Wife/I went to Parlay mid-day Sunday. Very nice and clean; very good service even though the foodserver lady was clearly new. She did a great job. Huge positive on the Bloody Mary, it was wonderful. I had the cod; and they were fine with replacing the french fries with avocado and tomato slices (gotta watch what you eat when you're old !). Wife's food was very good as well, albeit I was not a huge fan of the "flat french fries" that came with her meal. Pretty reasonable prices. Very good food. Outstanding drinks. Most of the reviews of this place are great. So I'll assume our experience was an anomaly. Leaving a good review with an unfortunate issue. Partially humorous. Last night, we ordered from Parlay and when my husband picked up the food he saw a 10z ribeye for steak and eggs on the brunch menu. Before trying the food, he already decided to get their breakfast in the morning. We got an ahi Salad, some southwest spring rolls, and a chicken sandwich. All were good. The egg rolls and the sauce that came with them were awesome. Today, after my surgery - Husband ordered the steak and eggs that came with potatoes and toast. It's 10oz ribeye, for only $25 bucks. We knew it would be a thin cut, but in today's economy!, still an awesome price for all of that. He asked for medium rare. I ordered a burger (I forget which kind; I was high from surgery) cooked medium. Both the steak and burger were cooked beyond well done. Beyond. My husband NEVER returns food. But, he told the server when he came by to check on us. The server was super cool. He brought the steak back. I hadn't said anything about the burger yet. I didn't have the energy and I think I was still chewing my first bite while half asleep. The steak was taking a good while to come back. Server said the cook KEPT ON over cooking the steak. , idk how many steaks he ruined before he decided on the one we should get. It was a 3/4 10oz ribeye. Should be cooked 2-3 minutes on each side. Server finally brought a new steak out. It was blue rare. Some bites were edible, but husband was iffy. The rest of the steak was still raw. Server came back and we let him know. He was in agreement and apologized. At that point I let him know the burger was also super well done. It was almost funny since again, surgery high. The server didn't charge us for the steaks and I think he compensated us for my husband's Bloody Mary too. His eggs and potatoes were fine. My fries were perfect. Ngl.. we may go back tonight since it's close to the hotel and they have a chocolate ganache cake I craved before I knew it was on the menu. Hopefully the chef making the steaks is not also the baker I will update the review to report whether or not the cake gets overcooked lol. 1st time experience -Restaurant and other food is decent. After watching The World Cup final at Talking Stick Casino on a Sunday, we made the short drive over to The Parlay Kitchen + Cocktails for some more drinks and dinner. Parking wasn't an issue in the large, complimentary lot they share with a bunch of other businesses. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pretty much your typical well-kept bar and restaurant. We sat at the bar, though there is plenty of table and booth seating if that's more your jam. Service (4/5): Our bartender was new but she was super friendly and accommodating. I had to grab her attention a few times, but overall, solid. Drinks (4/5): One of the nice things about The Parlay is that they have happy hour every day until 6. We took advantage of it for the last 45 minutes or so. Happy hour consists of discounts off of their cocktails and appetizers, which both are large lists. I enjoyed two drinks off of the happy hour menu including one with a huge smoke bubble. My third time having a drink like this and always a good time. I think the bartender got the ingredients off a slight bit, but she'll get better with practice. Food (3/5): The food is a hit and a miss. I had three appetizers: the fried avocado, the steak bites, and the pretzels with fondue cheese. The best of the bunch is the fried avocado. Think of an avocado deep fried in the same way you see a bunch of foods at the carnival. Pretty much anything is good in this format, am I right? Beyond the avocado, it was served on a bed of a corn and crema slaw of sorts which was delicious. Good portion size. In the middle were the pretzels. I love cheese so this is my type of appetizer. The soft pretzels were soft and buttered well. Solid but a smaller portion size than I anticipated. And lastly, the steak bites. They're served with flat fries and drizzled with a sweet sauce. Good portion. The problem. I ordered it medium rare and it was well done. You can't mess up steak like this. You shouldn't even serve it. The chef messed up so he or she should have started over. I'm not the type that returns dishes so I ate it, but it took away from the dish a lot. While I wouldn't run to come back to The Parlay, if happy hour is involved, and I'm in the area, I'd check it out again. Hopefully they can work out some of the kinks. read more

