This is one of the nicer Cheba Hut locations. While the sandwiches are pretty consistent across the franchise, the individual locations have their own personalities. At this one, the mural is awesome -- it pays homage to vehicles from past television shows. (See how many you recognize! I laughed pretty hard at Thomas the Tank Engine since I watched that with my kids.) I am on a quest to try every sandwich from the Cheba Hut menu and I have worked my way through most of the main menu. I am mostly finishing up the vegetarian section before hitting the grilled cheese. (Peanut butter and honey on wheat is great, BTW!) I mention this because there is a "Secret Stash" menu and this shop features the "Bikini Bottom." When I ordered it, the cashier got excited because, "nobody orders that one!" Apparently, I am that guy. The Bikini Bottom: cream cheese, turkey, onions, pineapple, strawberry jelly, provolone, and bacon. I had it on the Parmesan herb bread with the jalapeño cream cheese option and it was quite tasty. I don't know what is wrong with people :D It is too bad that this location is so far from where I live, but it is nice to know that it is here for when I am far from home and need a "toasted" sandwich. I almost wish we'd never stopped at this location at Shea Blvd. and 101.That's because it's SO much nicer than the one by me in Gilbert. It's bright, clean and spacious with lots of inviting booths. I absolutely love the colorful mural on the wall with the clever takes on cartoon characters. They even have a small photo of Ice Cube guarding the soda fountain. One thing it does have in common with "my" Cheba Hut is that the sandwiches are just as good. I had the Midwest Best Club and it was perfect. The toasted bread (always garlic herb for me) is the way to go. Maybe I'll just have to move closer to this Cheba. read more

We stopped into Cheba Hut for drinks and subs. The location was very near where we were staying and we love their subs. All of their subs are very creative and filled with fresh ingredients. The one thing that brings me back is the way they develop the sauces that bring perfect balance and complement the sub. The subs are always toasted to perfection. Cheba Hut is far superior to the soggy subs you get at Subway and a huge step above every sub shop that fills their subs with watery salty sauces and flavorless fillings. We sat down at the bar to eat and were greeted by Brody. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and shared some good combinations as well as his recommendations. We sat down and sipped on Papago orange blossom beer and Huss Scottsdale blonde beers as we enjoyed our subs. Brody then told us about Mario Kart racing and we were confused at first but then realized that when you sit at the bar they have controllers and you can play Mario Kart while you eat. The place was not packed due to being on a weekday so we got to play games while enjoying the evening. Brody also gave us recommendations and told us about the area and the breweries in the area. He is a fantastic asset to Cheba Hut and a rising star. Thank you Cheba Hut cooks, and chefs for your amazing sandwiches, and thank you Brody for making our evening flow and relaxing. These sandwiches are sooooo good! I am not big on getting a sandwich for lunch but always look forward to chebahut!!! I don't know how anyone eats a sub/sandwich anywhere else. The garlic bread is one of a kind and all the choices!!!! My go to is the Kali Mist. They also have a secret menu! But I only like this location. Stopped by to enjoy a tuna sandwich and friendly vibes at a bar and found both. My bartender was lovely ands attentive, modified by tuna melt so tuna and veggies stayed cold. So great and delicious. Possibly the friendliest sub shop in town. Greeted as soon as we walked in, charming person took our order and then someone even came by to see how we were enjoying our subs. Love the decor. Fun vibe with the music and the bar- yes you can grab a drink while enjoying your sub! We both had the Italian Sub- also called La Canna. Very tasty, with lots of extras included. It does have a little less meat than other sub shops provide but it tasted delicious. I noticed they have good happy hour specials. They have "nicer than normal sub shop" seating. We sat at comfy cushioned seats at a tall long table inside, and there are also many other tables inside and an outdoor seating area as well. read more

