This was quite the surprise! I've lived in the vicinity for 25 years but for some reason never made it here. But thanks to the pandemic of a lifetime I've been ordering delivery from places I've never tried. I has a very tasty chicken quesadilla for starter and a Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich which was probably one of the best I've had in a long time. NEW OWNERS. I used to love this dive bar. It was a great place to come relax and get reasonable priced drinks. My favorite bartender that worked 7 years there was let go because they wanted a job for a friend. Thats messed up. Well I no longer will come here. These owners have ruined what used to be a cool place. The other bartenders ignore you and I once waited 15 min and then left. I need a new local bar.... 5 Stars for this great place. They have the best fish fry in Scottsdale for sure. My wife and I are there last night. We usually frequent for lunch when we are in Scottsdale. Place was jumping. The BLT was awful. Dry and the bacon burnt. The pretzel was way too salty. The waitress tonight was great. I have not had a good meal yet. Hamburger I ordered was raw. Had to send it back. If you ask for well done then it should not be raw. read more

Karaoke- just reviewing the karaoke... the host was really nice. The people /singers seemed ok too. It was a fun I just wish the singers would have had some mix. Vocal sound was dry- very dry, not even a little ambiance. Not always needed, but always appreciated, especially with karaoke singers. I'm not meaning to criticize just giving my opinion- and everyone has one. The place was busy though, KJ was good with the crowd, bartenders were hustling, people were having fun. Love this place! Since we live right around the corner, it is always so convenient and is just a chill relaxed bar. Definitely noticed under new ownership it is more service oriented and is very clean. Ordered the nachos grande and the fried zuchinni with our drinks and it was Soooo good:) Brittany (our server) was great and the bus boys were often around clearing tables and cleaning., great service. Be like me, close to hotel, walk in "Please seat yourself." Seat myself. Proceed to have 20 minutes pass. Walk over to bar to order drinks and ask for menus. "So sorry about that. I'll be right there!" Brings us beers and menus 5 minutes later. "Thank you so much I really appreciate it." Orders food and another round. Another 10 minutes goes by, not a soul our way. Go to bar and order two more beers. Bartender/waitress apologized and said she'd be right over with 2 more drinks. Order food. 30 minutes go by. Nothing. Pay for beers and kindly ask to leave. 9/10 would not recommend unless your playing bingo on a Tuesday night. read more

My four stars is only about my most recent server, Amber. Amber is 5 stars, but my previous experiences outside her in the last 2 years, are not. I give the food 3 stars. Previous servers 2-3 stars. I never sat at the bar, so didn't meet any scathing bartenders that other reviewers wrote about. I have eaten here at least 4 times in the last 2 years, and only because 92nd Street Cafe is on Local Flavor and also Dining for Miles. I buy vouchers to eat here when LF has a sale, so I pay less than $10 for the $20 voucher, sometimes as little as $5 I have had mixed service, but I always order the same thing, because I love ribs. And the full rack of ribs is the only menu item that will approach the $20 voucher. The full rack of 12 ribs is only $17.00 and I upgrade the fries to sweet potato fries and order a Bud Light. $17 for a full rack is the most reasonable price I know of, for a full rack, unless you go to Golden Corral. Here, it includes soup or salad, and slaw, I always get the soup. One time it was french onion soup, very good! The ribs are on the dry side, and the BBQ sauce is very tart. I like a sweeter sauce. I come here and eat the soup, drink my beer, eat half of the sweet potato fries, eat about 4 of the ribs, and take the rest home for another meal or two, to which I add more veggies or salad, and add honey to the leftover BBQ sauce. I have had mixed service, and like other reviewers complained, I have never once been greeted and seated when I come in. I don't care, I go and seat myself. And if a server does not come to me, I get up and go to the bar, get a menu, and get someone there to take care of my needs. I always eat alone, but they have free WiFi and I bring my tablet for company. Sometimes my service is nil, other than bringing me the entree. But the last time I ate here was on March 16, 2017. I got an exceptional server I've never seen here before. Amber brought me a menu when my butt was just sliding into the booth. I told her I already knew what I wanted. Unlike the other times I used vouchers, where I might be less than 50 cents under the $20, Amber insisted that I had to max out on the $20 and not even be a few pennies under. So she kept adding up my efforts to pad the $17 ribs, till I was over the $20. When I told her it was never like that before, they just subtract what I order from the $20 (less than $1 under), she said the management was cracking down, and they will no longer do that, I had to order AT LEAST $20. Amber came to check on me at least 5 times "How are you doing?" "Still doing OK?" I do not recall that any server here had ever stopped by to check if I needed anything. Amber also saw that I was going to need a take out box, and brought me one, without me first asking for it. If every server especially at the bar, were as attentive as Amber, the Yelp ratings for 92nd Street would be much higher. Check out my photos and see what I get for $5-$8 Local Flavor voucher for $20 food. With tax and tip I end up paying maybe $5 more than what I paid for the voucher. A good deal for the 2 meals I get out of the full rack of ribs. read more