The top of the dip was perfectly golden, and I liked that it didn't taste as heavy as some other cheesy dips. - HOUSE MADE SOUTHWEST EGG ROLLS (chipotle chicken, black beans, pico de gallo, cheddar jack cheese, chipotle ranch): Another hit! The filling was flavorful, and the egg roll wrapping itself was perfectly cooked. I feel like 3 stars is low but 4 is too high for this place so maybe like a 3.5 is more reasonable. My husband and I came here around 4:30pm on New Year's Day. We had planned to go somewhere else but it was closed so a family member recommended Parlay to us. It was pretty empty--which we expected for 4:30 on NYD. The girl who seated us (who ended up being our server asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating. I turned to look at my husband to see if he was good with outside but then she interrupted and said "actually everything is really wet outside." So we sat inside, yet people were seated outside about an hour later... We came mostly for happy hour, but also got other food. Started with a regular margarita on the rocks. She let me know that the blender wasn't on today for blended margaritas. That was fine because I don't like blended margaritas. We ordered the grilled honey bbq wings. They were really good! I would give those 5 stars. My margarita was fine, not bad but nothing spectacular. My husband tried some blueberry type beer or something. He said it was fine and then got something else after. I got a Paloma after the marg and did not care for the Paloma. My husband ordered a burger medium rare (knowing it would t actually come out medium rare) it was medium. He said it was just a regular burger. I snagged a couple of his French fries and I thought they were interesting. They are flat so they are kind of crispy which I liked. I ordered the chicken tacos. I ordered them on corn tortillas which I was told is an up-charge. I think it's weird, I've never been to a restaurant that up charges you for corn tortillas. The tacos were pretty bland. They had a crema sauce on them but I had to add quite a bit of salsa to them for flavor. The elote on the side was good. It's a nice restaurant. Lots of tvs and a large patio. We also learned that the patio is dog friendly. Our service was meh. Our server actually came to our table and admitted that she had gotten caught up chit chatting in the back. Lovely birthday lunch with hubby and college boy today. Server Alvina was prompt, thorough and delightful. She gave us good menu tips and was really helpful and friendly. Today's Taco Tuesday special was two tacos on flour tortillas with a side of street corn for $10. Usually $15 on the menu, my men split this plate for an appetizer. One fried cod and one green chili pork taco for them and the corn for me. The tacos were topped with cabbage, lime crema and pico. Husband didn't care for the crema and scraped off most of the toppings. Son enjoyed the pork although it was juicy and drippy to eat. Very tender. The street corn was heavily sauced with a sprinkle of cotoja cheese. I am not sure the ingredients on the corn but it was a bit greasy like the sauce broke when they heated it. Tasty but didn't finish. For our entrees we ordered the BBQ Chicken salad, Pesto Chicken wrap and a Southwest Mac and Cheese. The salad had a chipotle ranch dressing and was tossed spring mix. I would have preferred the dressing on the side, since spring mix doesn't hold up well. I asked for beans on the side and gave them to hubby. Salad still included corn and pico with a nice tender grilled chicken breast on top and a zingy BBQ drizzle. It really could use some crunchy corn chips and a little avocado, but it was a good salad anyway. Mac was curly noodles and cheesy sauce with chipotle chicken on top. Son made it go away very quickly! Finally the pesto chicken wrap was enjoyed thoroughly by husband but he brought home half. He said it was good but had too much spinach. They both liked the light battered French fries, said they were really good. When we were finished eating, our server asked if we were interested in dessert. I asked if they do anything for birthdays because it was my actual birthday today. She put together a piece of chocolate cake ala mode with a candle in no time. Found this place by mere luck... Flew into Scottsdale and forgot to set my watch forward by an hour, got to a pizza joint to feed my boy and the place was locking up. They told me to reset my watch and check out the restaurant a couple doors down. Great recommendation!! Walked down, they were still open and willing to feed us at nearly 10pm... thanks Natasha for the help get'n my boy fed. All of her suggestions were also on point. "Steak bites"!! So good we ate here three times in 5 days just to have the appetizer again and again. They