What went well? Everything. It was so good the first time we went again. The next day. Great space. The parking lot is a little tricky, but just take it slow. Decent parking. Nice outdoor patio. The first day I had the A-Train. Everything about this sandwich is perfect. I was only disappointed because I ordered a 4 inch instead of an 8 inch. We sat at the bar and had a fabulous bartender. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. She wasn't there the next day. The next day I ordered the Fungus Amongus . The big one. I was so happy. It filled me up, but I wasn't stuffed. I've personally made it a mission of my own to try a different sandwich on the menu each time. This time I got the Apollo 13 and it was fantastic. The chicken was nice and saucy, and not too much, which paired well with the vegetables and cheese on top. My brother also got his favorite, which is the Midwest best. Ordered a few subs online for lunch pickup and it was a really easy process. It was just under $40 for 3 medium sandwiches and 2 bags of chips - which honestly is a decent priced amount now a days. The Midwest Best which is their club, is a solid sandwich. The bread was super fresh and it had just the right amount of ingredients in it. I feel like some places either stuff too much into their sandwich or not enough - but this is the perfect amount. When I went to pickup my order, I of course had to buy a variety of the krispy treats I was able to say no to online but obviously not in person. The captn crunch and fruity pebble were perfection. There's been a Cheba Hut craze, and this is my first time ever going. My sandwich was to die for, and I'm not even a sandwich connoisseur. I needed something quick to eat as I drove to my next meeting, and this place did not disappoint everybody I saw that day. I shared about Cheba Hut, and they were like, Yeah, where have you been. Ahhhh a good toasty sub! And why not! While I'm not one to eat like this often, I was definitely in the mood to try someplace new. The tuna melt called pacific blue with their very own handcrafted tuna salad. My sub was perfect for me, but I can imagine it's probably made even better with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. Now I just like mine with cheddar alone but they also offer house dressing (Italian vinaigrette) And cheba shake (Parmesan, oregano, and proprietary Cheba spice blend) which was delicious. I ordered it on garlic herb bread and at 8" pinner ate the whole thing. I'd say I was hungry. With chips and tip (no drink) my bill was around $15.00. Not a small price. With the music playing and the vibe they are going for, it's easy to close your eyes and feel like you are at a hut on the beach. Nice job overall and great sandwich. Recently came here for dinner with my dear momma, she hooked it up for me and my sister. It was a nice treat for everyone involved, as my family loves their Cheba Hut. This was my first time at this location and I loved the look of its interior, though I didn't snatch any photos of the wall art which was incredible with a ton of cartoon characters all over. The decor is all around amazing at every Cheba Hut location with their tongue in cheek humor. The bartender Brodie was more than accommodating and super friendly, and immediately upon walking in I told him I was interested in somewhat of an exotic sandwich, to which he knew to put me onto their secret menu item known as 'The Death Star'. Safe to say, I was grinning in anticipation of this sandwich, which I got in a blunt. Upon its arrival to my spot at the bar, I knew Brodie was definitely onto something. I got it with jalapeño cream cheese, which was the right choice. I mean this thing had the works, it had everything I could've wanted out of a Cheba Hut sandwich. I'm a regular customer at other locations of this chain because I usually enjoy their sandwiches. Unfortunately, my recent visit to this particular store was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I ordered a sandwich with double meat. After taking a few bites, I realized it had been made incorrectly. I politely asked them to remake it, and they agreed. I waited 30 minutes, then went back up to check on it. The person who identified himself as the manager told me the best he would do was throw some meat on a plate and hand it to me. When I expressed that this was unreasonable, he became extremely rude, started cursing at me, refused to remake the sandwich or refund my money, and told me to leave the store. I'm genuinely shocked that a manager would treat a paying customer this way over a simple sandwich order. Whether he was having a bad day or not, his behavior was completely unprofessional. I will not be returning to this location again. read more

Ordered the Chronic (BBQ Roast Beef). Unfortunately, the BBQ sauce was SOOO overpowering that I couldn't taste anything else in the sub, not the roast beef, not the cheese (which I could see there was only the TINIEST amount of), nor the vegetables. If I come back, I will order this WITHOUT the sauce, or something else altogether. It also made the sub soggy. If I ordered something else, I would ask for sauce on the side. Also, the sandwich had MUCH less in it than the photo on the website implies. Wish I had thought to take a picture. My husband ordered the LaCanna (Italian) and also was not impressed. VERY disappointing! On the plus side, the employees were nice and we liked the decor. But cool decor does not good food make. read more

We had heard of Cheba Hut before, and HAD to check out this new location-so glad we did! It was busy when we arrived, and we quickly understood why, the food was AWESOME! Quick service, friendly atmosphere, and more importantly FAMILY FRIENDLY! My three year old son was a bit sensitive to the volume of the music in the restroom, I asked if it were possible to reduce the noise a bit and not only did they accommodate our request right away, they checked in with our little guy to make sure it was up to his standards, too! So unimpressed. Never have been before and don't know why people think this is good. Maybe you have to be stoned to eat there, based on their theme. I ordered the cream cheese and veggie sandwich and it came toasted, which I did not ask for. I never had hot toasted melty cream cheese before, nor did I want to, so I had them redo it. It was skimpy. Barely anything in it. Why they pour those crumbs on there is beyond me. I asked for white bread, but they did the herb bread. I asked for extra onions, but only saw 1. The whole thing was a disaster and one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had. And even the worst Kool Aid I ever had. Totally watered down and tasteless. Definitely not recommended. Decided to try this new spot and it delivered a great sandwich. I tried the power plant. The toasted bread was better than most. The salad was fresh, the hummus homemade and the guacamole perfectly creamy. My friend loved the Kool Aid flavors. The service was first class! The full bar and big screens were a bonus. I placed an order online and went to pick it up at the store I selected, but when I arrived, the staff said they never received any order. I showed them the charge from my bank account to prove that the payment went through. Instead of helping me resolve the issue, they called another location and told me the order was confirmed to be there. They sent me to that second location -- only for me to arrive and be told they never received my order and never told the first store otherwise. So I was sent on a wild goose chase for a single sandwich that I had already paid for, and no one took ownership or tried to make things right. The staff seemed indifferent and unwilling to help, despite seeing proof of the charge. This was hands down one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. read more

Showed up at 10 minutes b4 closing and asked if we could eat it at the restaurant. The response was, "if you can stuff it down in 10 minutes". As we waited for our sandwich's another customer came in at 9:05 and their sandwich was ready at 9:10!! Bad response from mgr.
