorful and the steak is cooked perfectly. They are excellent on eggs and hash browns and their huckleberry pancakes are divine. My wife loves the breakfast buritto with chorizo. The portions are very big and though there is usually a wait, they get you in quick. It is a very large restraurant. Service is always fantastic, and they strike a nice balance of getting your good quickly but not feeling like you are rushed when eating. I have only ever eaten there for breakfast so I'm not sure how their lunches and dinners are, but if breakfast is any indication, you'll be in good hands. read more

I went there when they open on Friday order bacon and eggs, white toast and hashbrowns. The bacon was so over cook and cold it must have been from the day before, the toast was cold and almost no butter, hashbrowns were over cook on top. the cook that was on duty on 2/13/2026 morning shift needs a lot more training. This a good diner type brunch spot in Burien. It appeared to be a local fave, as there was quite the crowd and a 20 min wait on a late morning Saturday. We were seated within the timeframe they quoted, and got a cozy table for two. Most of the tables were helped pretty quickly, ours was the exception. When we did get service, we jumped on ordering drinks & our breakfast. We love a good bloody mary, and this one really packed a good punch. It was hearty, served with a pretty large portion of hashbrowns. It was good, nothing remarkable, but after the one-drink-buzz bloody mary, I just needed to get some food in me. I go here at least once a week. And the only reason I'm not giving it 5 starts is because of Jeff. I honestly wish I can just walk out the door whenever i realize he's my server. Today was a Sunday and I can acknowledge that it busy so I was patient. When he finally came to our table after waiting for over 15 minutes he doesn't even greet us. He just pushes to take our order. Food comes out 20 minutes later cold. Ran by the busser or expo. Not even him. Then Jeff comes back 20 minutes later with a check. Doesn't even ask if we need refills or if the food was okay. It's just poor service stopping at our table 2 times. If his job makes him unhappy then he should find something else to do instead of ruining customers experience. Came here with a group of friends on a Monday night, mostly on the recommendation of it being a favorite by someone in the group. I don't know if we got extremely unlucky but the experience as a whole was forgetful. After being seated it took roughly 15 minutes for a waitress to come over and take our order. She kept walking by our table - and we must've heard "I'll come back for you guys right after this," - several times as we proceeded to get passed up for other customers. It was clear they were understaffed and that she was the only person taking orders. Even asking for condiments took a long time. We asked for tapatio, and after 10 minutes got hot sauce but it was Cholula. When we got our food, one person got the wrong order. They ordered meatloaf with corn and were given pot roast with beans. We mentioned it and they brought a fresh plate out with meatloaf - but it still had beans. We cut our losses and accepted it. I personally got the philly cheese steak with onions, jalapenos and provolone. It was pretty tasty and the fries were good also. I got the huckleberry shake as well. It as ok - IMO the flavors were too subtle. Maybe I'll give this another shot in a few months. I won't be going out of my way to try it again though. read more