were even gracious enough to host the entire baseball team and parents on less than an hours notice. Party of girls! we met up and had brunch at Parlay and ordered French toast , a burrito that came with fried potatoes on the side , ordered a bloody Mary and it came with a small pick loaded with some meat and olives. I took a walk around the place took some pictures inside, of the bar and tables and wine storage cabinet , many tvs for entertainmet indoors and outside, where they have a very large outdoor area to eat and watch TV lounge area, high tops and tables. There was a large chair for photos outside and my friends and I took the opportunity to have fun and make some memories even got our awesome waitress named Reese in the photos,I recommend asking for her and tell her Tammy and the girls sent you! read more

Went for a work Christmas party and had a lot of fun. The waiters were coming around taking out drink orders in a timely manner, so that alone was a plus for me. We started with appetizers that consisted of chips and salsa , guacamole, and some kind of corn dip that was immaculate. This is my wife and I's go to dinner place for DELICIOUS meals that don't break the bank. However, this review is not about their spectacular menu, but their service. I was apart of bachelor party where everyone flew in from out of state except myself. The restaurant we had booked had our reservation cancelled, so I suggested the parlay knowing they had a great outdoor seating area. The Parlay quickly accommodated 16 guys on the patio in a moments notice and dedicated two servers to us who kept everyone attended to. Not easy work! As a local, I'm thinking, they did a great job even though this is probably their first big bachelor party Just when I thought that, our waitress brought out free shots for everyone... The Parlay had my heart with their food, but now they have it for their service. I can't recommend this small chain enough, they deserve all the business they can get! read more

Came here Saturday with my fiancée and a bunch of friends to celebrate my birthday. There is tons of seating both inside and out and lots of tv's (we like to watch football). The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Almost all of us got the bottomless mimosa bar which comes with lots of juices, fruits and purées to choose from. A friend and I also had the Irish breakfast which was very good. For food, the creme brulee French toast seemed to be a fan favorite (I had a piece myself). I also got everything else off of the à la cart menu, I.e eggs, sausage and potatoes, as I typically like a traditional breakfast, however that is not one of their options. Came here on a Sunday for a late lunch and oddly enough it was empty! We watched the football game and all the food here was very delicious and fresh! Our server was super sweet and she accommodated to all our request. Had a special treat where the manager came to greet our table and chatted with us for a bit! The food was great and fresh! I was craving steak and potatoes, decided to come here. Went for the spinach artichoke dip, and it was pretty good, I was expecting the bread to be hard, but it wasn't and that was a good thing for me. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer and I got filet mignon with grilled onions and shrimp skewers. I went alone and I finished the entire spinach dip, so it took me a little bit. My steak didn't come out until 20-30 mins after I already finished the dip. That was a little bit disappointing. I sat at the bar and the gentleman working was very polite and tentative. I requested a medium steak and it came out more well done, but it was such a long wait I didn't want to mention it. The steak still wasn't bad, it was good enough that I didn't have to use steak sauce or anything extra. The shrimp skewers tasted very fishy, they definitely need some sort of seasoning. The location is perfect. The patio is definitely the best spot of the restaurant. The drinks amazing! Now for the review. When we first walked in, there were two other couples and families ahead of us. The hostess came to the stand and didn't say hello to any of us. They may have been waiting and helped already but since we just walked in didn't know for sure. So we waited longer. She comes back for a second time to the stand, not a word or look in our direction. Finally, this woman comes walking in and just beelines it to the bar (which is where we wanted to sit). So, the hostess comes back and we finally address her and ask if the bar is open seating. She says yes and we proceed to walk ourselves to the bar. Why have a hostess if they're not going to be friendly and welcoming upon first arrival! It wasn't a great first impression for our experience. We sit down and the bartender takes our order. We ordered two delicious drinks but it was a little strange having the bartender look at a recipe book to make our