The new "owner" Nicole puts on the best drag show in Scottsdale. Since new ownership, this place has really took a turn for the worse. Nicole thinks she is a manager but is outside on the patio drinking, smoking, and hanging out with her "friends," (who are just regulars that are very disrespectful and would be tossed out in other places.) The regulars are very out of line and are bad for business. If you don't allow people to blatantly disrespect you, I would not recommend this place. It is a very hostile place due to the "owners" not handling the problem starters. Seeing ownership sit at the bar taking up multiple seats drinking all night just shows the type of ownership that they have. Service has declined so much! I used to love coming here for that local Scottsdale feeling, but now it's turned to a shit hole. If I could write a negative star review I would, it's unbelievable that it could get to this point. The worst experience I have ever had in a bar. I was in to visit with a few friends and witnessed the "owner", SCREAMING (I've never seen someone so angry in my life and using such FILTHY and THREATINING language) at a table nearby for bad behavior. I actually thought she was a waitress so I asked for the owner (Ed) because I worried for everyone's safety. I was quickly informed by my waitress that the woman was the owner and her name is Nicole. As a business owner in Scottsdale myself, nothing is worth this behavior and this situation could have been handled so much better. It was very appalling to watch and downright scary. I had heard her behavior was terrible, but I had never seen it until Saturday night. I will not be coming back, and would not recommend. I honestly worry one day that things may get out of hand because she mouths off to the wrong person. I wont be there to watch. I have half a mind to call her parents, the "owners", whom I have had nothing but pleasant interactions with. Not sure if she has a drinking problem or acts this way naturally, but it is not suitable to antagonize people who are drinking. In my opinion, Nicole put the whole bar in danger by the way she handled the situation. It is a very unsafe atmosphere, I do not have faith in her management. She has alot of growing up to do, she had no concern for her patrons or their safety. Inexcusable. read more

I ordered food from here on a delivery service and it was horrible. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and the grease was dripping. You could tell the grease was old too. I did not take more than a bite. Fries were the same thing. I also got the pretzel which wasn't as bad but the cheese that came out of it was horrible. I dipped it once and just used my own mustard. Horrible food and service. The drinks were strong but thats pretty much all that is good about this place. Overpriced bar food, tastes like microwaved frozen food. I couldn't even eat my French onion soup it was so gross. Ive been here a few times and every time it is so understaffed and the servers are struggling with too many customers and not enough support, while their manager just sits at the bar drinking with customers. You'll wait 20+ minutes for drinks and over an hour for food. The manager Nicole is so awful. If you visit, hope that you don't have an issue that you need to deal with her, she is so rude and argumentative, and according to her staff, she treats them just as horribly. Went there for an anniversary dinner during Covid. Had a hard time finding open dining room restaurants. Remembered 92nd Street ... reliably good meals. Have gone to 92nd Street Cafe over the years . We had WONDERFUL prime rib dinners this Saturday night. It's a Saturday special.Highly recommend it. Side salad, choice of potato, fresh veggies, breadstick, horseradish, sour cream. Authentic au jus from the prime rib. I asked for rare and got it! That is impressive. Our wait person Shayla was delightful and attentive. She's a keeper. We will be back more often. Looking forward to trying their fish & chips. Please give this long-time local restaurant a try during the year of broken dreams. EDIT: Since my original review 92nd St Cafe has been almost completely remodeled with new furniture & new bathrooms, and the clutter of ads, posters, signs, & pennants has been significantly reduced. I have not seen the latest menu but I assume it's had changes as well. The staff is still friendly and it's still a fun and cozy neighborhood bar. The only negative is the lack of new karaoke tracks but that's dependant upon the karaoke host. ORIGINAL REVIEW: What to say about 92nd St Cafe? Well, it's kind of crappy but at the same time it's kind of not. I mean, the furniture is nice and they're remodeling the bathrooms. But the layout is so bizarre and there's so many beer ads, posters, neon signs, & pennants that it makes all the nice stuff irrelevant. The shape of the bar is weird too and there's not much room to move around when it's busy. The karaoke has a new guy that's cool, right now it's my favorite place to Karaoke. The staff is friendly and they remember customers. After only two visits the waiter remembered my favorite drink. The food is pretty good quality but their menu is a crazy clusterf*ck of different kinds of food. Nachos, fried shrimp, linguine bolognese, omelettes? Years ago, I used to really like coming here with my friends. I have been here a few times a year since then. but it seems like something about this place changed within the years. Don't get me wrong, it's still a decent place to grab a drink and socialize, but something is surely different. I came here Friday night with a friend and we enjoyed the weather out on the patio. We ordered drinks - I ordered a Mai Tai and the bartender admitted that he wasn't sure what's in a Mai Tai because it's been years since he made one. I admire his honesty, but in life, you've gotta fake it til you make it. He pulled out his phone to check the ingredients and someone sitting at the bar said it's basically a Hurricane. True, both drinks have rum, lime and OJ but they aren't the same drink. I think the bartender gave me a cross in between a Mai Tai and a Hurricane. It was good, but it wasn't what I had ordered. I'd probably come back, and when I do, I expect a perfect Mai Tai. :) read more