drinks. Not a problem or anything just different and wasn't used to seeing it. They were delicious nonetheless. Now the food. We ordered the pork sliders and calamari. The pork sliders were definitely subpar. They weren't the best and they didn't suck. To make it better? Toasting the buns on the sliders for sure and more sauce. The pork could be crispier to offer a more delicious bite. The calamari? Awful. Overly seasoned and over cooked. The aioli was terrible. It should be a marinara or at most a cocktail sauce of some sort. The calamari doesn't need to be overly seasoned, the sauce is what provides majority of the flavor. It was time to leave, so we asked for the bill. They were quick and got it back to us in great time. Would we go back? No. We were happy to try a new place in our neighborhood but definitely are plenty of other places we would rather go. Improvement to the food and service is needed. The prices don't match up with the service provided or quality of food. The drinks however, amazing and would certainly not have a problem paying $10-$15 for a drink. They have live music on the weekends and he was good but so loud we could hardly hear each other. I was happy when he took a long break. Alevenia (not sure of the spelling) greeted us immediately with ice water and a welcoming smile. She answered our questions and our appetizer arrived about 10 minutes later. We started with wings (honey BBQ and Asian) which were very crispy and grilled to perfection. They're based on weight, but we got 4 of each flavor. Loved that they were served with both celery and carrot sticks. So many places only offer celery these days. What gives?! I ordered a coke with lime (refilled without me asking!) and their crispy honey hot chicken sandwich with fries. I asked for extra crispy fries and they were hot & delicious. Like a few reviews I had read about this sandwich, the hot honey sauce lacked a bit of flavor. I prefer a thicker and spicier sauce but overall, it was good. Especially good option if you don't like really spicy food but want a kick of flavor. Hubby ordered their pulled pork sliders with fries and a local IPA. He loved his meal. They have a large patio with a firepit, and their bathrooms were clean. Their menu is half classic options (with a bit more upscale entrees) and also the typical bar type food. Heard no complaints about the burgers. The steak salad was very good. Thumbs up on the poke bowl. Appetizers were also very good. First time on the deep fried avocado. It was rich and tasty. Ordered two coffees, fresh pot was being made but never arrived. Server switched to bartending and new server never checked our table. Food here is very good. Was in town and met a girlfriend here for lunch. There's plenty of parking, great location just off of the 101 and Via de Ventura. The outdoor area is HUGE and looks like an excellent place to have a special event, with tables and a few comfy looking seats. Our waitress, whose name I forgot, was attentive and kind. She answered our questions about the menu. We both had the Steakhouse Salad, she had hers as the menu suggested and I had a few alterations (replaced blue cheese with Jack & cheddar and the balsamic with a champagne vinaigrette). We both thoroughly enjoyed our salads - and I'd definitely order it again! We didn't get any adult beverages, just water and Dt Soda. My family and I came here during an afternoon after visiting the Odysea aquarium, and overall we had a good experience. Despite the kitchen being out of several items, the server was friendly and helpful, and apologized profusely - he made up for the experience and made it that much more enjoyable (his name was Austin, I think). My expectations of this place after reviewing Yelp was too high. This is more of a casual fun place to watch sports and have happy hour. The food was alright, nothing exceptional. Perfect place for post-spring training game at Salt River Fields! It was around 20 of us that headed here after the game. It's super close to the ballpark and great happy hour. The service was exceptional, great cocktails and delicious happy hour food. read more

It was our first time at Parlay and we will definitely go again. We sat on the their spacious patio and had the calamari - so good. I had the hot chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Good service and they had live music too which was fun! read more

First I will start by saying you can't beat this patio! So with that I might give it another try. But we went on a Wednesday night and ordered 4 apps. They were out of 2 of them. We then tried ordering a salad that has chicken- and they were out of chicken. Seems off for a restaurant to be out of 3 of the 5 items we ordered. It also took 20 min to get a glass of wine I ordered. Assuming she forgot and then my friend asked about it on the way to the restroom. Definitely not the first timer experience I was hoping for. read more
